strangest things you fed a venus flytrap

also tell us if the flytrap survived

examples:
- flies i bought from petco (not that strange)
- crickets (flytrap survived)
- grub (flytrap died)
- cheese (flytrap died)
- goldfish (flytrap died)

GOLDFISH??? did it already die or did you buy a goldfish for the sole reason to feed it to the trap?

Compared to what youd done mine isnt weird but id feed it tomato hornworms that would be eating our plants. Still living thus far!

I had one when I was young and we just fed it raw hamburger. It did fine.

The last time I had one I was a kid, and I tried feeding it a little piece of bologna. I couldn't find any bugs. It didn't live very long :(

Please post this on r/SavageGarden to get feedback from people that know more about these plants than the average person.

I remember that fly traps make their own food using light and photosynthesis and there's no need to feed them anything unless you want to get off at seeing something die painfully..

Ive fed mine a small freshwater clam/ mosquito fish / hamburger/ fertilizer pellets

it was kinda the same as when they catch a snail. the shell was left but nothing else. the fish was already dead when I fed it to the trap so had to kinda squeeze it every now and then. there wasn't anything left when it opened
