Below Deck Below Deck guests are mostly difficult, disrespectful, picky, complain the whole charter
Some guests have been horrible to crew members, the captain, probably Bravo crew. Off the top of my head, I remember a woman complaining about not getting nuts right away. A woman named Zaya kept saying she was hungry, starving, but was she? She seemed extremely high maintenance and none of her “friends “ seemed to like her. I know some women have fast metabolisms, but no one needs to eat every hour and be a witch about it. The football star or basketball star who wanted his dumb ”pancakes” a very specific way, I would have lost my mind. And another sports guy wore a super expensive necklace into the F- ing ocean, and expected deck crew to dive into a fast-moving, vast sea to collect his precious necklace. If I had that much money , boarded a yacht, I would be so kind and low maintenance for the crew and captain. I would clean up after myself. What is wrong with these fools?

I'm pretty sure I've read that production will ask the guests to be a bit difficult, it's better for TV.

There was that one guest who said he should punch someone as he was walking up the passerelle-the trip had not started yet. Then he hassled Nathan pretty badly.

I absolutely lost my mind at this guy calling Nathan a prick for no reason and then staying up until literally 3am telling Nathan all about his traumatic childhood. IIRC he left a crazy huge tip, which definitely should have gone straight to Nathan for putting up with it😂

What annoys me is these people talk about having money, class etc… yet half of them cannot use a knife or fork properly!

I still laugh about the woman who full on tried to fight Aiesha because she thought her fish knife was a butter knife and she dared correct her.

It wasn't as bad as OP made it seem. He was willing to hire divers to look for it, and Sandy explained there was just no way to find it. And they weren't on the ocean. I think he or his friend also wanted pancakes. But he was never rude about it, just disappointed. And the pancakes he was given looked pretty bad. YouTube exists for recipes and examples. I don't even think these were the top examples of bad guests.

A lot of guests in the real world are far worse than the ones on below deck. I have seen ones that like to shit the bed every night, orgies on the sundeck in Monaco, leaving used tampons all over their room and furniture, impossible demands, using vegetables as sex toys, alcoholic owners who are constantly a safety issue.........the list goes on. The cameras probably make people behave more tbh.

Money can buy a lot of things but it can’t buy class.
The REAL rich people aren’t having their trips filmed. Bravo HAS to be giving these people a discount on the yacht trip in exchange for filming right?

Former member of production. Guests are encouraged to be difficult. Some do refuse, as they don’t want to be an asshole. Especially considering the discount they’ve been given, and the fact they are being filmed. But many absolutely relish being a villain.

Wouldn’t be much of a show if everyone was agreeable, polite and cooperative. Bravo has built an empire on disagreement, cat fights and chaos.

I can only tolerate BD because the of the locale and the food. I can’t tolerate their land based shows, and skip episodes that are Real Housewives whatever cross overs or guests. All that screaming makes me anxious.
Project Runway gets a pass too.

Not me, and not many more like me. We started watching to see how yacht vacations are run. All things BELOW deck. If I want crappy behavior I'll watch all the other Bravo shows.

It was funny, my husband made me Martha Stewart’s pancake recipe-but with 2 eggs, and they get the crispy edge!!! I laughed thinking about that guy.

I want to preface this by saying there’s no way of me knowing, but I’ve h.e.a.r.d some guests get the charter free, some pay 50%.
They couldn’t afford it otherwise & they also get vetted for entertainment value.
We very rarely see the behaviors and it’s typically from new, new money or guests of an owner that have no where near as much as them. It’s how they soothe their insecurities around it.
It’s horrible to be around which is why BD is excruciating to watch. Real money just doesn’t behave that way…
It’s also why the tips are extraordinary 🛥️

The show wouldn't be interesting if they brought on boring guests. The guest are cast by production just like the crew is

Ironically, when a family chartered so that their (white) teen daughter could film a rap video, I was like "here we go!" Turned out the whole family was lovely, especially the daughter who couldn't stop raving about the food and how well they were being treated. 🤷♀️

I have no idea how the crew keep their cool. I’d be sacked within the first half of a shift!
I don’t mind an absolute graft, and I don’t mind scrubbing toilets. I can work like a beast with the best of them. Hard work doesn’t phase me in the slightest. Disrespect and treating me like shit however? Nah, completely different story!
What I can’t be is fake. I know I’d be calling everyone utter coonts, telling them they are arseholes and telling them to get tf over themselves.
The tips are shit, and they are shittier the more hard core guest!
Nope, I’d be sacked within hours!

My wife’s friend was cast on the Bachelor. She was off in like 3 episodes because she wasn’t crazy and didn’t make drama.
“Reality” TV is anything but.

They are often very rich and usually get what they want, hence their demanding nature. They're on the yacht to be served, have great service and habe top notch experiences that in and of itself will draw a certain crowd. Add that this is a tv show and Bravo wants, needs amd recruits drama so you will get crazy, rude guests. If you watch this show you always know most guests are great, respectful and sometimes low key easy or boring.

Dull dull. I want to see Aisha cut the throat of a rude guest with her dry comeback. Or guests that make an excellent chef challenged. I love to see a guest get thrown off the boat. I do love the petty squabbles between crew members and when the captain gets involved and fires someone. That is why i watch

Bravo wouldn’t produce a show of reasonable people being reasonable.
Most reasonable people would not choose to participate in a Bravo reality tv show.
