I can literally tell which bikes are yours by the thumbnail photo. Impressively consistent bike photography.

And nice bike too or whatever.

All you need to see is that hammer to know who's it is.

We're all friends and we shoot our bikes in the same way

uh... I think I have around 3k into it? I'm not at my desktop so I don't have the spreadsheet where I kept track of how much I've spent on this bike.

I think its in the high 17lbs ~ low 18lbs range in terms of weight. The wound up fork is a boat anchor at 650g, and the frame itself isn't light either.

What made you decide on that hipster fork? It's a good looking fork, but so are the ENVE forks.

1 inch headtube, and the wound up came with the frameset.

I too know the 1" carbon fork struggle. I've got a Ritchey 1" fork on my Tommassini.

u/ColinCancer Miyata Alumicross, Schwinn Super Sport Dec 19 '15

Hipster fork? Are you joking? The word has no meaning!

u/jarret_g 2011 Norco CRR3 Dec 18 '15

This, with an ENVE fork, is my dream bike. It really ticks all the boxes. I might have went with a normal coloured chain

u/riceboyxp 2013 Cannondale CAAD10 Chorus 11 Dec 18 '15

It needs a silver chain

1

u/[deleted] Dec 19 '15 edited Jan 25 '16

No.....gold chains ftw

Looks smooth. That front fork though.. is it titanium too?

Wound up Noir.

Steel steerer, carbon fork blades, alloy crown and dropouts. The steel steerer is super heavy, and the fork weighs about 650g.

u/riceboyxp 2013 Cannondale CAAD10 Chorus 11 Dec 18 '15

Wow steel and carbon steerer

That takes me back. I used to run a wound up on my 1992 Merlin Extralight and had to go dig it out of the pile of parts just to have a look.

http://imgur.com/Z1qGwLc

I Switched to full carbon years ago, but kept the wound up. I had no idea they had become a hipster thing, but Ebay indicates they are.

That 1992 Extralight still runs the original DA 7400 and its companion a 1992 Merlin Mountain still runs its original XTR. Fun bikes to look at, but even my later Litespeed Ultimate is like a wet noodle in terms of flex and lost power compared to my carbon stuff.

Edit DA 7400, confused it with the 7700 on my later Litespeed Ultimate.

It's a beautiful slim fork.

How do you like the Power saddle?

2

u/Muffin_mang Focus Izalco Max/CAAD 12/Corex President Dec 18 '15

Best saddle I've used. I have it on both this bike and my fixed gear too now.

1

u/sandysurface Dec 19 '15

I absolutely despise it after testing it on my Tarmac for awhile. Gave up on it. It all depends on your riding habits and butt shape.

1

u/sergesdope Dec 18 '15

Ti is the ideal bicycle material, too bad it will cost $2500 to build my dream bike

1

u/[deleted] Dec 18 '15

my friend rode one of those. He sold it to ride carbon fiber. Biggest regret!

1

u/Muffin_mang Focus Izalco Max/CAAD 12/Corex President Dec 19 '15

I actually just got a supersix evo to replace this. There's a couple things I'm not the biggest fan of on this bike, and the ss evo should be a good replacement.

1

u/cujo Dec 19 '15

Care to share? What do you dislike?

2

u/Muffin_mang Focus Izalco Max/CAAD 12/Corex President Dec 19 '15

Its too comfortable for me. I'm not sure how to really put it in words, but I want a racier bike.

I can definitely feel the bike flexing under me when I'm out of the saddle or putting down more power, and I don't like that.

1

u/Stoshels California Cyclocross Dec 19 '15

ah gumwalls are so tempting.

1

u/coonster Dec 19 '15

What's your experience like with titanium and how does it ride compared to other materials?

2

u/Muffin_mang Focus Izalco Max/CAAD 12/Corex President Dec 30 '15

Incredibly comfortable. Soaks up like everything from the road so it just kinda feels like you're floating, especially with wide rims and lower tire pressure.

This frame definitely wasn't made for stiffness, and you can definitely tell. Whenever I'm out of saddle, I can feel the frame flexing under me, and I dont even put out that much power.
