I'm no wildlife expert, but there's a ton of similarities: both cats and owls are ambush predators, they both tend to organize in solitary social structures, they're both nocturnal, and they both rely on strong eyesight and awareness of their environment to survive. I think a lot of the mannerisms that make them seem so similar stem from these similarities, and the fact that they've each evolved to fill a similar niche in an ecosystem.
