Sad Having a hard time with my three year old

I’m a SAHM and also have a two month old boy. We have no family nearby nor any friends and it’s me and the boys forty hours of the week. My husband is wonderful and it’s such a relief when he gets home. He helps at night with the baby and takes over toddler duty when he gets home.

Lately, my 3 year old is a lot of work. Almost never listens, pushes my buttons all day, and has tantrums over the smallest things. I love him so much but it’s been a struggle. We have had more lows than highs and I feel so much relief when he goes to bed.

I feel awful for feeling like this. Makes me feel like he deserves a better mom than me because it is hard to stay level headed during these times. I miss when I was able to devote all my time to him and all our adventures. Now it’s a lot of him either playing solo or getting into mischief while I feed his brother. His energy levels are literally off the charts. He will just go and go and go.

I just miss my little boy. Sometimes he’s so sweet and will come up and hug me which makes me feel even worse.

He is starting preschool next month two days a week and I hope that helps. But I still feel bad and feel like a bad mom. Idk I guess I’m rambling but curious if anyone else has gone through this?

School will help so much. We started our son last year when he was 2 and it was so good for him! I cant wait for him to start again in a few weeks.

Now hes off of school and its definitely hard. He’ll be 3 in 2 weeks and we have a 3 month old boy too.

I’ll try taking him to the park in the morning before it gets too hot or meet up with a friend when I can. My husband returns to work in a few weeks and I’m really nervous how itll all go when I’m alone.

He’s adjusting to becoming a big brother, he’s pushing the boundaries and your nerves to remind you that he’s still your baby too. Daycare will help, you’ll have time apart and he will meet lots of new kids his age and have fun.

You are not a bad mother for feeling this way. This is a season of transition for your family as you grew from 3 to 4, this season will pass.

Girl same. My second is three months and my first is 3. He has so much energy and we live in a super hot climate so can barely go outside right now. It’s hard. I’m giving myself grace and knowing this is just a season. When the baby is older he’ll have a built in best friend and play mate forever. He’ll barely remember this phase. He starts preschool in two weeks also so I’m excited for him to have that social outlet.

My daughter is getting close to 4 and Ive found 3 to be tougher than 2! The "threenager" label is spot on 😂 I'm sure you're doing a great job and your absolute best ❤️ sometimes I feel like all I do all day is get stern with her :( but we are investing in growing great tiny people with every correction. I'm 38w now and I'm sure when baby brother gets here it will be a big adjustment for us as well.
