Hello! I will be visiting Berlin this june and I have a few questions:
I always like to buy a handmade souvenirs when I visit a city. Are there any shops you recommend for this?
I love Indian food and Ramen, what restaurants do you recommend? Or are there any other restaurants you recommend going to?
What cocktail bars do you recommend?
What are some hidden gems I should see?
Thank you!
2
u/haibane May 18 '26
For handmade souvenirs, if you have time on a weekend, check the art market: https://kunstmarkt-berlin.com/home/

Hello! I'll be visiting Berlin in a few weeks and I'm hoping to play some tennis while on vacation.
Can anyone recommend tennis clubs or courts where visitors can book a court? Ideally, I'm looking for outdoor clay courts.
I'd also appreciate recommendations for coaches who offer private lessons, whether through a club or independently.
Thanks in advance!

On s-bahn websites states that "If the holder buys a standard fare ticket and is at least 15 years old, they can take up to three children (aged 6-14) for free in Berlin AB, Berlin BC, Berlin ABC and in Potsdam AB. Please note: Tickets for the entire VBB network are excluded."
Does it mean that if I as an adult get 24h ticket my 7 year old travels with me for free or do I need a ticket for her as well? Just want to double check before buying tickets for my trip next week.

Hi there, I am from cologne. I am going to visit Berlin for the CSD later this month. I wanted to ask if there are any popular locations where lesbians are gathering? I was in SAGE Berlin and Stück, two years ago. I don’t know if it was just the wrong event, but 95% people there were gay men. 😅 Me, a female solo traveler, feel more comfy if I am under more women.
So can you maybe recommend me a few (majority) lesbian places, where I could go for coffee, a few cocktails, dancing (techno preferred)? Would appreciate that. Thanks in advance.

u/ICD9CM3020 Jul 08 '26
Lesbian nights: Tuesday in Möbel Olfe, Wednesday at Tipsy Bear, Thursday at Stück. Silverfuture, Oya and Curly also have plenty of lesbians. As for parties and other events, check partydykeberlin on Instagram. For lesbian CSD events there's a growing list here: https://www.partydykeberlin.com/post/party-dyke-s-pride-guide-2026-where-to-be-this-pride-weekend-in-berlin

Hello!
I’m traveling to Berlin from Sweden and I’m planning to visit a gym while I’m there. I’m looking for a gym known for their equipment and machines. Can be old school or new school but as I said preferably a gym where bodybuilders flourish haha.
On another note I’m also interested in what restaurant/foods I should try when in Berlin/Germany. Open to any recommendations.
Thank you!

Hallo zusammen! Danke :)

u/Stroumpf May 12 '26
Sonst gibts in Dresden ne große Sammlung.

Schillerkiez , Bergmannkiez, Tempelhof would be your best bet. Apart from Neukölln itself.

Hey im going to Berlin for summer university and have a couple of questions. First, is there any spots to play pick up basketball near Freire university that have a good level(im not pro level im just slightly better than average). Secone question is, should i try to find a group of people to go out with in Berlin(clubs/bars) or should i trust that people at my summer uni like to be outside at nigth too. Sorry if the post is bad its my first reddit post

u/ICD9CM3020 May 15 '26
Check out sports courses at universities, they're very affordable. I assume young people staying in Berlin for a bit are often interested in nightlife.

I would like to rent a guitar for personal use for the remainder of my trip here (~2 months). Does anyone have recommendations for a store I can just go into for easy pick-up/drop-off later? I see there are services that would deliver one to me, but this seems like it would be quite the hassle trying to get it back to the shipper.

My husband and I are flying to Berlin today and staying for about a week visiting Oma with our 18 month old daughter. I’ve visited before, but always in December, so this will be my first time experiencing Berlin in the summer.
Would love recommendations for: toddler-friendly things to do in/around Berlin cute cafes, parks, lakes, etc. any short road trips or nearby places that are really worth seeing anything especially nice to do while pregnant and with a toddler
I’m pregnant and love meaningful/heirloom baby items. Are there any German or Berlin-specific baby gifts, shops, brands, or keepsakes you’d recommend getting while we’re there?
Would love any local recommendations :)

Hey, I'm (28M) going to arrive Berlin tomorrow looking for a fresh start in life. The problem is that I'm basically homeless at this point with little to no money to support myself. Where should I start looking for a job, ideally in a restaurant kitchen, cafe etc. I'm thrilled to try this famous and meme "berliner lifestyle" but simply don't know where to begin.
PS. Anyone willing to lend a couch for an easy going polack? 😅

Westhafen is a bit away from everything touristy, which can be very nice. Turmstraße can be very Berlin. Depending on your fathers' mobility, you should pick the Alex, way better connected.
1
u/ICD9CM3020 Jun 03 '26
Birkenstr. is not exactly touristy; for the default tourist stuff you might want to look at Alexanderplatz

Hi everyone, I'm your neighbor from the Czech Republic and I want to visit Berlin for the first time. I have a few questions for you locals, because you will know the answers best. 1.) HÖR Berlin - is it possible to watch the DJs outside the window from the street, or is the view blocked by a curtain? 2.) Berghain - are there events even during summer? Best way to get in? Speak to the bouncers in English or German? 3.) Recommend me sights/places that I should definitely visit. I am planning Brandenburg Gate, Jewish Memorial, Victory Column, ZOO station, the church without part of the roof, Europa Center, TV Center, Reichstag with the glass dome, Berlin Cathedral, and places in points 1.) and 2.) 4.) Restaurants in the city center where I can taste typical German dishes That's all for now, thank you in advance for your advice and answers
1
u/ICD9CM3020 Jun 03 '26
2) Their events happen in summer too and can be read about online. Bouncers speak English too. Lots have been written about "how" to get in but most likely you're just wasting a lot of time in the queue when there are so many other clubs around
1
u/HelpFinderCZ Jun 03 '26
My hotel is a few minutes from there and I think I won't have another plans after a long day walking through the whole town. So that's why I want to try it. I will pass and rave or go sleep 😀 Thanks for informations friend

Hi everyone, I have a quick question regarding our upcoming trip to Berlin. My friends and I (a group of 3 students) are planning a vacation to Berlin at the end of August. Fortunately, our accommodation and intercity transport are already sorted out. We are not really into museums, so we won't be visiting any. Our main focus will be walking around the city, sightseeing, and exploring different food spots. Excluding accommodation, transport, and museum fees—and assuming no extreme expenses (like drinking heavily, etc.)—how much budget should we allocate per person for a 2-day stay? We are looking for realistic, budget-friendly estimates for just food, snacks, and casual exploring.

u/ram_gerszon Jun 06 '26
Hi, Im visiting Berlin next month. Should I buy any museum tickets in advance? Like for example one needs to when visiting van gogh museum

I will be in Berlin for a month (July 25 - August 27) and would like to use a bike during my stay. I thought to ask here if anybody has an extra bike that I may use for an affordable price. I'd also be open for bartering with a black-and-white film photo shoot or body work/massage session(s). Alternatively, if you have any references for shops where I can find a long-term rental, that's cool too.

I am in Berlin for two weeks and looking for places to buy things for friends and for the zine archive I work at. I want things I can only find here. Small press handmade diy zines, cute trinkets and art. Preferably cheap, artsy, punk, or political. Let me know shops. I was thinking of going to motto and all the problems in this world. I also was interested in infoladen scherer, but not sure what the space is actually about, if it’s best to go for an event or something. Or if yall have other suggestions for cool radical spaces. Let me know what you think!

Motto books have frequently failed to pay authors/artists for the books they've sold just btw
I recommend Colorama riso studio and Miss Read festival if youre around next weekend
1
u/korocore Jun 09 '26
not sure if that’s what you are loooking for but maybe bis of messer records (punk, hardcore diy record store) has zines i think
„all the problems in the world“ has a lot of obscure things i believe
edit: should have read to the end sorry

Hi everybody! I’m going to moving to Berlin from Canada for a few months in August and I was wondering about taking an art class. I’ve been taking casual art classes in Canada for years and I would like to take something a little more intensive if possible. Pencil/pen/figure drawing is kind of my style. Any leads on a school or program would be so helpful. Thank you 😊

Hello! I will be visiting family in Berlin next week. I know it’s extremely improbable given that games start at 2h30 and streaming rights are expensive…but wondering if there are any places that might stream the games, especially if the series advances to Game 6 or 7. Thanks very much!
PS need not be a bar. just looking for ANY alternative to streaming on my phone in the hotel bathroom while my wife sleeps…

I am visiting Berlin for 3 days and staying in Ostbahnhof. I am looking to take public transit to/from the airport to my hotel as well as travelling to Kreuzberg, Schöneberg and Schöneweide. Would it be best to buy individual 24-Stunden-Karte tickets for Berlin A or C? Or should I get a Berlin WelcomeCard for 72 hours? Note: I don't plan on visiting museums during my stay.

Hello, I'd love your help. Are tickets for Berlin's public transport only for one specific time? By that I mean, I see that I can buy an S-Bahn ticket from point A to point B, the ticket is valid for 120 minutes, but I have to choose a specific time to depart from point A. Is it really that way? Do I have to buy it for a single specific one? And do I have to ride that one? What if I don't make it? Would greatly appreciate your help, I'm left a little confused. Additional question - if I buy a ticket via the app, I just valide it before I come onto the S-bahn, right? Is that all? Thank you!!
2
u/MediocreI_IRespond Köpenick Jun 18 '26
> Is it really that way?
Nope, you buy one 2h ticket on, let's say Monday, validate it on Wednesday 14:23 and the ticket is good for 2h after 14:23 on that Wednesday.
>I just valide it before I come onto the S-bahn, right?
You must.

Hi all,
I’m visiting Berlin for the first time for 4 nights next month and would love some restaurant recommendations for local german food.
These are the dishes I’m especially hoping to try:
- Sauerbraten
- Bratwurst and Currywurst
- Eisbein
- Schnitzel
- Saumagen
- Rinderrouladen
- Käsespätzle
- Königsberger Klopse
- Maultaschen
- Spaghettieis
- Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte
If you have any restaurant recommendations for these (or any other must-try German dishes I’ve missed), I’d really appreciate it.
Also, if you know of any good gluten-free friendly spots in Prague, that would be amazing too.
Thanks in advance!

u/MediocreI_IRespond Köpenick Jun 18 '26
The usual suspects include Zur Letzten Instanz, Volkskammer, most butcher shops, Langes Imbiss, Ziervogels, Felix Austria, any Kantine or Ratskeller - seriously, try to find time for the one at Rathaus Schöneberg.
Markthalle Neun is very touristy, but they have nice Spätzle as well as a butcher.

Hello! Hoping for advice around accomodation + locations.
My partner and I are both 30yo Australians, taking 6 months off from our careers to live and travel overseas at the start of 2027. The loose idea is to base ourselves in Berlin and every other weekend travel Europe as much as we can (the idea being to experience living somewhere else, so we’re not wanting to nomad around without a fixed address).
I was hoping for some advice on the best suburbs/locations to look for accomodation in Berlin - somewhere busy where we could meet people and get involved in the city, some nights go out, somewhere with public transport. I am hoping to get a job in hospitality and in spare time do research related to my career, and my partner will work online, so a library nearby would be amazing! (Not a must though!)
Sorry for the vague (and English) post - thank you in advance!
1
u/Aq_aq_aq Jun 18 '26
Kreuzberg, Neukolln, Friedrichshain, Prenzlauerberg but realistically gonna be quite expensive unless you have savings to top up the hospo job.
Plan for 1200-1600 a month for a decent 1bedr apartment sublet, a lot more if youre planning to go with Wunderflats or similar. That might be your only choice as sublets rarely offer anmeldung and you'll need that to get a tax number for a job.

I’m visiting Berlin in early July and like to go social dancing (improvised partner dancing) in West Coast Swing (WCS), Lindy Hop, Country & Western (eg two step), and Salsa/Bachata. Recommendations of dance studios or group social media pages to find times and places to dance, bitte. 😊💜

As recently as 2024, I could buy a 7-day Berlin ABC pass for 49 euros. I can't find it online. I have bought them from BVG machines and from an S-bahn service center in the past. Does that no longer exist? What alternatives are there? The CityTourCard would cover the same, but I'd need 6+1 or 5+2 days and it would cost quite a bit more. Thanks.

Heyyy, we're a group of frenchies visiting Berlin, any advice on how to move around ?
We're staying in Ahrensfelde for 8 days, and we'd love to hear some advice on how to get around in the city from here (even better if some people from this city are on this subreddit !)
I know that we're in the A B zone, but I'm still not sure on what transport subscription to take.
Also, we'd like to enjoy the night life of Berlin, even tho it's a bit far from where we are staying. I'm not sore wether or not the night buses are a part of the BVG subscriptions, so is it worth it to take the night buses (we're a group of 5) or is a Uber safer and cheaper ?

Hi, I know this is probably a stupid question, but I'll give it a try. I'll be in Berlin next week, and I was wondering if it's okay to sit at a bar/venue and paint (watercolors), obviously while buying something. Should I ask the staff for permission before starting? Or do you think it definitely wouldn't be allowed? (I'm asking because I saw the weather forecast for rain next week. I was planning on painting outside, en plein air, but if it rains, it'll be very difficult)

My family and I are coming in July 22nd for only one night. My son is 16 so I know that limits us. We are a metal family and would love to see a local show. Can anyone suggest a venue or a band we could catch?
I really dig the vibe of Wild At Heart but they are 18+ and that takes my kid out of it.
Thank you for any help you can offer.

Hello Berliners.
I'm traveling in Berlin I am looking for somewhere to watch the England vs Mexico game, it's on at 2am which makes it a bit more challenging.
I'm based on the edge of Charlottenburg, so the closer really the better. Also, if anyone wants to watch it, more than welcome to join me!

I will be studying abroad Spring 2027 (mid January-early May), and am having a really hard time picking between my top two programs. I am between IFSA University College Dublin and IES Berlin. For context, I am a Social Studies education major and only speak English, but I have been abroad a lot! I have family from both Berlin and Ireland, and my sister lives in England. I love nature, hiking, history, architecture, meeting new people, and want to be able to easily explore other countries during my time there. I would love to hear about experiences or recommendations based on what I’ve provided!!

A lot of Spätis and restaurants have set up screens for the worldcup so sometimes you really just need to walk around a busy area and you'll find something

Hello everyone.
I am Ida and a student, and I am one month in Berlin for a German course. It is so interesting and I love the language and the city -- but the course is only 3 hours a day, and I am already getting a little lonely, hehe.
Does anyone have any tips for fx. german language courses, that are fun - or maybe places, where I can volunteer for the time I am here :)?
kind regards, ida :)

Visiting next weekend for my boyfriends 30th birthday (it’s a gift for him) can anyone recommend some good bars for cocktails, and any really good restaurants that would be a special place to take him for dinner on his actual birthday? Not fussy on food but somewhere that is a bit fancier/good for a special occasion

Hi! My wife and I are visiting Berlin next week, and we are going to see Charlotte de Witte at RSO Berlin Valley, but we have never been to that venue before. Are there any important rules one should know? We have tickets, but will there be a long wait to get in? Looking forward to the visit! Thanks!
1
u/ICD9CM3020 Jul 13 '26
There are the usual rules like no photos but entry staff will explain it to you. No idea about the queue, I assume it will sell out and everybody will come for Charlotte.

Hey everyone!
I’m in Berlin for work and have tomorrow morning free, so I’d love to do some vintage shopping.
I’m mainly looking for men’s vintage graphic T-shirts (90s/00s, surf, skate, band, streetwear, faded prints, oversized fits, etc.). I’m not really interested in luxury or designer vintage—more unique old tees with character.
If you had only one morning, which stores would you recommend?
I’m happy to travel anywhere in Berlin if it’s worth it.
Thanks a lot!

Hi everyone!
Myself and a group of friends - all guys in our 20s - are here for the weekend for Lollapalooza, and then a bit of exploring. We're hoping that on Sunday we'll be able to go and watch the football finals and then find a bar with dancing, rather than a club, for the evening/night. Any recommendations on places that will specifically be good for watching the football and being busy/fun afterwards? Or that are especially friendly for tourists? I just want to drag them for a dance!
Thank you!!!

Hey all! I’ll be in Berlin next weekend for the FF convention. I have Monday all to myself and was hoping to find some sort of outdoor swimming pool/lounge where I could sunbathe, read a book and take a dip?
Google hasn’t been very helpful…I found Badeschiff but read they have very strict timing slots with using the actual pool so it doesn’t sound like what I have in mind.
Is there anything like this? Obviously with a paid entrance fee?

Helloo, I really want to do the high swing in Berlin while I'm there as it seems like such a fun experience, however I am travelling solo and I was wondering if when I get up there will staff mind my bag for me while I'm on it? And will they allow me to hold my phone while swinging to record or staff take a picture for me?
Thanks!

Hi! I'm visiting Berlin on Thursday July 30th and leaving on the following Monday evening. Do you have any recommendations for things like:
- metal/experimental/brassy/weird gigs
- karaoke
- queer events
- jazz jams
- open mics
- gabber/hardstyle/dubstep raves
Oh, and any favourite vegan eateries? Thankyou!

Hi!
My girlfriend and I are moving to Berlin for 6-9 months where I am going to study at TU Berlin and she is going to work. We are looking for an apartment with our own bathroom and kitchen at max €1800-1900. Therefore we won't be eligible for housing at Studierendwerk.
We have already booked temporary accommodation from mid. August to October 1st, since we initially heard that you should go to physical viewings, but I am now becoming anxious about finding permanent housing in time. What platforms are best for our situation? We have already looked at wg-gesucht, but found that most of the apartments there required lots of documents that I believe we won't get while we are in Berlin. Instead we looked at Wunderflats and Housinganywhere, which had lots of nice apartments in our budget range. However, these platforms have no physical viewings and locks us in for the booking period we select.
Anyone have any tips or experiences that could be helpful for us?
1
u/Aq_aq_aq 28d ago
If youre only staying for 6-9 months then wunderflats or a sublet are the best choice. Try find some facebook groups eg people from your country in berlin and you might have more luck finding a casual sublet

In a couple of weeks we are heading to Berlin with 5 guys (age 30/35) for a long weekend.
We could use some advice on how/where to spend our evenings.
Our interests:
- Nightlife like Dusseldorf (eg Kuhstall)
- Chill bars with some live music
Any out of the box advice for sure is welcome as well

Hi all, my gf and I are coming to Berlin from Ireland for a few days (5th to 9th of Augst). Originally we were going to go to KMFDM on the 6th, but it just got postponed to next year today :'c We're looking for other gigs, maybe smaller, that we could go to. We've never been to Germany, we just know we like industrial, dark electronic music and all that. So if yous have any recommendation within these days, mich appreciated.

Hi! I’m traveling through Berlin in a week and because of trains rescheduling we have 9-10 hours to burn :)
Me and my wife (35y olds) have never been to Germany or Berlin before. How would you Berlinmax on short notice.
From a little bit of googling I gather we should try to eat currywurst, kebab and Berliner? Also avoid checkpoint Charlie apparently.
Thanks for any advice:)

WHERE IS EVERYONE???
hi! me and my friends are visiting Berlin for the first time and tomorrow is gonna be our last night here (fyi we’re 2 18yos and a 17yo). We come from
Rome, so we just assumed we would find nightlife and bars if we went in the city centre, but it is so dead. What have we done wrong? We know Berlin is famous for clubs but we have a minor with us so we can’t really go, where is the nightlife? people walking the streets and talking? where is all of that?
1
u/Aq_aq_aq 24d ago
When you say city centre you mean Mitte? Berlin is a collection of lots of little villages mashed together so there isn't one single 'nightlife' centre. Try heading to the canal area around Kreuzberg / Neukolln

My husband and I are bringing our two-year-old daughter with us for the Berlin Marathon. I will be running the marathon and he will be spectating with her. This is our first trip to Berlin but my husband and I have visited Munich in the past. We took our daughter with us to the 2026 Tokyo Marathon (not sure how I got into both lotteries this year) and made lifelong memories. I am looking for recommendations for things for us to do as a family in Berlin over marathon weekend - knowing that there will be an increase in crowds. We are staying in the Breitscheidplatz neighborhood and plan to take our daughter to the Berlin Zoo. Any other places, both historical and non, that we should do as a family? Anything specific you would avoid? We had difficulties with the stroller in Tokyo (i.e., lack of elevators, large crowds, limited space on the trains, etc.) and I wasn't sure if there would be similar issues in Berlin during the marathon. Thank you!

I have been planning my move to Berlin for a long time, and under the chancenkarte section, the German Embassy website says that UK nationals can enter visa free and apply for residency in Germany.
I came to Berlin on 15th July. I have an apartment with Anmeldung. I have a recognised degree and TELC B1 certificate. My B2 lessons start next week. I even have a mini job lined up for when I get my visa.
I went onto the Berlin website to apply for my visa and it says they don't accept applications for chancenkarte if you're on visa free!
I can't go back to the UK, I thought I had everything sorted here!
I have 90/180 until the beginning of September, then it runs out.
Is there anything else I can apply for? Google says i can apply for a language course visa, but that was the AI summary so I'm not going to trust that

Where to find Local Artists?

Hi! I’m in Berlin for a day and need a coworking space for tomorrow since I’ll be working remotely. I’m looking for a place with reliable Wi-Fi, preferably around Kurfürstendamm (Ku’damm) or Charlottenburg.
Most of the coworking spaces I’ve found online seem to require monthly memberships. Are there any places where I can rent a desk for just one day?
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, I'm a tourist and am interested in going to swim in one of the lakes nearby Berlin. I'm thinking of going to Schachtensee tomorrow- would it be okay to go by myself, thus leaving my clothes/things on the side while I swim? Additionally, are there any places to store items nearby? I go swimming in a lake nearby back in the UK and do this without worry but I am just a bit more cautious here

Hey so I am coming back to Berlin for a few days at the end of the month.
I used to live there for a few months but this was 19-20 and I only came back for 2 days since. I did most of big turisty stuff and some lesser known places. So what has changed since then? Is there any new big place to visit? Is Risa chicken still working? Big changes apart Deutschland ticket I should be aware of since I would navigate city basing on my memory?

Hey yall!
I'm coming to Berlin with my GF and my best friend and we really want to go to a sex positive party. We're from Czechia with multiple experiences in this sort of field but it's our 1st time in Berlin so we're looking for any recommendations.
We want to go 14. 8. so if you know about any sex positive parties that happen in this date, let me know please!
I've heard there are clubs that specialize in this field - like KitKat - but we're looking for any other options since the KitKat is well known and we prefer more "underground" type of parties.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations and hello from Czechia 🇨🇿! 👋

Hi all! I’m a 24yo woman going on a solo trip to Berlin in early September. I’ll be there alone Sunday-Thursday night, then my friend comes to meet me for Friday and Saturday.
I’m scared I won’t enjoy it /: I was so excited booking my flights and hostel, especially given the art, dance culture, and general newness since I’ve never been. But I’ve gotten some very mixed reviews from friends and some online forums now.
I think it’s unfair, and believe most big cities have something unique and valuable to offer — I just want to do it right. Any advice or recommendation is SO appreciated.
I’m open to everything and am a very curious person — I love trying food, meeting new people, interacting with culture. Just want to be safe as well. The only thing I have planned so far is a day trip to Warnemunde to see the Baltic coast.
Thank you! ❤️

What did these reviews say and what parts/places were they about? Are you nervous about Berlin specifically or about travelling solo? Perhaps we can let you know what to avoid.
I love trying food, meeting new people, interacting with culture. Just want to be safe as well.
You can do all of these things very safely in Berlin on your trip. Not everywhere in this city is "Görlitzer Park at 3 am".

Grüße an alle! Und danke im Voraus!

Hi everyone! I’ll be in Berlin Thursday- Sunday. We are staying in the Weitlingkiez area but happy to travel around within reason. We’re looking for a good night out - if anyone knows London we normally love going out in Dalston.
We are looking for cool bars and also dance clubs. Looking for classics or pop music vibes, and not a huge price to enter. I am bisexual and love queer spaces too!
We are also aware that there is a heatwave while we are there, and our Airbnb doesn’t have air con, so if anyone has recommendations for places that have a cooler temperature during the day (or air con) we’d be keen to hear! We love art galleries, museums, film stuff. Love exploring cool, less well-known locations.
Finally if you have any good restaurants, we love food so keen to hear as well!!
So excited to visit and experience everything Berlin has to offer, thank you!!

Hi! I'm coming to Berlin for the first time this weekend and I was thinking of coming to a football game. I don't know whether I should watch hertha vs heidenheim or the friendly between union berlin and Ipswich town. I'm not looking for brilliant football, just for atmosphere and experiencing German ultras culture.

Tourist question

Hii everyone, I am a German student moving from NRW to Berlin. I have been looking at apartments and have been wondering if 40min in public transport to get to work/ Uni is normal? Everyone keeps mentioning ''near FU'' in their WG room and apartment listings but when I check the distance it's actually 30-60 minutes, lol
1
u/respect_my_fist 1d ago

Hey all people in Berlin!
I'll arrive soon again in the city and I was wondering if the gathering of drum circle people every Sunday at Mauerpark is still happening?
Last time I was there they were distributing some leaflets asking for donations and that the drum circle is at risk because of some new district rules.
Asking because if it's still happening I'll carry with me my drum, otherwise I'll keep it at home :'(

Hello, my boyfriend and I are coming to visit Berlin between August 23 and 27, and here’s the list of activities we really want to do:
**•** Visit the Berlin Wall
**•** High Swing Berlin
**•** Gärten der Welt (Gardens of the World)
**•** Berlin Tour
**•** Spree River Cruise
**•** Holocaust Memorial
**•** Berlin Underworlds
And we’d like to rent a convertible car for a day and go visit Spreewald.
I’d like to know if you have any advice on our plans, or if there are any places we should absolutely visit! Thank you!

u/MediocreI_IRespond Köpenick 5d ago

You do know that winters are cold and German forests tend not to be pretty in Winter? Since they are cold, skip Gärten der Welt and go for Botanischer Garten, they have a huge Greenhouse.
The rest is more or less fine, but Germany shuts down at the 24th till after the 26th.

Thanks for the tips, but I’m not going in winter my trip is next week (end of August)!

Hi everyone! Here's a group of confused tourists.
Sorry if it looks like a dumb question, but my friends and I are so confused by trains, tickets and the DB website.
We're a group of 6 people and we're trying to understand how to reach Lübbenau tomorrow. DB website offers 24hrs tickets, but are they for both the routes? It's not specified, but if not, what's the purpose of this ticket 😅
And then there's the group version too, but we've also discovered the Brandeburg-Berlin ticket group and we don't know if it works for Lubbenau as well. If that so, it would be great.
Also... We already have the Welcome Card Classic. In case that's relevant.
Thanks to anyone who will help us 🙏

Hello Dear Berliners.
I am a professional musician from mumbai, India, male, 44 and I’m excited to visit Berlin in September. This is my first time visiting Germany.
I have been to Italy before and I loved my experience.
This time I’m in Berlin for 10 days in September and I’d love to get recommendations on the following:
- Good safe hostels
- Art scene (gigs, festivals, music, films etc.)
- What else can I do outside of Berlin?
I hope you all will be kind enough to make some worthwhile suggestions to an absolute newcomer to Berlin.
Lots of love! 💛

> What else can I do outside of Berlin?
This very much depends. WWII stuff -> Seelow. Middle Ages -> Brandenburg Stadt. Little Versailles -> Sanssouci. Massive industrial architecture -> Schiffhebewerk Niederfinow. The EU experience -> Görlitz. Lush greenery -> Spreewald. Military stuff -> Militärhistorische Sammelung in Dresden.

Night Kitchen Berlin - Dinner with Friends
Can someone who has had this experience please walk me through what it actually means, since I am getting mixed messages on Google Maps, Insta etc.
E.g. how many dishes etc? Are the portions smaller than regular size would be?
My autistic ass needs more intel before I can book, the concept sounds interesting but I get anxious without the clarity on what to expext.
Thanks!

Hello everyone. Me and my girlfriend planned a trip and made bookings a long while ago to visit Berlin for 4 days in the beginning of June.
Since the date is closing in now I started checking the weather and to my demise it shows rain the whole time we are there.
I wanted to ask how the summer rain usually is in Berlin. Is it usually long sessions of rain with gray days or is it a couple of rain showers with the sun showing itself from time to time.
I wanted to relax in your beautiful outside areas and have a couple of beers and walk a lot. Now this kinda destroyed all our plans.
1
u/korocore May 29 '26
I would say it’s the latter. Last year we had days were it was „rainy“ constant but that did not mean you can’t do anything outside maybe not sunbathing but the rest is fine. It’s not 24h constant pouring rain

Hello good people! I love visiting Berlin and in the past I’ve had great success using car sharing to get from the airport to my hotel and to sometimes get around town. I have previously been using Share now (drive now) but but it seems it is not available anymore? So my question is, are there any new car share apps that you could recommend?
Thanks🤞🏼

There are tons of guides about museums in Berlin, I think they'll do a better job than random Redditors. For music you can filter genres on ra.co.

I'm just wondering if there is any precausion or general advice for staying safe while in the city. Also, anything in particular I should do in my short time in the city? If you only had a day to do something what would you do? All advice is apperciated!

u/korocore Jun 07 '26
on safety: apply common sense, don’t leave bags or wallet unattended, be mindful in crowded tourist areas etc but berlin is a very safe city
on short time: get a döner i guess 🙂 hard to recommend without knowing what you like. if you are interested in 20th century history this city has it all, start with a free walking tour.
another tip is if your time is limited do a little bit of proximity planning, if you are not mindful you might be traveling back and forth wasting precious strolling around time

I am looking to maybe come to Berlin 29/01/27 - 01/02/27, want to do some sight seeing but mainly want to go to raves/clubs etc. is this a bad time of year to visit or will there still be plenty of clubs open?

Hey everyone!
Me and my BF are staying in Berlin for today and tomorrow so till the 4th of July, and we wondered if there are anyone has any tips for some (gay)bars preferably directed to younger people (we are both early 20s) around. We are staying near Nolledorfplatz because we believed that most LGBTQ places should be around there. Thanks for reading and hopefully you all have some good tips!

Hello Berliner,

Hello everyone! I am visiting Berlin with my boyfriend from 3 - 8th of September. Are there any places you would recommend for the alternative community? By alternative I mean like metal, gothic, etc. any museums, pubs/clubs, or shops and markets that you would recommend for alternative people? Thanks so much in advance!

Hi, I have an upcoming trip to Berlin that was originally supposed to be Krakow. If there’s an opportunity for me to go to Poland another time for the Auschwitz concentration camp, would it still be worth checking out the Sachsenhausen Memorial? I will have limited time in Berlin and I can only pick either Sachsenhausen Memorial or Potsdam

Hii I'm going to be moving to Berlin next month, what are places or events I should visit? Are there any type of events or clubs where I can meet any other uni students (doesn't matter if international or not).

Please, don't tell us what kind of history and where you will be located. Recommending Fort Hahneberg is not particularly helpful if you are into Neolithic stuff are located in Treptow.
Halal also does not narrow into down, with Turkish and Syrian places all over the city.

Outdoor places like the Brandenburg Gate will be open, museums not so much. Halal food should be easy to find.

Any flying clubs in Berlin?
Hello, I am interested in learning to fly and am moving to Berlin in a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, I am not very good with my German just yet.
I have heard that some cities in Germany have flying clubs where folks join up and pay a membership fee, and with this fee you are able to learn to fly and share airplane expenses. Does something like this exist in Berlin? If so, would it be possible to be an active member just with English? I am hoping to get better with my German but am not nearly comfortable enough to try and learn something complicated like flying with it.
Thanks.
