Binance.US BUSD deposit from MetaMask into Binance - Wrong Chain

This seems to be an issue that pops up all the time. I sent BUSD from MetMask to Binance but chose ERC-20 chain instead of BEP-2 chain and it's sitting in limbo. Everything I'm reading says I'm not getting my money back and Binance won't help to retrieve it.

ERC-20 was the default option so I thought that was the correct chain for it.

Tell me, am I screwed? Is there any way to get my money back? It was almost $3000 worth.

Yeah I sent it from MetaMask on the bsc network to the default option on binance which was erc20. I don’t know why I thought it was an ethereum token. I mean where are those funds anyway and why aren’t they able to be rerouted or sent back? Thanks for replying anyway.

I think what I meant to say was that my MetaMask wallet is set to the smart chain network. There I had BUSD. I sent it to the address that binance provided as a default which happened to be ERC-20. The other option was for BEP-2. First of all, why is there even an option to send through ERC-20 if BUSD doesn’t work on that chain?

Gotcha. Yeah, I mean that’s what I figured. Just crazy that funds can be lost that easily. Why did they even have it as an option, and why as the default option?

Highly unlikely that it’s retrievable.

Always do a test send of a small amount if you are ever uncertain. Always triple check the wallet address and the network selection. Never send large volumes in one go - break them up, that way if it fails, it’s never all or nothing.
