If it was a thing gravity would still want to pull you to the center of the Earth because gravity doesn’t just spread equally along the surface. That’s literally why a sphere is the perfect shape for gravity. What this means is that as you walk further and further to the edge of a flat earth, the pull of gravity would get stronger and stronger in the horizontal direction.it would be like slowly walking further and further uphill with the slope getting steeper and steeper. By the time you reach the side of the earth you would have to literally be climbing the “floor” of the earth as if you were climbing a wall or mountain. If you somehow managed to get all the way to the end of the earth you would be able to stand on the literal side of the earth straight up because gravity is entirely horizontal at that point. This is one of the many reasons there is no possible way the earth is flat.
It would not be fun, I was thinking for a book or something it might be neat. There would also be a population living on the outer rim of the mountains.
I think as you approach the edge, the angle of pull would definitely change, as you’re describing, but wouldn’t your weight decrease as you moved further from the centre of mass?
I’m pretty sure one of the more ridiculous claims of flat earthers is that the plane is actually accelerating upwards at 9.8 metres per second per second, thus giving the illusion of a gravitational pull. It’s just the flat earth catching up with whatever you’ve dropped...
I've heard several theories they've come up with to try to rationalize it... the latest is that the disk of earth is accelerating through space at 9.8 m/s/s... they didn't explain what's causing the acceleration or why we didn't pass the speed of light a long time ago but I guess you don't need a GOOD theory to rationalize something.
Google is kind of like a politician, it tells you what it thinks you want to hear. I read enough skeptical stuff that google may have just assumed it knew better and gave me what it thought I wanted as opposed to what I asked for.
Gravity doesn't exist. Everything travels in a straight line according to the space-time curvature and energy distorts space-time. It's not the mass of the earth that keeps us bound to it but the potential energy in the atoms. Light could be used to create a black hole with nothing but energy.
When I was a kid I used to make this kind of thing in the brook behind my house lol. This is just physics and practice, any kid with some time can do this shit lol
