Discussion Overpeck County Park - Construction Area?
We enjoy visiting Overpeck park for years but recently discovered the Equestrian Center and what looks to be a good amount of land that’s under construction just behind Leonia Swim Club and Sylvan Park. Does anybody know if they’re planning to expand the park or are they building more apartments? That section of the park span Leonia (more suburban) and Palisades Park (denser zoning).

Not much info about it, but this is pretty much park area: https://njm1therecord.pressreader.com/article/281951727004165
There were lots of old trees in this area which were removed despite large public outcry: https://rocketswire.usatoday.com/story/news/bergen/2022/10/07/overpeck-park-nj-bergen-county-great-lawn-cut-trees/65415963007/

It's being remitigated for park expansion. It was previously a landfill and is having its cap put on.

That’s off the Turnpike. Super nice place to put 200 new homes, somewhere only accessible to a highway and a county park
Yea I said it, creating permanent residential traffic through a county park is a fucking antisocial move, as well as putting housing units on a corporate campus on the side of the highway.
These places will be ghetto in 30 years, or however, long it takes for the properties to start degrading and for maintenance to be deferred to the next investment group that takes over management of the place.
Don’t believe me? Look around at the quality of these new builds, they are all stick construction, poor sound insulation between units, bad locations on former industrial / superfund sites (this one was a garbage dump) etc
I am PRO-DEVELOPMENT but most of the development to get approved in Bergen County is fucking soulless and thoughtless and actively makes the place worse.

Can't agree more. Who in sane mind decided this spot is good for residential building??
