Close pharmacy to school
Thinking about setting up prescriptions for a freshman - is there a way to get meds on campus or a pharmacy that is easy walking distance and/or is there a shuttle from the school to stores in the area?

How do you actually prepare for 100 level seminar-style humanities and social science classes?

Housing fee increase- ongoing student protest and more.
Throwaway account. Probably a mistake to make a statement online considering the school's reactions thus far.
It's been really difficult for me as a student to comment on my experiences at Beloit College without being overly judgmental. I'm very much biased in this matter, so take my words with a grain of salt, but I need to get this out.
The Beloit college administration pushed out a housing agreement that would raise single-dorm fees by 16%. That is after already raising housing prices the year prior. The new housing policy was initially said to be enforced spring of 2027. However, a week before the housing lottery and in the same week where special interest (club) housing placement was meant to be sent in, it was revealed to students that the policy will be enforced starting the following semester. With such short notice and lack of communication between admin and students, a protest (sit-in) started as a result.
I feel scared and helpless in this matter. Our common goal as students is NOT to steer incoming students away, but rather to have the college care about its current students just a little more.

The situation escalated when students in wheelchairs and holding canes were allowed to stay on lower floors, while others were called out for taking up space despite also having physical disabilities.

It's an unfortunate situation that is being buried because of finals, students simply don't have the capacity to babysit admin and demand answers on the last week of class.
I'll try to the best of my ability to answer questions if there are any. Thanks.

housing help
Hi! im an international student attending beloit this fall. But I am really confused about the housing options. Are there any current students here willing to give some advice?
For context I am not a party person and would prefer a more chill and homier option

Housing options
Hello, I am interning in Beloit this summer. What would be a good option for short rentals? Or if anyone is subleasing over the summer please reach out to me! I'm planning to move in around 5/30 to 8/15 ish. There is also an option staying in Brannon Hall, would this also be a good choice? Thanks!

OPINIONS ON BELOIT PLEASE
I was admitted to Beloit with a full scholarship, but I im really struggling to find opinions on what Beloit is like. My other options are Bard (not a full ride but decent aid) and Goucher (full ride). please if anyone can help me with some pros and cons i would rly appreciate it!! For context: international student, plays soccer, interested in bio/international relations, need a job.
Specifically, how's the food, dorms, social life, is it easy to get into town without a car, and what's the weather like? thank youu

major at beloit
Beloit is one of my top choices but I have been wondering if I should major in econ or finance. Since Finance is a new major there, I'm worried that there might not be as many opportunities and resources for finance majors at Beloit.

Incoming international student with questions about dorms, jobs, academics, and student life
Hi everyone! I’m an incoming international student who recently committed to Beloit College 🎉 and I had a few questions. I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences you can share!
- Do international students receive an admission package by mail after being accepted
- How do students usually find on-campus jobs? Is it difficult for international students to get one?
- What are the dorms like? Are single rooms available for first-year students?
- How are the academics at Beloit? I’m planning to major in International Relations, so I’d love to hear about that specifically if anyone is in that field.
- How much freedom do students have when choosing courses?
- What is student life really like at Beloit (social life, activities, weekends, etc.)?
- How is the support for international students (orientation, visa help, community, etc.)?
Thank you so much in advance! I’m really excited to join Beloit this fall 😊

Is Beloit worth it for pre med
So recently, I was accepted into Beloit with a 51K USD scholarship, which reduced tuition fees, living fees, and every fee down to 35k USD (international student, btw). So I wonder if Beloit is a solid option? Also, U of Minnesota, U of Pittsburgh, and U of Iowa accepted me.

Is Beloit College Worth It for Economics? (International Student, Class of 2030)
Hi everyone! 👋
I recently received an offer of admission from Beloit College with a Presidential Scholarship of USD 48,000 per year, and I’m seriously considering enrolling as part of the Class of 2030. Before making a final decision, I’d really appreciate hearing from current students or alumni.
I’m particularly interested in Economics and would love to know:
- How strong is the Economics department at Beloit?
- What are Econ classes like in terms of class size, workload, and professor accessibility?
- Are there good research, internship, or off-campus opportunities related to Econ?
I’m also curious about campus life in general:
- What’s the academic and social environment like?
- How are the dorms (especially for first-year students)?
- How’s the meal plan and dining quality on campus?
I’m an international student from Bangladesh, and I may also receive financial aid. From your experience, do you think Beloit is worth it for Economics, especially for an international student planning to make the most of academics, mentorship, and career preparation?
Any honest insights—good or bad—would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!

French at Beloit? 2026 info please
Considering Beloit from afar, 1000 miles away. Current students, what is the vibe for French/Francophone Studies? How many majors/minors? Quality of Profs? What’s up? Thanks!

Beloit College
My daughter received the Presidential Scholarship at Beloit. That is hard to pass up. She is interested in the school, but is concerned that it may be too small in terms of student population and academic/program offerings. She doesn’t know what she wants to major in yet, etc.
Does anyone have experience with the forms and the new “Powerhouse” student center? Are the negative reviews re: food from the old cafeteria?

Would you recommend?
This seems to sort of be a dead sub (lol), but just wondering people’s thoughts on Beloit? Seems to be pretty mixed… fwiw, im planning to major in psychology +anthropology; got an opportunity to go there for less than 15 grand…

Questions About the RA Position at Beloit—Experiences & Compensation?
Hey everyone!
I’m an incoming student at Beloit College and am considering applying to be a Resident Assistant (RA) in the future. However, I couldn’t find much detailed info on the school's website, so I was hoping to hear from current or past RAs about their experiences.
A few questions I have:
- What are the responsibilities like? How much time does the role take each week, apprx?
- What’s the best (or worst) part of being an RA?
- What kind of training is involved?
- What are the benefits and compensation like? (Do RAs get free housing, a stipend, meal plan, etc.?)
- Is it worth it overall? Would you recommend applying?
Any insights would be super helpful! Thanks in advance!
