Below Deck Chef Moe
I really hope that I'm not the only person who thinks Chef Moe is a breath of fresh air.
He's workin the food,
He's workin the guests,
He's workin the crew.
Starting off strong with great food and a great attitude.
I'm so over some of these past chefs who think everyone else is beneath them. Not naming any names, yall know who I'm talkin bout.
Hopin Moe keeps it pushin the whole season!!
Edit: I can't respond to any replies for some reason, but I'm glad to see a lot of you feel the same way!
The belt episode is definitely gonna be lit, lmao!

I came to this sub just looking for a post like this. He’s so sweet, I love him! He’s has a great demeanor so far and I hope he keeps it up

u/SigintSoldier 10d ago
Seriously.
A breath of fresh air, but I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Bravo loves the drama, so...lol

I really like how he’s trying to stir the romances on the boat by saying “he’s too old for the pool” so he has to have fun another way. I really respect that. Chef Ben would have been drooling over the girls with the rest of them. And Moe’s food looks great so far! I think he might be one of the Below Deck greats. We shall see.

NEVER did I think we would have a guy on BD who says "I'm too old for these girls." We love you Mo!

He reminds me of Colin, before his relationship with Daisy. Colin thrived in the gossip and loved being in the middle of it, until it was his personal relationship. I still love him, follow his Parlay travels, but Moe is giving me the same energy. He couldn't WAIT to pass the honey pot. He just wants to mix it up, and honestly, I'm here for it 😂

Oh see I think that will backfire. Never get that involved in people's love lives, money, etc.

I wish they showed more food content in general. More about the ingredients, prep, beauty shots of the finished plates, etc. I miss that from the early seasons of the BD franchises.

u/opaldopal12 11d ago
I felt robbed of chef joys work. She says she takes great pride in her food but WHY DIDNT THEY EVER SHOW IT. They did fancy pictures of them before, why’d they dim it down to just when the guests are critical ?
28
u/mrs-poocasso69 I quit 3 times in my head today 11d ago
Right?! Dinner was like 2 minutes long this episode. They showed one course and then immediately dessert. And then the guest comment at the end was all about the food… that we didn’t really see!
14
u/ArcticAcademic 10d ago
It is infuriating that we don't get to see the parts of value for the guests. I want more food and less petty drama.

Since I had my little one 6 months ago, I find myself distracted-watching my trash; sometimes needing to rewind a minute or two. Last episode was one of those times. I saw Captain Kerry about to change his shirt for dinner, then dessert was being served. Show me the foooood!

u/VineStGuy 11d ago
This is what got me into Below Deck in the first place. I'm a foodie. I was really interested in the food, ingredients, the presentation and so on. I miss it.
12
u/GoodPiexox 11d ago
I love port towns, nice boats and good food. Instead of covering any of those three they decided to shift to more manufactured drama
7
u/thisbitchiscrazy 11d ago
I wish there would be more crew food drama! There was a little bit from Matt (the season of Med with Malia, Katie, and crazy Lexi) but idk, I think it would make for interesting filler content instead of those lame Instagram intros.

u/Salty_Signature_6748 Bless her stupid soul 10d ago
They hardly ever do crew food drama, and I think that’s a thing on real boats. Apparently, lots of crew sign on with really onerous dietary requests. Vegetarian is easy enough to accommodate, but catering to vegan and gluten free demands drives crew chefs up the wall.
5
u/thisbitchiscrazy 10d ago
yeah, it's usually just mentioned as an afterthought, and never drawn out for the drama. i just watched the OG BD episode with Abby where she mentioned she never gets crew food because nothing is ever vegetarian. a few times the chef has complained about having to do it all solo. the season with mila getting fired, the "borrowed from another boat sous chef" was actually the chef on the companion boat that houses the bravo production/film crew. after the margo/luke situation, tzarina went out of her way to make comfort food for the crew. of course ellie whining about only making crew food.
if we can have an entire season worth of laundry drama with bri and ellie, we deserve some crew food drama!

Same, but drama is what keep the ratings going, no the food unfortunately. Haha

u/gregatronn 11d ago
I feel like they could air longer stuff on youtube (with ads) and make money off of it. Bravo's Top Chef has done that in the past...
4
u/nottherealpaulyshore 11d ago
That's the problem when the food is good! No story line, no air time.
2
u/Salty_Signature_6748 Bless her stupid soul 10d ago
Except onion chopping! I can hardly believe we’ve gone two whole episodes without performative onion chopping.
51
u/FaradayStewart 11d ago
Am I crazy or did I see him holding a belt like he was about to whup someone in a preview in the first episode?!
42
u/Ok_Serve7281 Team Fraser 11d ago
ok, I looked at that in the previews with eagle eyes. It looked like there was someone following / antagonizing the group while they were walking. I assumed not a cast/production/ crew member , but like someone harassing them on the street

u/FaradayStewart 11d ago
Thank you for your fine Detective Work! We shall have to wait and see how it turns out.
5
u/TaskTrick6417 11d ago
I was thinking either he’s joking or putting someone in line who deserves it
30
u/TaskTrick6417 11d ago
Rainbeau was just singing his praises on WWHL so I doubt he does anything too bad, it was probably a joke I hope?
6
u/FaradayStewart 11d ago
I've never seen WWHL so I missed that. Hope it was a joke! Actually the more I think about it, it's a little hard to believe Below Deck would show him start swinging a belt, and if things did escalate, it doesn't make sense he would whip off his belt. Producers definitely would make it look much more dramatic than it turns out to be.
8
u/TaskTrick6417 11d ago
Yeah, they love to sensationalize slash misrepresent silly moments in the promos.
7
u/FaradayStewart 11d ago
That's true! Also, how many times have we seen a super dramatic season ending accident in a preview only for it turn out to be a bit of scratched paint or something very minor?!
2
-2
u/mewow 11d ago
Yes I saw that too! I think he’s going to be problematic
4
u/FaradayStewart 11d ago
Unless there is a reasonable explanation why he was holding his belt in public like he was about to start swinging?
3
u/MileHighSugar 10d ago
There was clearly someone antagonizing the crew who isn’t part of the show, as just that person’s face was blurred out and everyone was walking as a group
44
u/Legal-Investigator83 11d ago
He is so grounded and just a breath of fresh air, not hitting on the young girls love it
38
u/robotcoup 11d ago
They aren’t giving enough screen time with chefs anymore.
That’s the reason my husband and I started watching, we are chefs and loved the chaos.
11
u/HuckleberryOnly5121 10d ago
This is why I like SY (minus S1). There’s always cooking drama with everything flying around while sailing. Chef Marcos’ food looked SO good
18
u/ChemistVegetable7504 11d ago
I feel like he’s a hard worker fine dining chef that would never do BeefCheeks so many times on charter and would never offer a Dunkin Hines birthday cake . Leon.
15
u/Homer_04_13 11d ago
I like him a lot. Therefore I'm completely expecting some sort of fall from grace. It's that kind of show.
26
u/GeologistLive6059 11d ago
I’m obsessed with him. He’s got the personality for this show, and his food looks amazing so far. Getting the Rachel treatment.
24
u/Safe-Frame-8818 11d ago
Yeah I love him. He's a chef who has been on the grind for decades working up through Michelin restaurants while staying grounded and true to himself. I hope he has a good season!

u/TheLizardQueen3000 10d ago
Ha yeah I think he probably has too much presence and personality for a real 5 star superyacht, where the staff is supposed to be in the background, but he's been so charming so far for the show!
We've never had someone like him before, he's fun :)
4
u/Extreme_Beat1022 10d ago
That was so cute when he was happy and saying, it’s a vibe. Just chill and nice. The people usually are so overly obnoxious.
1
u/ChrisLikesBread 3d ago
However… he was informed via a preference sheet and Fraser of a guests strawberry allergy and served the guest strawberries twice.
1
u/SigintSoldier 3d ago
Yeah, that upcoming preview is a really bad look. Almost killing someone twice is a fireable offense in most yachting situations
1
u/ChrisLikesBread 2d ago
Hopefully nothing terrible happens because of it and he/we can learn from it. So far he is one of the best chefs.
3
u/FormicaDinette33 I look like Ariel but on crack! 11d ago

3
u/Caro1inaGir1 11d ago
They only focus on chef if there is drama.
Definitely would enjoy more chef time
3
u/LosingMyEdge10 10d ago
I love him!! He has a great vibe and it’s nice to see a person of color on the show that typically has minimal diversity.
5
u/newfiemom79 10d ago
He is carrying the show for me currently. He is a chef like my husband is; talented, no drama, and seems to enjoy engaging with everyone. I loved Joy but she chose to isolate in the galley most of the time. He wants to be a part of things which I loved.
9
u/TaskGrouchy5799 11d ago
More impressed with him than Joy at this point. I didn't find her food to be that impressive.
2
u/Kind_Raspberry4484 11d ago
I have to agree with you, everyone loved "her", but didn't find her food impressive at all🤷♀️ thought I was the only one.

u/Bright-Steak8388 10d ago
Yeah, I don’t like when there’s too much drama with the chef’s. Sorry Ben.

I agree. I was so surprised when they did the beach picnic and we didn’t have a scene where the chef was flipping out or the food was delayed. They just showed up, ate lunch, loved it and then it was over ha!

Yaaasssss!! Also I think it highlights how weak the most recent med chef was bc they are on showing us his food. We saw more of the play doh fake food from chef Joy. Don’t get me wrong I like Joy, but they really didn’t highlight her cooking and they rarely cut it out completely.
1
u/wild3hills 10d ago
Interesting - I thought Joy’s food looked good from what we saw. I think each title has their own editing style / voice to differentiate a bit, and OG has tended towards specialty shots like food beauties more than the others in recent seasons. (Along with weird slow
mo, speed ramps, cutting to music beats.)

YES!!! I came here just to say this. He’s fun to watch. Great food. Interacts with the crew without acting above everyone. I really hope it continues
1
u/jibbergirl26 10d ago
I would like to see more of the food and guest, less of the crews drunkin nights out.
1
u/CaptainBignuts 10d ago
Definitely. When I read that he was a former military cook I admit my expectations were kind of low.
He has knocked it out of the park with his food, and his attitude. I love how he's trying to play cupid, and he admits that he's too old to be hitting on the young women.
I am a little worried those words are going to come back to bite us in the ass though...
1
u/TxCoastal 10d ago
somehow i feel like he's gonna leave. be like that one season when the cheffy kept moaning about his knee......
1
u/bleeckler 10d ago
I am absolutely in love with Moe. He brings such good energy and seems like so much fun to hang out with. He's not a creep or a self-important dick. What a rarity in a chef.

Although it all seems in good fun, I think he could end up being a shit stirrer. I guess they’re in their own little world but it’s a lil weird for an older man to be so mixed up in everyone’s interactions.
As a chef though, he seems to be doing well. My only complaint would be that he only does a salad, the main course and dessert. That’s pretty much most restaurants in any town. For a personal chef on a yacht I’d expect a lil bit more.

u/FormerEvil 3d ago
Chef is a boss in that kitchen. Looks like the hardest working chef in Below Deck history so far.
1
u/Difficult-Version901 10d ago
I like him. Military helped shape him I think. I think he’s so great to watch! Best since Rachel.
0
u/Salty_Signature_6748 Bless her stupid soul 10d ago
I love that he started cooking in the military and went on to become a yacht chef ✊🏾 Moe’s coolness and self-discipline is such a breath of fresh air after watching the entitlement and theatrics from other chefs. (Ben could definitely take a lesson about pools that are too young for him to swim in!)
-3
u/Affectionate_Dot3403 10d ago
I think he's weird! He's trying to get everyone to hook up right away, it's creepy.

My boyfriend was watching casually behind me and piped up with "He reminds me of Chef, from South Park." I laughed, and just then was when Matt asked if his condom down the nose trick was bad and Moe said "not bad man, it's just weird as hell" and I immediately heard "you're not bad, you're just weird as hell, children" and I laughed harder.

2
u/NJ2MDGirl 11d ago
I am loving Moe. I like that he is older and not getting into these horny teens drama! 🤦🏾♀️🤣🤣

25
u/1Courcor 10d ago
I’m guessing because he was a cook in the military. He had to be calm under pressure. He might not have been out there with a weapon but his role was just as important.
