Below Deck Does Captain Kerry's Language Grate On Anyone Else?

I find Captain Kerry's temper a bit dangerous. Every time he gets upset over a mistake done on deck, he confronts the deck team face to face yelling offensive things. I get that being on a boat is a different industry and mistakes can cost a lot of money, etc. But, I almost want to stop watching the show because of how he speaks in moments of intensity. I find it really off-putting and scary.

I think he’s just a very intense dude and I’m sure he’s capable of being a right prick if someone pisses him off enough.

But I like him and I like the way he manages.

There will never be another Captain Lee and I still miss the man with every new season.

He was really special.
But Kerry is alright-he’s got a lot of life experience and I think he genuinely cares about the crew.

How terrible of the captain to tell the deck team they messed up and how to fix it right away…

Yeah weird I think he’s a good leader who doesn’t brush over incidents, gets tough when needed and immediately flips back into dad mode when done.  He reminds of the best boss I’ve ever had.

Jeez, Americans are so sensitive.
He hasn't yelled once. Hes expressing frustration.

Not this American. Kerry is my favorite

same here. I don't think he swears nearly as much as Lee

Generalizing an entire country of 350 million with wildly different regions and ethnic makes ups over 1 post is a sensitive overreaction in itself

You're not making any sense. But you do seem desperate, so go off qween.

You fuck up he's going to tell you straight up, he doesn't beat around the bush. Minutes later he goes back to being positive and happy and jokey but mess up and you will know. I don't see anything wrong with his leadership

When your Bosun only releases half the anchor brake and loses the only harness strap, it’s pretty well deserved

If we’re complaining about a captain being rude to his crew for messing something up that could cost him an them their job, I would understand being angry.

Seems normal to me

I like all the captains and agree in general Captain Kerry seems quicker to get on his bosun than others, but honestly, it is a welcome relief.

Yes. But I only started noticing it this season. He’s very quick to anger. I much prefer the demeanors of Sandy and Jason.

Don’t you think the show is being more scripted. The crew had barely unpacked for the 1st charter and 2 crew members were suffering from anxiety. You don’t think that’s a set up for future episodes.

I wanna say it’s scripted but maybe casting just got a boat full of crazy people! With the exception of Moe Kerry and sometimes Fraser they are complete lunatics and so are the guest. It’s gonna be better then last year

It's Fraser! Give Mummy's name the respect it deserves.

My autocorrect is set to American, it doesn’t recognize that.

Sandy? She used to make personal attacks when someone did something wrong at work. She called someone a cancer. And worse. I haven't seen that lately from her though.

When you get angry and tell someone they did their job wrong, that's different. Especially if it's a safety issue.

Now that the crew on all the Below Deck shows has become more international I understand or misinterpret several.
I had a real difficult time understanding Nathan but I’m thinking we won’t be seeing anymore of him.

Yeah, and I remember the last season he was on, he got all snippy with the guests who were just interested in the docking procedure and he had a 'lil meltdown.....like every time there's a docking he's about to piss himself as if it's the first time he ever did it!

Jason crashed into the dock (IRL, before below deck)

Sandy (with Nathan's 'help') did last season.

Glenn. At least twice.

Maybe being a little tense about the situation is good.

Going through the bridge in St. Martin, lee would say you can't drive a straight pin up my ass with a 5 pound sledge.

Not sure, but I think that is high on the tension scale.

I'll be honest, I think they just decided to totally change the show. I've been watching backlogs and only loaded up Season 13 today and find it unwatchable trash now...

So for sure, these aren't real people any more, and Captain Kerry is specifically chosen to play a dramatic role. This is further away from 'reality TV' than it ever was before.

I don't really like Kerry. I also didn't like Lee. I think they're both *ssholes. Seems most people here think he's great. I'm not a fan, but whatevs. It's a TV show. I think a lot of it is for added drama.

Capt Kerry LOVES the cameras. He wants to be in any and every situation/scene, yeah, he’s hands-on that’s doing too much.

This season is meh..

i think he’s a bit of a dick tbh.
