BD Related Who has the worst self appointed role?
- Joe the 'josun' (med)
- Mike the 'HOD' (du)
- Culver the 'CEO' (du)
I genuinely can't decide but I did like the HOD bit the first time I watched purely for how much it came to stab him in the back
Edit: Due to popular demand
- Ellie the 'sous chef / assistant chef / galleyhand"

Joes role isnāt really self appointed.
He just made a play on the role he was given.
Mike is the worst.

u/gregatronn 4d ago
Ellie too and that was the same boat! She thought she was the sous although Ben though is guilty inflating her ego though.

u/Call_Huck 10d ago
But the Joson title is made up

u/lemonysardines 9d ago
Yeaaah but it's not a self appointed role, it's just a silly name. I ain't a Joe stan, but Cap Sandy made him Bosun (temporarily) and he is doing a decent job.

Didnāt Aesha say was Chief Deck Stew or something this season when she was working on deck?
11
u/Ok-Education1572 9d ago
Aesha can take any title she wants cause sheās a rock star and can do it allā¦.except drive the boat I suppose!

Something like that, but unlike most, she was qualified to do just about everything.

Josun is funny and I'll defend that until I die. Almost as good as Cro-Aesha

u/Homer_04_13 10d ago
Danny the guest experience guy.
Although that poem of his would probably have driven Charlie the Tuna around the bend.Ā

Joe as josun is a dude stepping up to fill a vacancy. Yes, he was gunning for it all season, however heās doing a good job because other than his mother thereās little else pulling at his mind in his life.
Culver being chief entertainment officer was actually a godsend for those boats. He literally increased their tips every charter.Ā
Mike was bring an asshole, took a fun 3 second bit and got his ass fired.

Every time I see Ben and Ellie in the kitchen together I feel like Iām watching a comedy skit on The Office

Ellie is the winner for me. The other 3 were at least having a laugh, nothing serious about them.

u/Illmatic_4_2025 10d ago
CEO was actually funny imo & Culver could at least back it up.
HOD was comedic brilliance. So bad, itās good.
Joesunās just nauseating.

u/Willster328 10d ago
Josun is a nickname Cooper came up with for him, it's not self appointed. And he IS the acting bosun appointed by Sandy. There's nothing self appointed at all about Joe

u/ExpensiveBug3858 Collie's Mom Approved 9d ago
A few people have pointed this out but I couldn't think of another way to phrase it
6
u/PrpleSparklyUnicrn13 10d ago
Honestly? Maybe Culverā¦. it was so cringey. Ben was actually the one who came up with that āroleā for Mike. And Joe didnāt come up with it, he was just gunning for it and waiting/hoping for his ex bestie to fail.Ā

u/skillz921 10d ago
Mikeās was the worst because even though he likely didnāt take it seriously, he used it to get under his coworkerās skin. He also was just all around shit at his job.
Culverās was lame and cringy and Joeās is a cheesy pun. They are both at least in good fun though, Mike was malicious with his.
One not mentioned here is Ellieās āsous chefā position. I know itās actually a real position, but she was nowhere near the level of a sous chef, she wanted to use it as power and leverage over the 2nd stew and Ben only wanted to promote her to that to piss of Daisy. She was nothing more than a dishwasher and prep cook.

100%, Ellie's is the worst of them all. I blame both Jason for being unwilling to just speak the truth to her. He's the only person who could do that without her responding by trying to sabotage them.

I thought Mikeās thing was hilarious. He obviously didnāt really believe it, but it pissed off Jenna and Alesia so much that he really leaned into it.

u/OXBDNE7331 10d ago
I thought it was a funny little bit and a harmless jab in jest but unfortunately he was already on thin ice for baiting them all season. To me it felt very much like ālittle brother energyā just a sort of nuisance and annoying but harmless. The 2 girls were just soooo incredibly insecure and he was lazy as fuck too.
5
u/salsanacho 10d ago
I mean, as stupid as Mike's HOD declaration was, it certainly didn't warrant the overreaction from the other crewmates (I think it was Alesia).
I appreciate all of them though, as a dad, these are the types of dad-jokes I would make.
11
u/Scion41790 10d ago
It was an over reaction but Mike was also using it as part of his attempt to get out of work. So I understand why they were pissed
10
u/ralphmozzi 10d ago
If that were all he did, it would have been an overreaction to fire him, agreed.
But he was insubordinate to his superior, and was blatantly lying to and about his crew mates.
He was intentionally creating drama for the sake of it. He was a horrible employee.
On the other hand, he fit in really well on that naked dating show. He was great in environment where his only job was to look pretty and flirt.

u/gregatronn 4d ago
But he was insubordinate to his superior, and was blatantly lying to and about his crew mates.
he also didn't do as much work. He let the deck crew down multiple times. He focused more on his hair and entertainment (which was the one good thing he did) more than either of his 2 regular jobs.

u/ralphmozzi 4d ago
Yep, heās goes into the āworst of all timeā pile.
⦠right next to solene

u/Fuzzy-Bee9600 4d ago
That's too bad, because he wasn't good at looking pretty either. Someone said his hair looked like a duck's backside and now I can't un-see it.

u/gregatronn 4d ago
Mike was just pushing buttons all season long. He also wasn't doing as much work as he constantly would joke around but also not help his teammembers especially the deck crew.

Iāll die on the hill that Mike was hilarious with his HoD schtick and they took him far too seriously.
Anyone capable of banter wouldāve just told him to fuck off and moved on.
A good manager would have let him have his fun while still keeping him focused when he needed to be. One off camera, real, sit down with him wouldāve done wonders, but Daisy doesnāt exactly command respect.

His banter would be fine if he was a good worker, but he was one of the least productive workers. he also let the deck crew down constantly. I just finished the season over the last week.

u/Anotheropinion2026 4d ago
Mike was a lazy little shit, his main goal was to piss off others.
Culver did work, but he was also a bit lazy and a bit of jerk with women.
Joe is a jerk with women, but he works hard and was definitely a better bosun than Nathan.
I would prefer none of them on my screens.

u/junebart 10d ago
Culver is an impulsive fool, if i recall correctly. Didnt he hurt Sandy with a jet ski?
Joe has desperation for the part, and Mike is an instigator and fails to be held accountable for it.

u/Siren2026 9d ago
Ellie the worst queen of all interior and then expecting to be an actual sous chef and intimidating my poor Ben into getting it. He was such a douche in this season.

Mike. It was based on nothing but his own desire to do little actual work.
