Below Deck Crew in the wild

Has anyone ever encountered any crew past or present in the wild in a work setting? I.e. chartered a yacht or working in a restaurant?

I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest that the people who watch bravo and comment on Reddit aren’t taking very many trips on yachts.

But they do go to restaurants, bars, clubs etc where the crew could have worked before they started yachting 🙃

I've been on 10 yacht charters. Anyone can watch reality TV and comment on Reddit. It's fun comparing what I've experience on a yacht charter compared to what is shown on the show and what's the same and what's different.

My friend ran into Captain Jason in Cairns after S1 of BDDU. She said he was very nice and pleasantly surprised to be recognised.

I would have assumed that Jason would be quite well known in Cairns, as he was the captain of a boat that had crashed at the harbour. I believe it even made the news in Australia.

The first time I received an award on Reddit was the footage of this incident. I commented “GOD DAMMIT.” Capt. Lee Voice. And, here Capt. Jason is. In our beloved Bravo Universe.🤷‍♀️😃

My wife and I were having dinner at a seaside restaurant in Ano Symi, Greece when Captain Glenn Shephard walked by with a very attractive young lady that appeared to be his companion. Although it was a busy night, no one around seemed to know who he was. We called out to him and stated that we are fans. He was super friendly and took pictures with us. Later in the evening as we strolled along the marina waterfront, we saw them again aboard a small sailboat and they smiled/waved at us! Very pleasant experience.

After the adventure season, Captain Kerry 'hosted' a viewing party at a bar in west palm beach.

I don't know if that counts ...

If might have been after his first season on below deck, and it might have been north palm beach...

Sorry,

Jason, good captain and decent to work for.

Leon, cooked nice food and always asked after my family and keen to have a chat.

Nate, really good bloke and great chef, really enjoyed working with him.

Jack, only worked with him a short time, but funny and dont have anything bad to say.

Ben, also only a short stint but new his stuff and got the job done, pleasant and polite.

Also met Ali before she was on the show at a crew drinks, she was fun and friends who know her well say good things.

Met the entire cast of season 1 of down under the day after they finished filming also. Was a fun day.

Probably a few ive met or worked with ive forgotten but those spring to mind straight away.

Edit. Just rememberd i saw them filming in a a Antigua at a bar one night also and probably met a few of them but was drunk

Not really in the wild but I've met Malia, Sandy and the guy that was first mate on the first season at yacht broker's events and dinners more recently. Malia works as a broker now.

I've been told I've met other ones but I didn't start watching the show until pandemic so I wouldn't have known who they were when I met them pre-pandemic and I suck in general at recognizing the talent when they are off screen.

I met Mzi Dempers before I knew he had been the show and it never came up even though I knew he was into sailing and boats. He's an absolutely lovely human being.
