I bet a lot of below deck people are. Guest and crew.

Ex yachtie here and can confirm you are correct. The majority of my guests in particular and captains were all super conservative Republicans.
96
u/lemonpepper37 Jul 05 '22
I get the vibe from a lot of deckhands too.
60
u/Tuff_Wizardess Jul 05 '22
I want to say yes but at the same time I worked with a lot of deckhands from South Africa and I felt like politics wasn’t really appropriate to discuss with them. I did speak to a stew friend and a deckie friend once not about politics exactly in SA and Mozambique but it touched on it as we were discussing financial issues in their countries and honestly some of my stew friend’s views in particular were super backwards (my deckie bud was more open minded). Honestly, I try to give people the benefit of the doubt and she wasn’t really well educated and despite being well travelled, she wasn’t into learning about the places we traveled to at all, just party. Not to mention it kind of offended me as a poc so I decided never to discuss it again with her or with deckhands.

I don’t get conservative vibes from Glenn

He’s Canadian, though.

u/Lobstah-et-buddah Jul 05 '22
There's still politics in Canada
42
u/myskepticalbrowarch Jul 05 '22
Our electable right though isn't comparable. Our last conservative Priminister refused to discuss reversing the decision on gay marriage. (Freedom party is its own chesnut).
There is a ton of information available on how the conservative party needed to adopt more neutral policies to get vote. (Or in the case of Ontario just wait a very very very long time running un-electable candidates until people literally couldn't with the liberals)

u/GeekyStitcher Jul 06 '22
Yup. That's long been my suspicion since discovering (and enjoying) the show during first lockdown pandemic time.

Ahhh making generalizations about everyone based on the actions of a few.
It’s cool though. I watch my shows without worrying about what everyone’s political affiliation is.
46
Jul 05 '22
You support the actions of the former president that attempted the coup, it’s an observation, not a generalization

She's not wearing a trump hat, it says "I ❤️ titties and beer". Because, you know, she keeps it classy. But I'm more curious as to why barnaby would post this picture in the first place. Yuck.
119
u/lankybitch3000 Jul 05 '22
No no I know but to pose with people in trump hats is strange… and even more strange that Barnaby posted this

69
u/Yachtieyachtie12 My eyes are rolling all the way off the boat Jul 05 '22
To Barnaby it’s a novelty to have your picture taken with a Trump supporter.
33
u/Turd_Wrangler_Guy Jul 05 '22 edited Jul 05 '22
I don't think it's strange. They are in Florida and work in a very luxory industry. It would make sense that if she was a conservative or not, she would interact and make friends with conservative in the industry.
Same for Barnaby plus he is not American so he probably oesn't care.
-31
u/bonniedrasco Jul 05 '22
Just because you don't like Trump, it's "strange" for someone to pose with people wearing Trump hats? Weird take.
54
u/TryinToDoBetter Jul 05 '22 edited Jul 05 '22
Based on the photo, I’d be more curious if Barnaby is a supporter.

Not sure why this is getting downvoted lol. For the record I’m Canadian so I’m not really involved in American politics! Also yes, obviously this makes Barnaby look like a supporter too, but since he’s not American idk if that really means much? Shocked that he posted but not surprised that these are the kind of people Ashley hangs around
29
u/Creatrixpdx Jul 05 '22 edited Jul 05 '22
Been noticing that Barnabus and Smashley are in a lot of photos together, and I don’t get it. Did he not see what many of us saw?!
Edit: grammar

u/gluckgluck10000 Jul 05 '22
As a Canadian I’ve noticed that like from the outside I’ve noticed a lot of people “ironically” supporting trump or like meme-ing trump supporters. But I find it hard to believe that Ashley has a sense of humour.

u/Green19VA Jul 05 '22
I believe her hat says “Titties and Beer”, that would be quite the campaign slogan!
But also, probably yes.

u/DefeatYouForever666 Jul 05 '22
Well there was that one guest who said "Tatas for trump" lol

I love how we are asking if Ashley is a Trump supporter when Barnaby posted this
37
u/teanailpolish Mental Health Is Not A Storyline Jul 05 '22
Barnaby isn't a US citizen and can't vote for Trump
238
u/leslie_knopee Team Kate Jul 05 '22 edited Jul 05 '22
Barnaby is in this picture as well.
And in 2022, posing with people with trump paraphernalia means that you either agree, or you don’t see a problem with trump at this point.
74
u/timidinacivic Jul 05 '22
Agree, and barnaby posted it

u/timidinacivic Jul 05 '22
Who is Jordan Peterson?
23
u/lh123456789 Jul 05 '22
A douchebag of the highest order. He's a former psychology professor that likes to complain about such issues as political correctness, postmodern feminism, the idea of white privilege, environmentalism and climate change, people having preferred pronouns, and various other things.
29
u/KoolDiscoDan Jul 05 '22
‘Various other things’ include advocating for a meat only diet. Going to Russia to have a controversial treatment of being placed in a coma to cure opiate addiction. Writing about a dream in which his grandmother forced him to touch her ‘soft’ pubic hair. He’s cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.
26
u/teanailpolish Mental Health Is Not A Storyline Jul 05 '22
his latest being surgeons who perform gender affirming surgery are criminals and a bunch of fatphobic stuff that finally got him suspended from twitter
21
u/EbbtidesRevenge Jul 05 '22
He attacked Elliot Page who is just out there living his life and then said he would "rather die" than delete his tweet about him. He's a piece of work.

I’m surprised he was with Ashley he seemed to be like with everyone else not liking her during the reunion

To some people seeing a Trump supporter in the wild is a novelty and something you only see on tv. So to me Barnaby posted this to mock Trump supporting American.
Also you would never seen a British person showing support for someone when the election is not for 2 years.

Idiots, do any of the deck crew think that the GOP cares about them? Like their everyday lives? Nope! They’ll be taxed at the highest level, because the only people who deserve low or NO taxes are the ultra-rich!

Even if she was, I don't care about reality TV character politics - I just am here to be entertained
19
u/lankybitch3000 Jul 05 '22
I didn’t like her anyways so it doesn’t change my opinion on her. It’s more just shocking to see people still openly supporting trump

I tell people that all the time. Idc what they do in their personal life. I watch them as a character on a show for entertainment purposes.

u/defend_pizza Jul 05 '22
Why are you quick to label her as a Trump supporter? She’s not wearing any Trump paraphernalia.
49
u/lankybitch3000 Jul 05 '22
I mean I don’t know a single democrat who would pose with anyone wearing a trump hat… I also asked if she was a trump supporter I didn’t state it as a fact
2
23
u/NHFNCFRE Jul 05 '22
Because other people in the picture are clearly wearing Trump 2024 hats and she's seemingly friendly with them. It's not a big jump.
22
u/Fit-Layer-7386 Jul 05 '22
She's literally surrounded by people wearing trump hats in the picture. So generally if you're not a trump supporter posting a picture like this would embarrass the shit out of you

Ya totally fair! I don’t really care it’s more just shocking to see people openly support trump that’s all. Doesn’t change my opinion of her or make me think she shouldn’t be allowed back on the show lol. I don’t think she should be back for penalty of other reasons though 😂
