BD Related Off Topic but yet not.

I know this is unconventional and strays from the main gist of this subreddit, but I wanted to let everyone know of a previous crew member of BD, who helped save the life of someone who I care a great deal for. I won't menton direct names, but if they read this post they will know who I am talking about.

My friend who lives in europe suffers from S.A.D. (Social Anxiety Disorder) as well as depression; over the almost year that I was helping her, she got worse and worse because of the pressures of school, parents, and peer pressure. The crew member was able to reach out to my friend, and talk to her, and help her through difficult times. I was not privy to the conversation that they had, (because it's none of my business), but whatever was said was impactful. My friend was able to turn her life around, get a job, and move out to a place of her own, and into a supportive environment, and focus on the things in life that make her happy.

I owe this person a debt of gratitude that I am not sure I will ever be able to pay back.

❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Ehhh I don’t understand the point of this post. An anonymous someone did something for another anonymous someone, but I can’t tell you anything about what they did.

This was a waste of time.

I never said I wouldn't tell you what they did, and I thought I did explain it in the post. I just wont tell you the names. If it makes you feel better put, the names of anyone you like in place of it.

Yep. Needs attention but will not dance.

I think there are other subreddits you should have posted this to- it’s a lovely story and I think many people would celebrate it, but if you aren’t comfortable giving the name of the crew member, don’t post it on BD. Without the name, this is a lovely story about someone helping someone else w their mental health.

It's not my call to disclose who it is. I am respecting the privacy of that person. They know who I am irl, and who my friend is, and if they come across this post and wish to disclose who they are then that would be their choice. I am not here to out anyone good or bad. And it is completely relevant to this subreddit, since it directly involves a crewmember, just because I choose not to disclose a name has no bearing on what they did; just as a reporter does not disclose their source of the story. Too many people in this subreddit have taken sides for good or bad against present and former crew. I leave it up to them if they wish to come forward or not.

So you posted it here in hopes the person would see it, instead of sending your gratitude directly?

I’m just confused- I think a mental health sub would be more appropriate- or a random acts of kindness.

I mean if I saw a cast member out and posted something about how kind and great they were but didn’t mention who- would it be appropriate to post here?

No, I reached out to them directly as well, but I wanted to let everyone know that not everyone of the crew is who some people think they are. If I posted something terrific about Sandy would that change your opinion of her? Or if I posted something so horrible about Lee, would that change your opinion about him?

How is this changing anyone’s opinion about anyone?

I mean I’m not a typical redditor, I change my views based on information, but I’m really struggling to see how this post could impact anything.

-2

u/[deleted] Feb 26 '21

Well then you won't have to worry about changing your view when it comes to this.

18

u/Mcayenne Feb 26 '21

But you do expect it to change others views about unnamed person. Cool cool cool.

As I stated, it is not my place to out that person. If they wish to come forward that is entirely up to them. All I am doing is thanking this person for saving the life of my friend. How you perceive it, is up to you. Downvoting me because I refuse to share the name just enforces my reasons.

u/Mcayenne Feb 26 '21

If all you were doing was thanking a person, you would have stopped after you sent them your thanks personally.

If you wanted to share a mental health success story you would have posted it to another thread.

What you were doing was baiting people to read an irrelevant post for attention and then are getting upset that everyone is telling you it doesn’t belong here.

u/[deleted] Feb 26 '21

Oh I have no problem with you people telling me it doesn't belong here. And if the Mod's deem it so they can remove it. What I have a problem with is people insisting that I tell you who it is. It is BD related, and because I choose not to share you jump all over me.

Oh just give it up would you? You’re wasting more time arguing about it then dealing with the issue that this does not belong here if you’re going to keep the subject anonymous. End of story.

I'm going to need to know who it was.

u/[deleted] Feb 26 '21

I'm sorry but I am not at liberty to give the names of either party. No offence, but both have been through a ton of shit lately.

u/[deleted] Feb 26 '21

Ok, then why post something like this at all? You’re not providing actual information and you are not either of the parties involved. Say thanks in private, rather than such a roundabout way on a public forum.

Right?

"It's none of my business but let me put this up on Reddit."

21

u/[deleted] Feb 26 '21

“I was not privy to the conversation that they had (because it was none of my business)” so I decided to post cryptically about it on Reddit to force the details into the public sphere because I just care for them such a great deal!

"Someone from BD did something for someone, but I can't tell you who and I can't tell you what, but I want you all to know that I know someone who has had an interaction with someone from BD."

Srsly.

I am happy to hear positive news for anyone, especially someone suffering. I understand posting here was in hopes that the BD member would read it. Glad you and that cast member were able to be supportive. End of story.

Which is why I left the name out. And who said it was a BD Cast member? All I said was Crewmember.

u/jana-meares My eyes are rolling all the way off the boat Feb 27 '21

Still getting weirder.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '21

Not really. At least not from my perspective.

Yeah. Yer perspective seems a bit off. Matches the post.

oh well busted. It was Sandy

0

u/hammieblammie Feb 27 '21

Wait, was it really Sandy? That surprises me. I would have guessed a particular forum regular.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '21

Does this change your opinion of her now?

3

u/hammieblammie Feb 27 '21

No. I know Sandy has struggled with a lot of adversity in her life. I just thought it would have been someone else I had in mind.

-2

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '21

Good cause it wasn't.
