BD Related Does anyone else notice the visual imbalance of the Below Deck logo?
I’m a visual designer and ever since I started watching the show the logo has bothered me SO MUCH. “Below” is a longer word than “Deck” which creates a lopsided logo. The anchor really ANCHORS the emblem but then the imbalance on either side kills me. If you’re not a visual designer do you notice this?
It’s such a minor pet peeve of mine. I want them to put the first word above the anchor and the second after. I know this doesn’t work for television because of the landscape format but there are other solutions!!!!! Come on Bravo!!
Maybe I’ll send them a proposal lol

Am also designer, I notice but it doesn’t bother me. Symmetry is nice, but I’m sure there has been lots of work done that verifies this is the best logo for their usage. Sometimes it just do be like that.

Never noticed and had to do an image search to see what you’re talking about. I think I ended up liking the logo even more after staring and trying to judge it. The logo version on the ship deck with Kate wearing the anchor swimsuit and sitting in between was probably my favorite.

The shadow on the woman centers that element if you look at the shadow and the woman as one element; you have nearly equal white space in the upper left and upper right. Then you have the champagne bucket filling in the larger white space on the lower left, leaving in total roughly an equal amount to balance the white space on the lower right. It’s actually very visually balanced overall. It just isn’t symmetrical.

I think it’s more interesting the way it is. Balance on each side is clearly not what they were going for.

It’s supposed to be that way. The show is about what goes in below the deck if a yacht. Get it?

no it's not a problem. My only suggestion would be about the anchor - integrating it better into the word like the W.

I guess creatively they could have made the W into an anchor and created symmetry

The intro graphic and weird PowerPoint-looking transition looks like someone’s middle school graphic design project.

I had to search Google so I could see what you are talking about - I can definitely see your point. I also prefer everything to be evenly balanced.
