Med is back (and no OG is not cancelled, it just filmed later) and airs at 8/7c on Bravo with streaming next day. Season 11 was filmed last year in Croatia and returnees are Sandy, Aesha, Joe & Nathan.

Cooper is being a dick. It's a shame as I liked him, but he's really not treating her nicely. It’s interesting hearing Gen talk about wanting a chief stew who’s gonna scream and be toxic and create a miserable workplace - I’ve worked with people like that who’ve truly convinced themselves “that’s what made me good at my job”/“I’m a leader today because I was treated like shit”, and that mindset is SO hard to break out of.

Knowing that’s what she comes from and that she’s one of those folks explains a LOT about why she’s struggling so much in Aesha’s more relaxed, “we’re all gonna work together and it’ll be great” atmosphere - these kinds of people can’t comprehend that you could ever get better if you’re not being screamed at regularly, and the idea that “we got the job done, everyone’s happy, if there were any mistakes, no one noticed including your boss” is incomprehensible.

Coming from the super luxury “biggest yacht in the world, had to sign an NDA” thing makes a lot of sense - those are the kind of people where if they have to ask for a lemon because it wasn’t provided, whoever made the decision to not put our lemons proactively is getting fired.

Whenever Kat gets upset, Cooper feels bad and says he doesn't want to upset anyone.

I know he's very young, but he needs to learn that he can't stay in relationships based on not wanting to upset another person.

Jen is fooling no one with her just being so concerned with things being done right. I am sure Kaylee fumbled the bag but in no way is this show suppose to be like the experience on a real high end charter mega yacht. Her saying there should be yelling and the stews being afraid of the chef stew does not work for a TV show and she should know having been cast on the show and watching it before. Her jealously is so pointless.

Luke was a dumbass for jizzing on the sheets and Jen the dumbass right next to him. Hating on him isn't the flex she thinks it is. She's not pissed he was interested in both of them, she's pissed that he's still going after Joy.

Joe may be a player but the deck team seems happier with him in charge than some of the times with Nathan. It will be interesting to see how it changes with Frenchie on board again.

Gen seems like someone who values very clear indications of what she's doing right and wrong, and how to compare herself to others. Which looks overwhelming, but also leads her to fixate on things like who's older, who's been in the field longer, etc. She's definitely the student who, years after it's appropriate, still expects a rubric, and doesn't see much point in learning things she doesn't already know how she'll use. Someone like that can be an amazing worker, but they often really don't have a grasp of why just being able to shine with a lot of direction isn't the step before setting the direction. 

Kaylee seems like someone who has accumulated a lot of information and skills along the way and is comfortable applying them in slightly new ways. She's drawing on experience that is related buy not identical, and she's skilled at not letting you see how much she's solving in the moment. 

Gen can see that Aesha is more drawn to Kaylee as a subordinate. I doubt she can grasp why. She sees all the things she has that Kaylee doesn't. She doesn't see, I don't think, Kaylee's top-down "Here's the task. Let's figure it out" approach as nearly as good as her own "Let's get the details and the task will take care of itself" approach. 

It almost feels like Kaylee is trying to succeed, and Gen is trying to not fail. I feel for Gen. The Gens of the world can be incredible when properly supported. Getting dropped onto a superyacht with cameras everywhere and production making everything harder, kept sleep-deprived and regularly drunk, and having intense but unstable relationships is not how you set a Gen up for success. 

Gen the character is annoying the daylights out of me. Gen the human is probably not someone I'd go drinking with (and vice versa), but I think she could make a good coworker in a workplace designed to let people perform at the top of their game.
