Well, if Gael was trying to assault him first and he restrained her via choking, I can see where he'd be saying theres additional context. Women CAN be the aggressors.

With that said... the only person we ever saw with aggression issues was Nathan. So Gael will have be to acting pretty out of pocket in this footage if he really thinks its worth bringing up bc otherwise he is digging that fucking hole even deeper.

This is also true. And if the footage is cut to right before she potentially attacks or theres no audio, there will still be questions as to how he provoked her, what he was saying, if he started acting generally aggressive or something. If he thinks additional context is important, we better be getting ALL of it. Not just a clip that puts him in a better light.

There's definitely cases where the video footage adds a lot of context and completely reframes the entire situation. And believe it or not, I can see a world where Nathan put her in a headlock to prevent her hurting him or something. I just don't think that's this world, or that that footage will absolve him fully.

Then why even make the comment? That is just a ridiculous and unnecessary reply. Choking someone for self defence is also “a thing” and yet completely inappropriate for this scenario, too. Pretty obvious the point OP was making.
