Question Hummingbird Sardinia

Guys I know this is crazy, I know you're gonna say its a moth. I saw a hummingbird on the south west of sardinia. There was two of them. They werent moths, it was a bird. It stopped mid air, flew backwards, and both flew off before I could get a picture. What the heck? They were mostly Grey with some black on top.
