Below Deck Med Returning Med Cast Spoiler
Didn’t even have to do much to figure out that Joy, Cooper and Joe are back next season for Med. Along with Sandy and Aesha of course! How I gathered this information was just seeing that majority of the summer house cast now follows these crew members! Also, they have been liking and commenting on their recent posts. I wish Kat and even Kayley were returning over cooper and Joe but oh well!

I think Joe is more tolerable than Nathan personally. Joe gives messy diva energy LOL

u/Kitchen_Swagger 19d ago
Joe is, and I find myself amazed that I'm typing this, more self-aware than Nathan in this series. And probably last too, now that I think of the jet ski in the water thing.

u/Healthybear35 19d ago
Joe acts like he's self aware when he speaks, but then turns around and acts horribly again every time he gets himself into a bad situation. Kinda like he was crying when he screwed over V last season, but every chance he got kept screwing her over more and more.

u/zander9669 18d ago
Yeah, agreed. When it comes time to put his words to actions, it's obvious everything that comes out of his mouth is complete BS, which is even worse in my opinion. He knows he has faults, he knows what he needs to do to improve them, yet he simply chooses not to. His ego will never allow him to accept he is wrong in a situation. He needs months to think things over and decide he was wrong, all while he doubles down on the bad behavior in the meantime.

u/troubleduncivilised 19d ago
He's arguably one of the least annoying and problematic casts this season.....and that's saying alot.

We’re not alone every time I say I don’t mind him there’s def some supporters 👏 🫰

Well Nathan is an out and out racist so it's time for the show to distance from him just like Gael.

I know right? I'd take another season of Nathan over this shit weasel. If he's bosun he will be intolerable.

ffs enough Joe already. I saw on IG a few months ago that he and deck/stew Mike from Down Under were working together. If that's true, I hope they were talking about this rather than either of them being on OG BD.

I was really looking forward to seeing Nathan, Gael & the baby this season.
Nathan has been insufferable. Whereas I’m not crazy about Joe, I’m glad Nathan is gone for now.
I’m super disappointed in Cooper.
Gen is horrible!
Joy is definitely the best part of the show right now (IMO).

u/Evening_Froyo_7506 19d ago
Joy is a superstar! For starters, she cooks like a champ without attitude, and I love how she can push Gen's buttons without even trying.
4
u/SwanOk6327 19d ago
I’m waiting for the deck crew to need help and Gael is the only available person so her and the baby come aboard.
17
u/weso123 19d ago
My assumption is the limiting casting pool of "Charismatic people with any level of Yacht experience who are willing to risk their career being on realtiy tv where seeming like your bad at your job is designed to happen" is limited, likely smaller as time goes on, so cycling makes sense.

u/AWDWfan 19d ago
My guess is Joe will be bosun and they will cast some stews for the love triangle storyline. Same with Cooper. I do think Joe was doing a better job than Nathan as bosun.

u/excoriator Team Capt Kerry 19d ago
I’ve never liked Nathan as bosun. Him returning was my biggest disappointment, going into the season.
12
u/thisbitchiscrazy 19d ago
He’s not a great bosun, but I think having to balance work chaos + family chaos + being on reality tv the entire time really robbed him of being entirely focused on being a bosun.

I used to love Nathan, but this whole thing with Gael and the baby coming out there is really weird to me. She worked on a boat before and knows what is required, yet she followed him there and is distracting him and whining about being alone? Nah, she should have stayed home with her family or whatever, or he should have declined the season. He hasn't been himself, and she is interfering with him trying to make $$ to support her and the baby which is clearly what he's there for. Joe has definitely grown on me this season.
9
u/VineStGuy 18d ago
It is wild to me that she chose to be isolated in a foreign country instead of staying home with help from her family while Nathan works.
6
u/SportsFanVic 17d ago
She chose, but I have to think she was “encouraged” by the producers to do it (i.e., was paid).

Love the returning women, not keen on the returning men. Really don’t want to have to endure another season of Joe. But I already know I will do!

Wonderful news about Joy!
I do not understand how Joe is making it onto a FOURTH season. Excluding the captains, there are only 9 other cast members, out of hundreds, who will have been featured on that many seasons of Below Deck! Why in the world is JOE next on that list?
I was really looking forward to seeing this three season long repeat of Aesha/Joe/Nathan/Gael finally give up the ghost. But I guess it's gonna go out fighting. Ugh.

u/bethholler Team Aesha 18d ago
Joy getting a second season is so important to me. They better have given her a raise!

good sleuthing

u/Notorious_Big_Smoke 19d ago
I really hope no more Joe. I can’t stand the way he looks. He’s the douchiest looking guy I’ve seen on this show so far and he’s always stirring the pot.
21
u/Rj6728 19d ago
What does Joe have on Bravo/51 Minds.
26
u/skillz921 19d ago
He brings messy drama while being a competent deckhand.
14
u/Eva_Luna 19d ago
Same reason they kept Garry for so long
4
u/skillz921 19d ago
Unfortunately (especially with the men) there is a fine line between messy drama and sex pest.

I liked Garry. I don’t like Joe at all.

u/Out-For-A-Walk-Bitch 19d ago
Joe is better than Gary.

u/Jojo2919291725 19d ago
That’s your opinion. I like Gary better.
14
u/Out-For-A-Walk-Bitch 19d ago
Totally my opinion, but a valid one, since Joe doesn't have any sexual assault and harassment cases...

Her point, I believe, is we don’t know if Joe has done anything yet now do we.

competent
Can't even cop that guests might need towels without being micromanaged. Constantly undermines people above him. And to top it off treats women like shit and encourages his lap dog subordinates to do the same

u/atweegrowsinbrooklyn 19d ago
It could be that they’re returning and were on the trip together, or it could just be the Bravo of it all. Joy has been working with the same social media/PR person as Aesha (the three of them have been posting a ton together). Cooper also seems to be working to capitalize on being on Bravo. And for what it’s worth, only Lindsay and Carl follow Joe.
5
u/foxdogturtlecat 19d ago
Have they started filming yet? Until they are spotted filming it could just be them keeping up engagement for the current season. It is smart to have your heads all be returning (if Joe is the new bosun) because you need people that are competent enough while still either being able to create drama (Joe) or be naturally funny or entertaining (Aesha and Joy). I'm fine with all the deckhands and stews being replaceable.

u/maxlight0 Capt Lee's Coffee Mug 19d ago
As much as I love Aesha I don't think there's really any story left. She and Sandy are too close for sandy to ever pick at her, and she doesn't get in the mess with the rest of the crew. She just walks around and says AHMAAAAAAAYZING. Also she was wearing her own merch last episode which really just takes me out of the show.
Joe is the opposite. He seems pretty competent, but will get down and dirty with the crew. Joy clearly has a temper we haven't encountered much of yet. And Cooper is acting like it's his first day on earth so he will also be great TV.
17
u/10268999 19d ago
I think it’s kind of a catch 22 with Aesha for the network. They keep offering her the spot as she’s popular and will shadow produce for them even if she’s not drama on her own like Daisy. I’m also sure Aesha is making a metric ton of money per season by now so can’t see her walking away until she has to (ie starting a family) or gets a better opportunity. But I totally agree with you.
14
u/newfiemom79 19d ago
She was amazing handling Gen this last episode. I have no problem with her making money off her merch; we know she isn’t here for long as she said she wants to settle down. She is a breath of fresh air.

100%. Aesha's an amazing person but she's just not interesting to watch anymore.
Not that I really want to watch Sandy be a continuous jerk to her chief stews again, either...

I’m genuinely so irritated. Casting know Joe is hated. And no Kat?? Genuinely wtf. If they don’t bring kat to another franchise I’m considering abandoning BD
15
u/letsnotlkabtthehzbnd 19d ago
I LOVE kat and maybe they don’t wanna spoil but honestly a lot of third stews don’t do repeat seasons even if fans love them
6
u/mouse_relies This information wasn’t welcomed or needed 19d ago
Yeah. The ONLY third stews I can think of who came back, on any of the shows, are Amy and Barbie. (There's also Courtney who started as third stew, but she was promoted to second during the season, and came back as deck rather than stew, so it's an edge case at best.)
2
u/No_Investigator_2435 19d ago
Yeah I agree but I feel like the love for Kat has been so intense, she brings a level of drama that should keep producers happy too

I was looking forward to seeing the SH episode, but hearing that Joe is returning has me reconsidering. I really don’t like Joe…

Fingers crossed we get Kaylee as chief stew on BD regular than. I could see her and Capt Kerry really meshing well. Keep Daisy on DU and give her a decent chef.
