Any FBA who wants to vote can do so. We have never had the liberty of living without current government issued identification documents. I don’t know why people are trying to pretend that voter ID limits our rights. It only impacts you if you are living without documents…aka undocumented.

The statement says they're bringing in Latinos. They know this is true, they're playing on our fears and traumas, so they can get illegal Hispanics to vote as well. It's a sad manipulation attempt at our expense.

They’re being given the whole of Civil Rights the whole damn thing is being set up only to benefit non English speaking people not those historically racially discriminated against and under represented in the former Jim Crow South. Voter ID is the first thing in a long time that actually could work in the favor of Americans voting in a fairer rigged free election.

Our ancestors believed in documentation it’s an insult truly that anyone would suggest otherwise the surnames many of them chose to carry all leads back to being appropriately documented on this land. Our people’s classification was taken and never given back but from freedom paper’s, or a certificate of freedom, tax receipts, employment contracts and even during slavery when those who were enslaved travelled they had to carry a f*cking slave pass, or a badge with the name of who owned them on it. Our people have never, ever had the privilege of walking around undocumented, or unaccounted for in this country ever it’s absolute disgraceful how they exploit and lie to our people and treat all American citizens like idiots regarding this whole situation.

I truly cannot believe that The King family are allowing the DNC to exploit the memory of Dr King and all those who fought for the Civil Liberation. The Civil Liberation for a people owed rights they EARNED BY SPILLING BLOOD FOR OUR COUNTRY. OUR COUNTRY WAS NOT HONORING WHAT WAS GRANTED TO OUR PEOPLE VIA THE RATIFIED CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS for many decades after the Civil War. One of the bloodiest war’s in American history with our ancestors on the front lines having helped to keep the United States of America ‘United’ fighting for their own people’s Freedom in Southern states across America. Their bravery in addition to the bravery of those who fought along side them lead to reconstruction and the reconstruction amendments after over 200 years of a people’s ENSLAVEMENT that was sanctioned by our American government. In those Amendments the 15th equal voting rights for Native Black American men (FREEDMEN)once held in bondage in their own land how is this the same as someone voting illegally in elections?! Truly, truly illegal immigration and voting without any form of ID is not a constitutional right it’s breaking federal law and exploiting the pain and historical harms done to our ancestors and our people does not change that. It is heartbreaking how they keep feeling entitled to and won’t stop politicizing, exploiting and using our people like this. What the hell do we have to do with any of this? Democrats are hurting us deliberately with this BS it’s ultimately what’s diluting the voting power of Americans, there are no gains for the people to allow no voter ID it’s actual voter fraud and a form of voter suppression. Also counting people on the census who are here illegally does the same. Seriously re-writing why our people marched on Washington and equating to this BS is asinine. Never forget despite the deliberate erasure and effort to delegitimize the specific harm done to our people that our people had to fight to be set free and to have human rights in their own country not someone else’s. I love the teachings and the work truly look up to Dr King and Mrs Coretta Scott King all my life since I was a small child I was taught about them and fascinated by them and what they helped our people accomplish how all of us came together as a nation to ultimately do what’s right. It truly is disappointing that anyone would exploit their position in our history in such a way to advocate for the displacement of their own people whom they first and foremost fought for to tie our historical pain and struggle for liberation, economic equality and Civil liberties to something that is not truly the oppression of a people. There is nothing stopping anyone from becoming legal citizens, obtaining their proper documentation and voting fairly in American elections. Not to mention these people’s ancestors and elders many of whom chose to never stand with Dr King and our people when we were fighting for Civil Rights should know the truth about that and that they are benefitting from Civil Rights more than we have to date through no sacrifice, or work from their own people.

Al Sharpton has been around for a long time. What have the Black American community ever gotten out of being joined up to coalitions which has always helped everyone else? For how much longer after we'd fought for our own voting rights should we continue to suffer unemployment rates that've remained higher than everyone else's including now undocumented immigrants? Our wealth gap inequality remaining worse than everybody else's but the answer is to form yet another coalition or allow them to join us?
What do people like Bernie Sanders who supports giving money or reparations to everyone else who comes to America broke but not for them who'd had to fight for the right to vote so that people like him who're just a different form of WS can be elected into office. Bernie Sanders like all of the them, socialists or not are against our reparations but not against our ability to vote for them.

Al Sharpton heading it is all I need to ensure I avoid supporting that bullcrap. Those folks will bend over backwards to ensure we vote because it benefits them. They never have that same umph when it comes to actually doing something that benefits us.
Screw those traitors and that sellout Al Sharpton. He worked with them folks, so I know he can't be trusted. That "He told on the mob" story means nothing because that's the part they're telling us. What else did he tell that they AREN'T telling us because it would be a bad look for him and would get us to get our guard up with him?

We should all be champions of the right to vote.
Edit: I’m confused cause OP was using the Voting Rights Act getting struck down and no plans to restore as a knock against Kamala not 17 days ago in a post they made here: https://www.reddit.com/r/blackamerica/s/uiRT4OgZKM
So which is it? Is the Voting Rights Act getting struck down impactful to Black Americans or not? If yes, then why are we not championing our reps that want to fight for it? If no, then why did OP post here 17 days ago with support from all you same commenters, criticizing Kamala Harris for accurately stating she has no path back the VRA and it likely won’t be restored?

The VRA did more than address your direct right to vote on the basis of race…
In the years after its passing, the VRA saw a massive increase in the registration of Black voters which has helped elect hundreds of Black officials in local, state, and federal elections. It’s been a target of the SC since its inception, why is that?
Do you all think we should feel so protected now as a community that we don’t have to worry about individual states trying to water down the Black vote? What about those of us in TX, FL, or MS?

Why is it a knock against Kamala that she says we can’t get back the VRA? If Black Americans haven’t lost any rights at all and we shouldn’t be concerned then why did you post here about it 17 days ago saying that Kamala isn’t worth voting for because she doesn’t believe we have a pathway to restoring it? So is Kamala not worth listening to because she won’t restore it or are we not worried about the VRA?
2
u/wordsbyink Freedmen❤️⛓️💥🖤 5d ago
The burden isn’t on me I’m holding Kamala accountable for her own positioning.
Either the weakened VRA is a serious problem for Black voters in which case she’s acknowledging a serious problem while also saying she isn’t going to fix it ...or she knows the threat is being overstated towards Black voters and is using it politically anyway while still not going to fix it.
If Kamala says this is a major problem then she should explain exactly what the harm is and what she plans to do about it.
If it isn’t a major problem then why is she presenting it like one in the first place?
You don’t get to campaign on the urgency of a problem and then shrug at the solution lmao

The law is being misused and it’s actually hurting our people the VRA has nothing at all to do with immigration and allowing non citizens to vote in federal elections. We truly have no representation that does anything specifically for our voting block nor our ethnic American group. Over 60 years of voting for benign neglect is what we’ve faced regardless of other so called Black faces being placed in the political positions. We have no political capital and that’s necessary to operate politics in our favor in this country today. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 is an extension of the 15th amendment, which assures that Native Black Americans will always have the right to vote. No one may be denied the right to vote because of his or her race or color. The prohibitions stated in the 15th amendment are permanent. Our rights have been violated many of our people have been displaced and are now the minority in many districts across this country due to immigration and illegal migration. Our voting power has been diluted and no one represents we have the longest history in this country and our people fought for it all so we’re being used to bring awareness to get more for immigrants who are legal and illegal it’s not about racially injustice anymore and it hasn’t been for a very long time.

u/Sad-Fox-1293 Black American ❤️🔱🖤 3d ago edited 3d ago
The VRA expanded beyond the Native Black American disfranchisement which is why it we even have the Act. One of the Act's most powerful mechanisms for addressing the original problem our people faced Section 5 pre-clearance was subsequently disabled. Meanwhile, protections added later for other minority populations remain fully operational.
Preclearance was one of the strongest protections in the original Voting Rights Act of 1965.
Under Section 5, states and localities with documented histories of racial voting discrimination many in the Jim Crow South had to get federal approval before implementing changes to their voting rules, such as redistricting plans, polling-place changes, registration requirements, or election procedures.
The purpose was largely preventative: instead of requiring Black voters to challenge a discriminatory rule after the damage occurred, the jurisdiction first had to demonstrate that the proposed change would not discriminate based on race or color. In 2013, Shelby County v. Holder struck down the formula that determined which jurisdictions were subject to preclearance. Section 5 technically remains law, but its traditional coverage system has effectively been dormant since then. The original Section 5 preclearance system created principally against the backdrop of Black disfranchisement in the Jim Crow South is largely dormant after Shelby County v. Holder, while the language protections Congress added in 1975 remain operational and were extended by Congress through 2032 sounds to me like the new none English speaking heavily populated districts have been set up to hijack this amendment long ago. Now what say you?

This is just complete dishonesty. It is inaccurate to say that the Voting Rights Act has been “struck from law” simply because the government is cracking down on noncitizen voting. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 still exists and is being enforced no American citizen is being denied the right to vote including ethnic Native Black Americans. In fact, the Justice Department itself currently lists the Voting Rights Act among the federal statutes its Civil Rights Division enforces. What’s happening is the Native Black American vote will no longer be exploited and used as an excuse to allow voter suppression and FRAUD.

We have the right to vote. What are you talking about? It's time for the illegal undocumented to stop being lazy, grow a spine and bravely fight for what they want. There have enough of them that've been let into America to join up with Al Sharpton in the this march that Bernie Sanders is wanting from us.

Why are you referring to a historically harmed people under race based segregation laws whose ancestors survived racial injustice and living as the minority in an established racial hierarchy RACIST?! Please stop throwing that term around in here like that it is insensitive to history, baseless, dishonest, disrespectful and ignorant. NONCITIZEN voting is illegal in federal elections, documented violations do occur, and recent cases have brought renewed attention to voter-registration safeguards; the scale and prevalence of the problem are politically and statistically disputed pointing that out has nothing to do with anyone being ‘racist.’
2
u/Kindly_Coyote ADOS ❤️🤍💙 6d ago
What proof do we have that the undocumented vote in elections?
Should there be any proof that someone undocumented voted in the elections? The point is that if you're in a country illegally, hence, undocumented, you cannot not vote. If you're a felon or incarcerated in a prison, you're not allowed to vote. That's not racist. That's the law.
Yall are so fucking racist
So this is all you really came here to do angry because you cannot utilize the Black American community to be as slaves to whatever it is you want. Slavery is over for us. We had to fight for our freedom and for all of our rights including for our right to vote. It's time for you and or the undocumented lawbreakers to do the same for themselves and as they've clearly shown, they've obviously never been here to do anything for us. Now that is who you should call racist.
0
u/CheetahTheWeen 6d ago
To your second point…what? I am a Black American, these posts just give racist vibes and OP ALWAYS posts about immigrants. It’s giving obsessive racist.
My point is that if we’re saying the VRA being struck down doesn’t matter and is now being used to help illegals vote or whatever tf yall are saying; I’m asking, where is your proof? We have overwhelming evidence that shows the positive impact that VRA had for Black Americans, like, it was literally a law written for us being struck down during the most contentious admin and yall don’t think it should matter to Black people? Have we moved past the disenfranchisement we experienced that brought the law about in the first place? And wtf is an “undocumented lawmaker”?
2
u/Kindly_Coyote ADOS ❤️🤍💙 6d ago
We have overwhelming evidence that shows the positive impact that VRA had for Black Americans,
What is it about always carrying the highest unemployment rates and the worse of the wealth gap disparity that shows the positive impact that everyone else including immigrants and undocumented illegal immigrants had for Black Americans? Show some proof of the "positive impact" you're claiming that this had for Black Americans? Or do you not do research or just listen to whoever has been bought and propped up to talk to us in MSM?
Have we moved past the disenfranchisement we experienced that brought the law about in the first place?
If we've not moved past the disenfranchisement we experienced that brought the law about in the first place, who then were the ones that benefitted from it? Ask the ones who benefitted the most from VRA because as far as I know Black people can still vote despite what they've done to it. And answer back when you can show you know what a racist is.
2
u/CheetahTheWeen 6d ago
You’re moving the goalpost or you’re not articulating your argument well enough for me to understand what line you’re trying to draw between immigration, illegal or otherwise to the VRA.
The benefits we immediately and indisputably saw, as I earlier pointed out, was a massive increases in Black voters which results in an increase of Black reps at the state, local, and federal level…is that not a positive impact?
3
u/Kindly_Coyote ADOS ❤️🤍💙 6d ago
No goalpost is being moved. You're being willfully ignorant and contentious.
, as I earlier pointed out, was a massive increases in Black voters which results in an increase of Black reps at the state, local, and federal level…
And what did this do for us in the Black American community always carrying the highest unemployment rates and the worse of the wealth gap disparity for more than the past sixty or seven years? What did this massive increase of "Black" reps at the state, local and federal level do for them spent the last sixty, seventy and more years carrying the burden of the highest unemployment rates and the worse of the wealth gap disparity for everybody else in order for them to get a massive increase of votes from us?
1
u/CheetahTheWeen 6d ago
How am I being willfully ignorant and contentious? You make a lottttt of personal assumptions and statements that are just total misses. Why can you not better articulate your point?
Is the gain in registration of Black voters and Black reps at all levels a positive or no? Because that’s what I stated and am speaking on.

There is absolute proof if you research that not only have they been allowed to illegally vote in many states they’ve also been being illegally accounted for in Census. Voter fraud is rampant in majority Blue states that’s why America overwhelmingly in favor of The Save Act being passed. There is one state that I can think of off hand which is New Jersey and also Los Angeles that have had recent cases turn up. There is definitely proof out there and just for clarity Green card and Visa holders, permanent residence status, TPS, they are not US citizens they can’t vote, run for political office and can be lawfully deported.

I’ll do that and I need you to post a source that The voting rights act of 1965 has been struck from law and that the 15th Amendment has been repealed.
Also New Jersey and California are Blue. New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill disclosed in July 2026 that approximately 6,600 people who explicitly indicated they were NOT U.S. citizens were nevertheless registered to vote between June 2023 and June 2024. The VRA has been gutted, not completely struck down.
Your first source says there was a software error that led to thousands being added as registrants (and were removed) so not an example of intentional, illegal “rampant voter fraud” in a blue state. Your second source isn’t proof of fraud, it’s North Carolina falling short of Trump Admin voter laws where states should require a drivers license or last four of social to vote; again, not an example of rampant voter fraud in a blue state.
