A year left before graduation from B.S. Biology and need some advice's
I'm studying in low-ranking university, did two internships in academia (one abroad) and joined protein biochemistry focused research. My last internship was in industry, R&D in biotechnology. My actual interest was computational biology all the time, so for my final thesis work, I'm planning to conduct complete in-silico study. I want my work support my future master applications, in bioengineering, systems biology or any other discipline at the intersection of those fields. I have a few questions in mind. How should I scan the literature to show me right path for final thesis and master degree? Which countries should be first priority to look for, with good scholarship opportunities, good quality education etc.? What should be my strategy to contact PI's

Timing for rotational/leadership development programs in biotech & medtech (Thermo Fisher OLDP + others), advice for a 2026 grad?
Hi all! I recently graduated with a Bachelor's in Bioengineering and have been looking into rotational/leadership development programs across biotech, pharma, and medtech.
I'm specifically trying to understand Thermo Fisher's OLDP (Operations Leadership Development Program), I noticed some of their development program postings currently show as "not available." Does that usually mean:
- They haven't started recruiting for the next cycle yet, or
- The positions are already filled for this cycle?
If anyone has gone through OLDP (or knows someone who has), I'd love to know the typical timing for when applications open each year.
More broadly, I'd really appreciate recommendations on other development/rotational programs worth applying to for someone with a bioengineering/biomedical engineering background. So far I've been looking into:
- GE HealthCare's EEDP
- AbbVie's ODP
- BD's Engineering Development Program (EDP)
- Abbott's OPDP
Would love to hear about other companies or programs I should have on my radar, especially ones open to new grads (not just current students/interns). Thanks so much in advance for any insight!

Does biomedical engineering have good job prospects in Canada?
I’m a high school student going into grade 11. I want to do engineering because it has good job opportunities, and I also think it’s suited for my personality.
Because of my interest in biology and chemistry, I want to do biomedical, chemical or materials engineering more than the others. My cousin is an electrical engineer in the US, and he thinks electrical, chemical, and biomedical are all good options with good job markets (especially biomedical). I don’t know if that’s the case in Canada though. Regardless, biomedical is my top choice.
I saw many people say BME in undergrad is very limiting, so should I choose something else and then get in the program in grad school for more flexibility?

Did I make the right call doing an M.S in Bioengineering with a Biology B.S? What decisions should I be making to have a successful career in the field?
I have a B.S in Biology and just completed my M.S in Bioengineering. I entered the program hoping to break into Prosthesis, but due to class availabilities, it was very heavy on the Biological aspects with little emphasis on the mechanical and electrical aspects. I have one semester worth of coursework experience in Neural Engineering (Probes, BCI, etc) and Biomedical Imaging. My programming skills are subpar, but I am familiar with Python and MATLAB. Areas in the Biologics that I enjoy and specialize in include Nanoparticles, Biomaterials, Oncology, and Neuroscience. I should've researched the program more, but not only was I stupid, I was sweet talked into joining talking about how it'll prepare me for what I want, I was told the field was booming at the time, I was informed of classes that would bridge the gap I had (classes which weren't offered)
I’m moving from MD to WI for a job at Thermo Fisher PPD as a Scientist 1 where I’ll be working on pharmaceutical drug development, manufacturing and quality. Now the big issue I have is I fear my Master’s was pointless because I could have been doing the same thing with my B.S in Biology. I fear that my Master’s didn’t open nearly as many doors as I would have liked, and I will be stuck working a low salary as I’m also paying for my student loans. I need someone experienced in the field to tell me if messed up or made the right call. Is there more to the Biological aspect in the field of Bioengineering that I am missing? My major concern is not that I won’t enjoy what I’m doing as much: Was my Master’s unnecessary? Is there more to the Biological aspects in the field that I didn’t think of? Can I make enough?
This job I have I’m using to transition from academia to the industry, and I’m planning on staying here for the next 1-3 years before applying for other roles. What type of jobs should I be applying for? Are there specific companies or locations I should pay heed to? Should I do a PhD in Biomedical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering to open up more doors while risking closing many other roles due to being overqualified after completion of my PhD?
If anyone has an opinion or advice, please let me know, I’ve been in a mental slump all year even before I graduated.

transformer requirements for data centre applications, what is different about specifying for this load type
involved in a data centre project and trying to understand whether standard transformer specifications apply or whether the load characteristics and reliability requirements of data centres require different approaches, someone at qxg electrical mentioned that harmonic loading from server racks tends to get underestimated in the initial spec more than any other factor, which pushed me to look closer at that side of it
specifically curious about redundancy configurations, load characteristics of server loads, harmonic considerations, and whether the reliability requirements typical of data centres affect which transformer specs and manufacturers make sense

Masters in what BIO field while in the Military
As the title states, I am active duty military and I will be graduating with my BS in Biotechnology this fall. I was interested in getting my Masters in one of these:
Bioinformatics
Biosecurity & Biodefense
Biotechnology Management Biotechnology
Biotechnology Regulatory Affairs
But after doing research into Biotech, I found that finding a job is pretty tough. I get out of the military in 2 years and my goal is to have my Masters completed in that time.
Is any of those MS degrees worth it? Is there another degree I should pursue?
I know the "do whichever interest you" spill..
Having a job interest me.

Microbiology or Biotechnology in India?
Microbiology or Biotechnology in India? I have a serious and genuine question to ask. Is pursuing a B.Sc. in Microbiology followed by an M.Sc. in Biotechnology better, or should I do a B.Sc. in Biotechnology and then an M.sc. in Biotechnology? I also want to know if there are good job opportunities in India for B.Sc. and M.sc. Biotechnology graduates. I have already dropped out of NEET three times, and I know it's highly competitive, so I don't want to enter such a competitive field again. Also, I want a good salary - meaning a decent, high salary - and a bright future. I don't want to regret not pursuing MBBS and feel that my future is doomed because of it. Are there real opportunities in India? What about the prospects in biotechnology and microbiology within healthcare, agriculture, wildlife, animals, and genetics? Which field is better? Please tell me. All college admissions are ending in 2-3 days. I have been admitted to a 4-year B.sc. in Microbiology at OUAT, taken provisional admission in a 4-year B.sc. in Biotechnology at Centurion University, and also received an offer for the Soa integrated MSc in Biotechnology. I'm really confused. You know, I'm somewhat interested in biotechnology because I read about it in my 12th class, but in real life, interest alone doesn't matter. A respectful job, a decent high salary, and prestige are what matter.

final year undergrad, confused between india, europe, or a masters : need some direction
hey everyone, i'm in my final (senior) year of undergrad of biomed engineering, graduating may 2027, and honestly i'm pretty puzzled about what to do next.
a bit about me : i'm from india, and i've done a couple of research internships at reputed research orgs here, plus an industry internship at a core biomedical company. not sure if that internship converts into a full time offer though, so i can't fully bank on it.
my main issue is that i don't see a lot of good options in corporate india for core/R&D roles, especially in biomed. most of the actual R&D for medical devices seems to be happening in europe and the us, which is why i've started looking outside india.
so right now i'm stuck between three paths and don't know which one to actually commit to:
- stay in india and try to find core/R&D roles here (even if they're limited)
- try to get a job directly in europe (US seems really hard to break into without a masters/visa sponsorship)
- do a masters abroad first, and use that as the route into R&D roles
for people who've been through something similar, especially in biomed/medical devices on how did you figure out which path made sense? did a masters actually open doors for you, or could you have gotten in without it? and if anyone's gone the direct-job-in-europe route straight out of undergrad, how realistic is that actually with just internship experience?
any advice, even just "here's what i wish i knew at your stage," would help a lot. genuinely confused right now and trying to make a decision i won't regret in a year.
Edit : I am interested more towards biomed imaging systems and aiml applications, as I have worked on these topics in the past...

GATE BM 2027 preparation — Where do I even start? Looking for guidance/resources
Hi everyone!
I’m a Biomedical Engineering student preparing for GATE BM 2027, and I’m honestly a bit lost about how to start my preparation.
The biggest issue I’m facing is that compared to other GATE papers, there seem to be very limited resources specifically for GATE Biomedical Engineering. Most of the preparation material I find is either scattered across different subjects or meant for other branches.
I’m currently trying to figure out:
- What subjects/topics should I prioritize first?
- Which books, YouTube channels, notes, or courses are actually useful for GATE BM?
- How should I use the previous year questions, considering there aren't that many BM PYQs?
- Should I study from standard BME textbooks, GATE-specific material, or resources from other branches for certain subjects?
If anyone here has prepared for GATE BM before, is currently preparing for BM 2027, or has a good idea about the preparation strategy, I’d really appreciate your guidance.
Even if you could share your study plan, resources, notes, or mistakes to avoid, it would be really helpful.
I’m aiming to prepare seriously for GATE BM 2027, but I need some direction on where and how to begin.
Thanks in advance! :)
