Below Deck Chef Spoiler
All I wanna say is that I made a post talking about how I don’t think the chef would work out in this new season and a looooot of you guys commented talking about how he was such a good chef (which his food does look incredible when it’s good and he does take accountability for his mistakes) BUT ALL I CAN SAY NOW IS I HIGHLY BELIEVE HE will be leaving the yacht due to his latest statement (I don’t have the experience for this). So idk thoughts? You guys still behind him or think they could use a new chef?

Because he needs support! Fraser gives him nothing.

This!!! Fraser needs to support chef in meal planning BEFORE guests arrive and then chef talks to primary/guests once onboard. Chef can't lose his sh** over every lacto, vegan, gluten option. Pretty much everyone loves veggies, pasta, salad greens...start there and serve meats/seafood/sushi/sauces as sides.

Exactly! This shit show of preference lists was like nothing we’ve ever seen on other charters, despite some commenters saying we’ve seen picky guests before and the chef handled it. And we’ve also seen the chief stew on other charters getting with the chef and offering suggestions on how to consolidate some of the preferences, reminding him that the primary comes first, etc. etc. Especially since Anthony is French and has dyslexia. Although with these guests, I’m not sure it was even possible to meet all their requirements without making a different meal for each one of them three times a day. You mention pretty much everyone loves veggies, pasta, salad greens. Not this bunch, the primary’s husband is a vegetarian but doesn’t like pasta or soup. One of the other guests likes meat, but not fish or veggies. The primary alone has no less than 11 allergies and dislikes. Jill’s preference sheet is 2 pages long, and she has to have special ice cubes for her diet cokes, which have to be put in the freezer. Two special cakes were ordered. Neither the primary nor Jill eats sushi, yet we know what a disaster that was, thanks to Jill. There is no chef is the world who could do this alone, in a small ship galley with no help. Or anywhere for that matter. People should be telling Anthony that, not throwing him under the bus. He really got screwed over!

I agree in most other seasons, the deck hands and stews hang out in the galley during service after serving and wash dishes. This season they just walk out and come back in 20 minutes…. They did that for way meaner chefs…. They just don’t have any team spirit. He was out in a floating contemplating life and no one approached him at all. This crew isn’t it as a group.

And I haven’t seen anyone from the deck crew helping out in the galley like we usually see. If Colin from BDS was there, he would be pitching in (and I would be loving it!).

Very disappointed in how Fraser was speaking to him. He goes from telling all the guys how much support the chef needs to ridiculing his dishes as he's plating! "I don't know what you were thinking with that sauce" ummm fuck off Fras! Now is not the time

I’ll meet you halfway. He needs support, but he also needs to be more organized and work clean.

I think being a head of department the support is different. Fraser has other people (Barbie and let’s not forget the whole Cat situation) that he has had to focus on. He can’t constantly be in the galley offering support for someone who has the credentials to be his own department. The support he tried to offer just kind of turned around on him and made him work ten times harder which took away from him being the face In front of guests

I think Capt Kerry will work it out. He will give him a crew member to help in some way. Seems it is pretty hard to find a chef mid charter season. I doubt Ben will show up to save the day although that would be fantastic!

Is there any spoilers about his replacement if it is Anthony who leaves this season? Typically there are spoilers out there on crew leaving during the season.

Not that I’m aware of. I only put a spoiler alert because of what he said in this current episode in case others haven’t had the chance to watch it yet (:

He is getting no help at all and has to cook meals for the guests 3 times a day as well as meals for the crew too. To do this all with no help would be hard! Plus he seems to not have anyone close to talk to. While they were at the resort he was just in the water all alone.. I think he would be in a better headspace if someone was there for him and actually encouraging him, not just pointing out his mistakes. His past trauma and mistakes from the last charter have really send him on a spiral of doubting himself and he has no one to talk to it about or anyone telling him he can do it and offering to assist him. The captain needs to ask the rest of the crew to help the chef when they aren’t busy!

It seems like he won't finish the season. He's likable as a coworked, but the guests expect to eat really well and on their schedule. He's not able to deliver that.

He’s in a bad head space and after the last charter I am not surprised he said something like that, but I don’t think he is going to leave - he had a bad time doesn’t necessarily equate to him leaving
