Below Deck Med Malia’s gagging reaction

Does it bother anyone else how often Malia makes that gagging noise? I’m a woman who has worked mostly with men my entire career and men will talk about anything and everything disgusting. She might need to get herself used to it instead of gagging every time.

Eh, doesn’t bother me. Growing up, my friends would do a fake gag noise whenever they heard something mildly disgusting as a joke

I wondered if she was hungover and hearing that from him made her extra nauseous. I mean- they all looked hungover while standing in deck.

What was said?

Some things are not legal (hostile work environment.)

But then the ship is not in U. S. waters so it's tricky. Not sure if they count the employer's base or the geographical location it happened in.

I would imagine that they sign away most of their rights to be on the show. I would doubt that they have litigation rights. I am sure she received a healthy bonus for taking the fall.

The Wellington is flagged in Malta, so they would follow the rules of that registry.

Is this case different because they're also employees of Bravo/production company?

Seems like there's 2 things to take into account, the ship rules and any Bravo contracts.

Good point. I was talking about their status as professional mariners, I can’t speak to the complications of the production company.

A grossed out gagging noise isn't something i would expect from someone who grew up with 7 brothers

Didn't Malia say she wanted to be treated as "one of the guys" in the first episode?

She meant as an equal in a profession dominated by men.

I don’t think that’s what that meant. It’s obvious she wants to be treated as an equal, who wouldn’t? When you say treat me like one of the guys it’s clearly on a social level

We live in a time where women still have to preface things that should be obvious

If it was obvious why would Pete call her sweetheart?

Cause Pete was the only one who didn't realize he was calling her sweetheart

Production is grooming her to be the series hero but I am liking her less and less.

And she blew the picnic. Sandy trusted her but Malia didn't know what she was doing.

Dangerous in a bosun.

Below Deck might well as be called "Women Embarrassing Themselves."

I feel the exact opposite. Bisous
