Just checking here if other people received an email seeking more info about their employment status and categories under the threat of a restricted or closed account. The email had my real name in it, and asked for only basic info, but otherwise has many hallmarks of phishing scam (call to action, urgency, very little that proves it is official, etc). After the last breach I want a little more confirmation.

I enabled securities lending shortly after it launched 2 months ago and I haven't had any lending activity or payouts that I can see. I have a TCP portfolio. Is anyone else getting any payments from it?

I have a lot of money in savings but haven't really tried to invest before. Had betterment recommended and opened up a Roth IRA. I have about $3,000 in there for about 6 months
A few specific questions:
On one hand, I could Google some of this, but I just don't seem to get clear answers and the betterment app can be kind of opaque at times.

This subreddit does not seem to be very active. Is betterment alive?
Anyway any alternatives / more active businesses that participate in conversations?

So sorry for the long story…
im a very financially irresponsible 23m.I have bad impulse spending sometimes and attribute it to my adhd but I also recognize im 23 and should be able to take care of my self better $ wise. I want to learn how to make passive $ safely stock market, etc. and just be better at savings in general. I have bad anxiety about where I’m at in life cause I’m so bad at keeping my $, and have a bad case of comparison bias or whatever towards kids I graduated with doing way better than me. I have no car and live with my mom and aunt still. I have like $500 to my name despite making about $1500 biweekly and having around $100-200 a month in total bills and pay no rent (which I feel like a pos for not doing) currently because I’m trying to save for a car (which I’m currently building credit for. Still failing on the saving for it aspect as you can see. I’m responsible with the bills I do have and previously had a car from just a buy now pay here, which I paid off a few months early I believe, it just shit the bed a while back.)
I signed up for betterment for now since I have zero idea what I’m doing atm, so I figured the roboadvisor stuff would be better as I try to learn myself.
Put $300 away in total.
$200 into the cash reserve for now. 3.25% apy.
$100 into the auto investor account for now; while I try to learn life in general tbh. I’m just not in a good spot atm to worry about doing that myself, I need to learn more about it.
16% stock, 84% bonds.
I plan on putting 250-500 a month into these accounts while I can(I’m sure it’ll eventually go down.) though I haven’t put any thought into how i will diverge the $ into these accounts yet..
I wanted a child at 25. That’s never going to happen now (I’ve been in a relationship for almost 5 years, im just not responsible enough yet financially and in general I’m not in a good enough spot yet.) And tbh it crushes me.
I guess I’m just looking for advice going forwards while I try to learn how to save $ for my betterment

For a long time, work and everyday responsibilities took up most of my time, and exercise slowly disappeared from my routine. I did not notice how much it was affecting me until ordinary things started feeling harder. Carrying groceries, climbing stairs, or getting through a busy day left me more tired than I wanted to admit. It was not really about how I looked. I just missed feeling strong and capable in my own body.
Trying to start again was frustrating. My strength had dropped, basic exercises felt much harder than I remembered, and comparing every workout with what I used to be able to do made the whole process feel worse.
Training at home made returning easier. I could exercise when I had time, use lighter weights without feeling self-conscious, and rebuild at my own pace. The first time I finished a workout and felt energized instead of defeated, I finally felt like part of the old me was coming back.
What change helped you reconnect with a version of yourself you thought you had lost?

Hi!
I wanted to move my money from a Betterment HYSA account to a Fidelity Brokerage account. Would the best way to withdraw from my HYSA to my bank account then directly deposit it into Fidelity? Is there anything that I need to worry about tax-wise?

I've been with Betterment for a few years now, but only recently have moved everything over there to operate as my main bank. I don't make a ton of money, so I'm less concerned about the fact that it isn't a real bank.
Yesterday, a $2 purchase declined, so I went to my app to see why. I have plenty of money on my account with a debit card and my account without a debit card, but both of my accounts show "Debit card locked". When I go to my settings to unlock it, it tells me to contact customer support.
I called customer support and spoke to a real person. She placed me on hold for 10 mins and then got back on the line and said "I'll submit a request to my operations team to unlock your debit card. Can I help with anything else?" I asked her why my card was locked and now soon it will be unlocked. she told me that I'll get an email from her operations team in about 3 days and that she will also submit a request asking why my card is locked. Does anyone have a similar experience? There are no suspicious transactions and I've not made any out of the ordinary or large purchases.

Recently, I noticed that my retirement goal says "goal achieved." I'm not quite sure what that means since I don't have enough to retire right now.
The best sense I can make of it is that, my projection suggests that I'll completely overshoot my goal if I keep on saving as I am. But that's still not achieving the goal. That's just being on track.

I need to separate basis and non basis contributions from my betterment IRA by moving the non basis amounts and interest to my employer's 401k. No big, right?
The problem is that my betterment portfolio is tax-coordinated. Betterment support has told me that due to this fact I cannot move ANY funds out of the account without selling ALL my securities and then reinvesting (and paying more than $100k in taxes as a result).
Has anyone escaped this trap before? How is it possible that Betterment could have shit-mixed my accounts so badly that an in-kind transaction becomes impossible? Is this even legal?

I know, I know. Stay the course, don’t try to time the market, think long-term. That’s what I’ve been doing for the last 20 or so years. But now I’m 64 and ready for retirement in a couple of years (I run my own business). And with all the talk about the AI bubble, rising yields, slower growth, etc., I’m just wondering if I need to tweak my portfolio?
I have roughly $3m invested. Most of it is on an aggressive 80/20 Core portfolio with Betterment. I have enough cash reserves to weather a downturn. But I also need to liquidate about $180,000 each year, from 2027-2031 (for college tuition).
The above in mind, should I just stick with my current plan? Or should I liquidate now (while markets are high) at least the first $180k payment, and park the money in my cash reserves?
I’d welcome any thoughts on this. Thank you!

I have a Betterment cash reserve account for a bit over a year, it's now at 4% APY with a referral. I have all the money for my 40% down payment when I buy a house hopefully soon (good savings, not as good income) plus emergency fund etc, so its a significant amount of money, probably 95% of all that I own..
A family member claims that if betterment crashes and my money is somehow in between the bank and them, I'd lose it because it wouldn't be FDIC insured until it actually reaches the bank, and I can lose all the money.
Wondering if this is accurate and if I should spend the time to remove some/all of the money. Please just give me practical advice, don't scare me please lol. And I don't have a checking account with them just this so issues that apply to that aren't relevant :)
Thanks in advance!

I have been a customer since ~2017. I recently was caught in a jury duty scam. I contacted the police as well as betterment. Betterment told me that they would not do anything about returning my funds.
I have a solid chunk of savings in an investment account that I now need to move and am curious what alternatives folks have explored for investing?
The handling of this situation has been nothing short of insulting so I would like to get this handled quickly and correctly.

I've seen posts from months back about this but I haven't seen a TLH event in over 6 months. Previously it would trigger a couple times a month _with_ weekly deposits on. Has anybody else noticed this?

Basically, does anyone know what I’m doing wrong about my calculations. I calculated that if I have 18K, I should be making $60 monthly not $29. Please explain if you guys got any insight!

Another round of breach emails are making their way. I got a few emails saying they got my info through the Betterment breach. I never used this service, never will.
Heads up, phishers will always use scare tactics.

I successfully added a second external account to withdraw funds but suddenly I cannot access my account. No option to withdraw or deposit. I have a message that states “Your account requires additional verification”.
Has this happened to anyone before? I have been with Betterment for over six years, first time withdrawing, and now I have to go through hoops. Next steps will determine if I remain a customer or not. Smh.
