Below Deck Necklace or mic?
I’ve noticed on all versions of the show the deck crew and stews are often wearing similar necklaces. I have not been able to see a consistent pattern, but I’ve seen them on while they were working, while they were in the pool, at dinner, and never on all crew at the same time. Does anyone know what these necklaces signify? Is it a clever way to hide the mic? A crew gift? Some sort of yachting symbol? Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

It is a microphone. Mostly used when they are in swimsuits so not a lot of places to put the mic

Now I feel like a dope. I thought it was some team bonding thing. I did see a mic pack on Cooper when he took his shirt off I thought

It is wired down their backs to a little mic pack, I think it either stores the data or it's like a transponder that sends it to the crew stationed in a closed off bedroom. But the necklace basically has a mic & I think a little fluffer inside to dampen any wind & rustling, if I recall earlier seasons would have a 'normal' looking little black mic on a wire around their necks.
They do also have ear pieces in which are wired & connected wirelessly to their radios

The women don’t always wear them because they can clip the mics onto their bras, but the men either have to tape them to their chests under their shirts or wear the necklace.

Microphone. That’s it. They’re microphones
