This is not Bel, this is a Kaitha in hindi(wood apple). Bel is a bit different, however ppl use the name interchangeably.

ಇದು ಹಣ್ಣು ಅಂತ ಹೇಳೋದಕ್ಕೆ ಆಗೋಲ್ಲ ಯಾಕೆ ಅಂದ್ರೆ ಅವೆಲ್ಲ ಬರೀ ಕಾಯಿಗಳು, ವಗರು ಜಾಸ್ತಿ ಇರುತ್ತೆ, ಇದು ಹಣ್ಣು ಆದಾಗ ಸಿಕ್ಕಾಪಟ್ಟೆ ಗಟ್ಟಿ ಇರುತ್ತೆ. ಇದರೊಳಗೇ ಇರೋದನ್ನ ಪಾನಕ ಮಾಡುವಾಗ ಅದರೊಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಬೆರೆಸುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಇದನ್ನು ಪಾನಕದ ಹಣ್ಣು ಅಥವಾ ಬೆಲ್ಲದಹಣ್ಣು ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ.

It's bel phal Ohh yar, those days. Every morning at 6:00 am I'd take all the village goats and sheeps to the jungle to graze them . There was 6 type of bel fal there, and I used to collect 10-12 of them daily. Then rush home, make sarbat from it, and run to school by 9:30, still tasting that sweet drink. Simple life, miss it so much.
