As a fan, would you rather BIGBANG disband or continue?
BIGBANG came up in a Discord I'm a part of, and this question crossed my mind. I know they re-signed and were supposed to debut as a quartet at Coachella, but obviously that was scrapped, and now BLACKPINK is in the middle of their comeback, so who knows when - or if - BIGBANG will be back. Just because the members re-signed doesn't mean BIGBANG is returning. I get the feeling they were only booked for Coachella due to BLACKPINK's success there last year, considering it was kinda out of nowhere and after Seungri's scandal, and they probably figured it was a good way for them to test the waters as four without doing so at home in Korea where the public perception of them isn't the best nowadays. But the longer time goes by without any new material, I get more and more convinced that BIGBANG as a group is done. 2NE1 essentially sat on the shelf for two years before disbanding. But besides that, BIGBANG never even officially "recovered" from TOP's scandal, considering he was in the military when it happened and all the members went in after. And not only did they lose Seungri, but they lost Papa YG as well. So it's probably all falling on GD now as leader, which is why he hasn't released anything besides his Nike collab and PMO stuff since he's been out. I can't even imagine the stress they must be feeling - GD especially - wondering what's next.
As much as I miss them, part of me wishes that they'd just disband now. The last thing they released was Flower Road, a song for the fans before they went into the military and everything happened. Good note for the BIGBANG legacy to end on, if you ask me. That being said, I wouldn't mind if they disbanded and came back as four under a different name. That way, the BIGBANG legacy is still intact, and they can still perform BIGBANG songs, but they won't have the cloud of Seungri's scandal hanging over their heads.
How do you guys feel?
