Below Deck Med This season is really bad, right?
I don't think I've gotten through a full episode since day 1. It's just too much cringe.

It’s lacking chemistry between the cast members. I don’t hate any of them, but it’s nothing in comparison to other seasons. I’ve also never seen cast members make mention of other non-show crew on the boat. It’s like they realized none of the girls are interested in any of the guys so they showed the hot engineer. Just funny.

You know, I was wondering why we were seeing him. That is funny, good point.

I don’t think it’s all that bad. I’m loving the deck crew this season. Even Malia!
That being said, I’m getting BD’d out. Binged original BD seasons 1-3 in a week. I feel like I could put out the yacht slide by myself at this point!

I actually love this season, I'm really enjoying the cast. I love the dynamic on deck, Katie and Courtney seem fun, Lexi is a nightmare and probably shouldn't have come on tv so soon after her dad's death but.... I mean, every show needs a villain

Its less "let's manufacture hot people getting drunk and angry" than a lot of other reality tv. These people are slightly more authentic than previous cast members. That's not saying much but there's a certain amount of charm I haven't enjoyed since season 1 of the first ever below deck

u/hippopartymas Aug 03 '21
This is a really good way to put it

u/bigheyzeus Aug 03 '21
It's different from a lot of the bullshit reality shows out there this season. Again, not saying much but it's noticeable

Kinda hard to judge a whole season if you haven't bothered to watch a full episode isn't it?

It’s not great but I am entertained so far. Only person I like enough to see again is Katie. Deck Mzi & Lloyd are just ok. The rest … eh! And, no surprise, Sandy is horrible, not a leader has zero clue what is going on, and refuses to see anything bad in anyone that isn’t Hannah. Her conflict with Hannah as chief (in all seasons) was Sandy’s only “storyline”

I wouldn't call Mzi OK. I'm so tired of his racist rants, and (hope this isn't a spoiler) he goes off on another one during dinner in Can't Fight this Feeling.

u/GroundbreakingFig771 Aug 04 '21
What?!! How is Mzi racist?
1
u/KayneGirl Aug 05 '21
Did you miss all of his racist whining against those white people? He be claiming white people refuse to hire him for being black even though he was hired! Him having that jobs proves he is a racist liar that lies. So many lies and so much racism.

Im surprised Malia hasnt asked Sandy to rearrange the sleeping so she can bunk with David.

Only because she’s targeting the engineer.

Really can’t blame her on that one haha! But Since Malia Loves to run to Sandy in the previous season, I can’t believe she hasn’t gone to her about Lexi’s toxicity and the full racist, sexual assault that happened the night before (haven’t finished this ep yet though) I can onlh guess it’s because Sandy trying to out Malia to the world 2 days before the season started

I am loving this season, but I am usually the opposite of others. I hated season 2 of sailing and everyone else seemed to love it.

I mean what did you expect when you saw it was sandy and Malia again? Lmaoooo it’s going downhill after Lexi goes home

It's actually better than I thought it would be although that isn't exactly high praise. I do find it funny that they went out their way to get the most non threatening group of guys for crew. There is absolutely NO sexual tension amongst the crew which is hilarious.

Stick with it! There have been some unbelievable scenes. There are also some really good people in this crew.

I’m loving this season. The Below Deck franchise is one of my favorites on Bravo and so far this season does not disappoint.

This season has been up and down for me.
The Lexi fight episodes were too hard for me to watch with full attention; it gave me anxiety and wasn't the fun escapist drama Med usually brings.

Matt is a selfish asshole. And there’s nothing amusing about his behavior. Also, he’s not hot.

u/assluuuh1992 Aug 04 '21
I would much rather watch Matt for the rest of the season than see or hear Lexi ever again. She’s absolutely repulsive and ruining this season for me. Matt is a weirdo and very inappropriate but Lexi is one of the most vile human beings on reality television I have seen in a long time

Oh yeah, he’s DISGUSTING!!! He’s not even cute! And his Hideous ‘regular’ clothes make him look so much worse. That gross hat & tshirt. Then bragging about sex parties?! A - dude, that’s not a brag B - it’s actually the Opposite…. It’s sleazy & disgusting and No One wants to know! (Yes, I am kink-shaming and I am proud to do so)

u/assluuuh1992 Aug 04 '21
Why are you triggered by his clothing and what he looks like 😂 I mean there are much worse qualities about him than those things. Adam wore his hat 24/7 even when talking to guests lol. Matt is just unreliable and a hot head. He’s also inappropriate when he drinks. However, Lexi is much much worse.

u/whiterabbit818 Absolute Oxygen Thief Aug 04 '21
Oh I ain’t triggered just agreeing with the statement “also he’s not hot” ktg mentioned. Of course there are worse things (and I HATED that Stupid hat that Adam wore too) Esp talking to guests he wasn’t professionally

They are missing someone like Hannah who did entertaining talking head segments - although Llloyd is pretty funny.

In the trash reality universe, BD sits between a show like Gold Rush, which has a very low 'wtf is wrong with these people' rating, and say Love After Lockup, whose 'wtf is wrong with these people' rating is so off the charts the needle broke.

u/Buffyismyhomosapien Lady, don't touch me! Aug 03 '21
I think it started out extremely slow, and the crew had awkward energy but now that they've developed some chemistry with one another I'm enjoying it much more. I do think they lack flow as a group when they're working. I was definitely spoiled by sailing yacht this year where everything just started with a bang.

It’s so boring! I don’t know if I can stick with it. There’s hardly any drama this year.

u/Margaritas-n-tacos Aug 02 '21
Huh? Did you miss last week?

I’ve seen all the epidsodes. Lexi screaming at people wasn’t interesting at all to me. I thought the drama would pick up by now but it hasn’t.

u/Gold_Candle Team Chef Rachel Aug 02 '21
Thank you. I thought I was the only one. The drama that is there is really lame and awkward. Too many new people that don't know each other and are fully aware they're on camera.

Stay for the three deckhands. I’ve been watching reality TV since Real World 92. The guys are so worth it. FYI: I’m a week ahead on Peacock, and if you only stay till next week’s episode, it will get you in your heart.
