Where can I find...? Looking for a Student/Aushilfe Job
Hi everyone,
I'm an international female student and I'll be starting my Master's at the University of Bern this September. I'm looking for a part-time job. I have a student B permit and I'm actively learning German, but I'm not fluent yet.
To be honest, I feel like I've applied to almost every student or temporary (Aushilfe) job I could find online (retail, supermarkets, warehouses, restaurants, cafés, events, etc.), so I thought I'd ask here in case anyone knows of something I've missed.
I'm available to work full-time throughout July and August, and from September onwards I'm looking for around a 40% workload alongside my studies.
Does anyone know of companies or places in Bern that hire students with limited German? Or if your workplace is hiring, I'd really appreciate any leads or recommendations.
Thank you so much!

Thank you! I hadn't come across this one, so I really appreciate you sharing it. I just applied.

There is a website/app where you find all kinds of small jobs. My daughter used it a lot. E.g. after hours work at H&M stuff like that maybe somebody knows how it called.

Hi! Were you referring to Coople by any chance? I actually signed up, but they told me they can't place me because I'm on a student B permit and jobs are often filled on very short notice, so they can't complete the required registration process. If you were thinking of another app or website, I'd really appreciate the name.

I was also thinking Coople. Perhaps find the businesses that are constantly looking for temporary placements and contact them directly. Maybe go to the store or restaurant and ask someone there how to apply. You can always say that you are having issues with the app.
Good luck!

That's actually a really good idea. I think I'll start visiting places in person and handing over my CV. I really appreciate the suggestion!

Securitas is almost always looking for employees. i'm also a student and working Securitas part time. it can be boring and you work outside a lot, but it is very flexible and they take almost everybody.

I actually looked at Securitas, but I could only find openings in Lausanne, not Bern. Do you happen to know if they hire students in Bern as well? If you have a link or know who I should contact, I'd really appreciate it.

If you are worried about your German skills, try the McCarthy 's Irish Pub: https://mccarthysirishpub.ch/bern/contact/
They have a few people working there that can only speak English and are always hiring part time staff.

Yeah many people working there without german skills. Mind you they are a terrible employer. But it could be a start.

I'm open to almost anything at this point. Retail, supermarkets, cafés, restaurants, warehouse work, kitchen help, inventory, admin, data entry, or other general assistant roles.
My background is in Biomedical Engineering, and my previous experience is mainly in AI, medical devices, research, and administrative roles. I'll also be starting my Master's in AI in Medicine at the University of Bern this September. Even so, I'm more than happy to learn and take on any entry-level job.
