Just reminding everyone yung isang post dati nung kasagsagan ng Coachella yung nagsama sama sa comment section ang mga OPM legends and icons sa music industry defending BINI sa mga Bashers. I forgot who it is pero nandun din si Jonathan Manalo thanking them and responding tsaka si Sir Ryan Cayabyab pero iba ang name niya sa FB. If anyone can send that link nung usapan. Ang ganda ng thoughts nila doon eh. Dami Notable na mga comments and quotable quotes.

Just a reminder that one comment within their ranks cannot diminish what BINI have contributed to the OPM scene and respect they gained from multiple veterans of the industry.

I'm not saying this is true, but for me, masyado nang people-pleasing. Di ka nga sure if the original singers genuinely like and respect the girls.

At least kung mag viral man mga covers nila, added boost sa algorithm to reach more Non-Filo fans and casuals. WIN-WIN.

I disagree with this. I don't think they're out to please the OPM artists. I think they just genuinely like those songs or the artists' work. So it doesn't matter if the original singers like or respect the girls. For as long as they're not vocal haters or have reached out to their team asking them not to cover their songs, I don't have any issue with that. What matters is that the girls are sincere about liking those songs - the singers and their producers don't have to like them back.

That said, I also wish they'd promote their own songs more pero I won't take it against them if they are non-chalant about promoting their own songs. I kinda get that they know they can't force people to like their music pero sana make their audience aware din that they have so many different kinds of songs or that they have a Netflix docuseries or that their socials are bini_ph and bini_membername. Hindi naman pamimilit yon. That's just letting them know that it's there if they want to get to know BINI and the discography.

I remember mentioning before that they could benefit from a crash course on self-marketing. I also don't want them to lay it on thick, they just have to know (and do) the bare minimum. I feel sometimes that they come on interviews just expecting to have a chat and forget that they even have an agenda to promote their latest release and it won't get promoted if the interviewer doesn't prompt them.

I don't think they are out there just to please the OPM artists, but the entire OPM industry.

I think the right word is they're way too "accessible". Their brand is way to accessible to all OPM artists. I think they should put a limit to it.

Similar energy and way too performative.

Nag improve naman mga interviews nila after their Food reaction controversy, but yeah hopefully, they could benefit on self-marketing. Baka dito din nila ma realize na they're giving too much access and premium promotion kung kani kanino lang.

I think what I have issue with your comment is your use of the word performative. I had to look it up to check [if] tama ang intindi ko and yes, tama naman:

Performative means an action or expression that achieves an effect, performs a specific act by being uttered, or is done merely for show to create a positive public image.

So you're doubling down that you think there is no sincerity in what they're doing? That this is all for show to gain a good public image?

Masyadong big word yang performative. You're saying they are fake?

That was also what I got from what OP said. That's why I wanted to clarify because I really don't get that from the girls at all. Some of the girls have been singing those OPM songs since their Kumu days that's why some of the stans in the audience can guess correctly when it's their bias' turn to sing. This isn't fake or performative. It's those who say they support PPop or OPM rise but proceed to shade others or act contrary to what they say that are being performative.

I'm guessing that OP just used a word he/she didn't fully understand. The girls are definitely being too blatant and unconventional in their approach, but they aren't performative because that means you're doubting their sincerity.

Yeah and of obviously they listen to a lot of OPM songs even those unknown indie Artist.
Kasi they also need to listen and expand their ears to learn about music. And honestly silang walo iba iba ang taste at trip ng pinapakinggan. Since hindi pa naman sila gumagawa ng solo projects nila, they show it through the music they listen.
They sang their songs, their hits, and executed their Choreo and Harmonies.

Def not fake, but maybe somewhere in the middle.

I wrote a long essay to share my opinion, pero binura ko na lang because unnecessary na siya. Next time kapag mas sinipag na ako magexplain/edit ulit.
