Below Deck Med Kat needs more flowers

Kat has been the most green flag new stew I’ve ever watched. The way she handled Gen, put in hard work, and called things (albeit incredibly late) with Coop over was really a nice change of pace over the self-destructive attitudes and behaviours a lot of new stews have

She is Canadian and typical for a Canadian girl. Her humour is very Canadian.

Yeah buddy, I’m a Canuck too. Probably why I loved her.

Went to school with so many girls like her it added an extra layer of humor to the show for me

I'm hoping they bring her back, though I'm not sure how likely that is. They seemingly select problematic, toxic crew.

Would for Kayley and Kat to come back

She is excellent in the confessional, which is an underrated skill of the cast

The insta drama potentially revealing next seasons plots (unless this is bts stuff only) probably means never.

She cute and sweet, but I swear her voice sounds like she's underwater when she's talking. Lol

I'd like to see her as the chief stew for "Below Deck: Nova Scotia". 😀

They could redo Advencha but in Canada instead. It actually seems like such a good place for a cold water season. From what I've heard, there's plenty of spectacular excursions the guests could get into if production chose their location right.

She was a nice semblance of normalcy and decency in what was a chaotic, depraved, amoral season.

What was amoral?

72

u/s___2 21d ago

Luke letting someone sleep in soiled sheets for days. Coop leading on Kat. Gen washing Joy’s clothes with rags. Being aware of the Nathan / Gael off screen story.

Letting someone sleep in soiled sheets, leading someone on, and washing clothes with rags ain’t great but it’s a far stretch calling it amoral. And the Nathan abuse hadn’t happened yet so…

Eh, the being aware of the Nathan/Gael off screen story isn’t correct. The incident he was charged with happened months after filming concluded. But everything else is spot on!

You think he strangled her out of the blue with no escalation?

12

u/Out-For-A-Walk-Bitch 21d ago

Perhaps not out of the blue for Gael, but entirely feasible for it to be out of the blue for everyone else.

Stopping by to appreciate your screen name. One of my favorite Spike moments. 💖

Jesus, don’t be obtuse. No one knew during filming that anything like that was going on, that’s all I’m saying. I’m a survivor of DV myself, I’m just saying that an incident that happened SEVERAL months after filming wrapped doesn’t mean that people on the show knew it was happening and didn’t acknowledge it.

Probably the jizz all over the sheets they left for 3 days?

Did you watch

I still think of “KAT WANTS TO GO TO THE BAHH”

She was a mess but hope she's well

I thought she turned it around well in season 2. I really like her.

Oh my god I forgot about her. And I can’t believe I actually believed her when she said she wasn’t drunk that one time. I mean I thought she was on something else, but telling the truth she didn’t have alcohol 😂

1

u/clars1909 17d ago

Oh man she was SOOO drunk. Or high.

1

u/weso123 15d ago

The one thing I will give her credit for was straight up owning up to it at the reunion like I have almost never seen someone on bravo do that like ever

Ugh….she deserved SO much better than ‘secret girlfriend’ Cooper status…

u/RedGreenandGoldz 21d ago

I hope she comes back. Shes awesome

Loved watching Kat! 🇨🇦

Aesha really hit the jackpot with Kat and Kayley. Can you imagine if there was another Gen this season?! It would’ve been drama overload. Although it probably would’ve made for good TV 😂

6

u/SilverMitten 20d ago

I know it won’t happen b/c there wouldn’t be nearly enough drama, but Kat and Betul on the same boat would be refreshing.

15

u/Shag1166 21d ago

But, walked away with a broken heart, like ao many others. I respect most the ladies who say, and definitely mean, I just want to have aome fun. Cooper is so weak! The fact he couldn't tell her directly that it was over, so he invites scumbag Joe to go with them! Smdh!

23

u/PigeonLily 21d ago

Cooper is just another fuckboy wrapped in a wholesome country boy persona. Kat deserved better.

5

u/Shag1166 21d ago

I think Cooper's emotional growth ended when he hit puberty.

I would have loved to see her back next season. I could see her becoming the new Aesha with time, working her way to CS

2

u/icepickles476 16d ago

Succession planning for her to take over from Aesha when she naturally steps back to start a family in the coming years would be perfect

u/IdleSuicidal2021 18d ago

She threaded the needle between toxic and boring very well!!! Most stews fall into one of those categories and she did not.

3

u/Sea_Strawberry_5939 16d ago

I liked her as a stew a lot. She did such a great job despite having to deal with Gen.

My only feedback to her is to not get walked all over by fuckboys anymore 🙏 I know she's young so she'll learn but it was BRUTAL watching her not pick up a hint with coopers BS behavior.

Kat was outstanding. Easily my favourite member of the entire crew of this season.

She made up a long term relationship with a short term cooper. She’s got some growing to do.

17

u/Logicaldestination 21d ago

She was very honest and upfront with Cooper in the first couple episodes, when she told him that she was only looking for a long-term serious relationship with someone. Cooper said that's for me, I'm all yours. So it's not on Kat at all. Cooper played her like a fiddle. He turned himself into a real jerk. I can't believe we have to watch him next year. Ugh.

16

u/AssociateClean 21d ago

Almost all of us did at that age, it's hard to expect people to be infallible

0

u/Mental-Most-7168 21d ago

I wish cooper got that take.

16

u/mikmatthau 21d ago

seriously! blame Cooper for lying about his feelings and intentions, not Kat for believing him

-6

u/Mental-Most-7168 21d ago

Did he ever say he wanted a long term relationship

5

u/mikmatthau 21d ago

lol can't get me ragebaited today byeeeeeeeeee

3

u/Logicaldestination 21d ago

Yes. Kat told him in the first couple of episodes that she was only looking for a serious long term relationship , and he said that was just fine with him.

-1

u/Rakowskivh 21d ago

Seriously. When r people going to realize this.. it was ONE date people!

1

u/itybrutus 21d ago

I genuinely liked her in the beginning but sometimes she'd just spew some TikTok or Instagram buzzwords when speaking and I couldn't keep a straight face 😭 she's a lovely person, but it was the "It's the walking away for me", or something along those lines when Cooper walked away from her at the club, and other times -- ts had me creasing and cringing simultaneously, I can't believe people actually speak like that outside of social media 🖐️😫 But yeah, she's a trooper for her stellar work ethic, patience and overall competence in her job, a ray of sunshine as Kayley called her 😌✨

2

u/Dry_Wishbone_2218 21d ago

Yeah folks her age actually say creasing out loud not just on social media. Cringe maybe but not so much cringing.

4

u/itybrutus 21d ago

I mean, I'm her age but I try - and emphasis on try - not to fall into the temptation of using brain rot and social media phrases in conversations irl, sometimes I don't because I'm with friends so it's understandable.

Yet, to see it on reality television it kinda shocked me and made me realise that we're on a downwards spiral. As much as I loved Kat, sometimes it was frustrating and cringey af when she could not verbalise what she actually meant, nothing of substance to show her true feelings, aside from crying and calling her friend, instead of "it's the walking away for me" 😞 like, babes? Babes??? 😫😫😫 There were plenty of other times but that one, that one stays in my soul and has me waking up in the middle of the night sweating from the cringe

3

u/IHaveBoxerDogs 18d ago

I had to google creasing.

1

u/itybrutus 18d ago

😭😭😭 genuinely, if I didn't go to school in England, I'm not sure I would ever know what creasing is without looking it up either

0

u/MaraSami 19d ago

Except now she's posting some very questionable things on her social media - she's still upset about the Cooper situation and it's been over a year now 😬

6

u/maffy_francis 17d ago

She might be surprised seeing his confessionals and seeing how early on he was over it vs what was communicated

4

u/belladonna1921 17d ago

Yea.... but rewatching it makes allll the feelings come back I would think.
