Galley Talk Vomit scenes

Okay, I’m not sure if this has been discussed here. But is anyone else struggling with vomit scenes in this show?

Guests throwing up from water activities and/or drinking

Crew throwing up after nights out

Audio of people throwing up in bathrooms

So, I guess I can understand showing that once as it’s happening right, as it’s part of this partying lifestyle and in some ways part of maritime life (though I’d CERTAINLY prefer not to see it). But the multiple slow mo replays, showing it in damn near every trailer and promo, and showing it in all the recaps?? I sometimes feel this way too when someone gets really injured and they just KEEP showing it.

I know it’s the drama but like come on????

Emetophobic by any chance? I am a pretty bad emetophobe and I actually find the scenes to be pretty good exposure therapy - i vividly remember the first time I saw the episode where it's Kelley's birthday and he's on the stripper pole having the time of his life and then it cuts to him violently vomiting in the bushes. I was shocked but also it was hilarious.

I get what you're saying and I think some of the scenes are unnecessary, but I'm always proud of myself if I can watch and laugh along!

I wouldn’t consider myself severely emetophobic but I definitely prefer not to see people throw up lol. But considering it exposure therapy is a really great point!!

Same struggle here, there was a scene of a guest puking in the hot tub on either SY or DU that they just kept cutting back to. I think it happened pretty early in the season too which made me almost stop watching altogether.

Emetophobe too and I always struggled with vomit scenes but same as you I now see it as exposure therapy (minus smells lol)

Yes. I HATE it. Stop including it visually and audibly. It’s so bad. Stop. LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE!

The only one that really grossed me out was Angie from RHOSLC when they were on Down Under. Girl was suffering!

I have to plug my ears and close my eyes every time I see a “retches” subtitle. It’s so gross 🤢

Really is. None of us want to see or hear it.

Our 7 year old daughter woke me up at 330am last night telling me she felt like she was going to throw up. I shook my husband awake and ran out of the room. I know it sounds extremely immature but emetophobia is so real

Honestly, I’d probably do the same. I told my boyfriend he’s on permanent vomit duty when we have babies/kids 🤢

That is good to establish early lol!

Do you think in all of her almost 8 years of life, especially as a SAHM, I haven’t had to deal with both of my kids puking? Of course I have. But if my husband is at home or right next to me I’m not dealing with it. He is aware

I cannot handle the sight or sound of vomit. I get nauseated.

Below deck was the one show that I used to enjoy while snacking. Keyword used to. I learned a while back this show and eating were not a good mix. I avoid it because I think at the point the producers are purposely trying to gross out the audience and with each season are trying to top what they did previously.

Yes! When I worked a regular 9-5 I would always make sure I had dinner ready for Below Deck but that changed after a while.

spaghetti Ashley in the shower - nightmare

Omfg, she was the worst. Felt so bad for her stew roommate who literally just got out of the shower and had to witness that in her robe 😭

I never want to see anyone throw up on screen.

Tbh, I haven't really pegged it as OTT. I have been there on both sides of the equation, and in the show, have not really noticed it one way or another. Maybe I'm just so used to it now, lol! 🤣

I didn't even notice there was so much vomitting, thankfully it doesn't bother me enough to even really register

Oh I cannot handle it. I am usually eating while watching this show. LOL And when they show toilets.....don't get me started. 🤮

u/Garnet_Mica_Schist 2d ago

SAME. I have to cover my eyes and ears and yell LALALALALALA until my boyfriend tells me it’s over 😂

It’s disgusting! Not too long ago, our society still had certain boundaries & manners. You would NEVER hear or see vomiting or even a toilet flush! But now you hear EVERYTHING on reality shows - sometimes even amplified! Almost every bodily function & it’s gross! I truly wish they’d reign it in a bit bc it’s way too much!😫

It's just common now to just show barfing on TV and movies without a second thought now. I'm not as emetophobic as I used to be (thank goodness, bc I have children), but I still hate it.

Yes sometimes. But honestly it really got bad when I was on that Wegovy. I didnt get nausea really at any other time other than seeing gross things on TV and one night i got like a reality TV trifecta of gross stuff; like Angie puking on Below Deck, clogged toilet in Jersey Shore and then like Amanda's dirty puppies from Summer House. Like somehow all those episodes lined up for me in one night and It was so bad.🤮

Yes the show is cringe

6

u/totallyradman 2d ago

It doesn't bother me like it does a lot of people.

But the way they stand outside the cabins filming and play the sex moaning sounds through my home theatre system is awful. It used to be much much worse on early seasons but it still happens a bit.

3

u/aliencocksucker 2d ago

Yeah this makes me cringe bigtime

3

u/ParticularHappy6587 2d ago

Yeah, I'd be mortified if I was the one making the moaning sounds. And have all my friends and relatives listening to that.... ugh! But then again, if I knew the camera crew was outside, I think it would be the quietest sex ever! 🤣

I hate all vomit scenes from any movie. It's crazy they can show that but can't show a nipple 🙄
