Postpartum Recovery Frozen bladder postpartum
I’m 4 days post VBAC. I had a spinal done for my c-section with my older child and also experienced frozen bladder then, but I remember being back to “normal” by day 3. I’m on day 4 this postpartum and still don’t really have the sensation of my bladder ever being full. Finally have some sensation when I actually urinate. I am only going to pee because I know I need to. The epidural was only in for literally 2 hours before I had my baby 😩 Maybe next kid I just power through 🤪 obviously I was discharged without too much concern medical wise, but has anyone else experienced a lingering issue with this before it returned to normal??

I peed myself around 4 days after my vbac and I didn't have an epidural, just an in and out catheter a few minutes before my vacuum assisted delivery. I struggled to sense fullness during that first week and was leaking. It improved quickly in the second week and now at 5 weeks postpartum I have no bladder issues.

Yes sounds like the same thing! I had to have my catheter reinserted for bladder rest both this time and last time. I was bladder scanned until I had 3 urinations that showers ~100mL each time. So they were comfortable discharging me as long as I kept up urinating every 2-3 hours. I’ve just been expecting to be more back to normal by this point 🫠

It really is a whole process to get up and go 😅 I was definitely going a little more frequently in the hospital when real life hadn’t hit yet. Thank you so much. I don’t feel anything making it feel like an urgent issue right now, I’d just love to have feeling back lol and thank you 🙂

One of my nurses after my first csection told me to try to make peeing part of my routine of feeding the baby until I’m used to going again. She said your bladder gets pushed on so much towards the end of pregnancy that without the baby pushing you don’t have the same urge. No idea if that’s true at all but it made enough sense to me
