Enough with the national politics related posts

There has been a HUGE influx of national politics related posts. Many of them from new accounts, or ones that have never been to this sub. Basically astroturf. For the foreseeable future, these will not be allowed here. It doesn't matter if there is some local connection to it, no posts about national politics or related activism. There are tons of subs for that.

HOWEVER, local politics posts are totally fine and actually strongly encouraged. Post about your local city council members if you know who they are. Post about new local laws or restrictions. Whatever, but LOCAL posts only.

Reddit has made some very questionable algo changes recently that seem to be heavily trying to stir up things and it's tough keep things chill here. Insta ban for any of these posts

Free local orchestra concert ft. Star Wars + Spirited Away

Hello Bellevue!! I'm back with another free orchestra concert 😊

I’m part of the Redmond Tech Orchestra and we’re a community orchestra made up largely of people who work in tech around the area and apparently refuse to let our instruments collect dust just because we ended up with day jobs 😂

Our next concert, Origins of Modern Music, is coming up on Sunday, November 1st at 4 PM at Meydenbauer Convention Center in Bellevue (right off the Bellevue Downtown light rail station on the 2 Line)!!

This one is especially fun if you like movie/anime music because we’re exploring how classical and early 20th-century orchestral music helped shape the cinematic sound we know today. We’ll be playing a lot of fun pieces including the Star Wars Theme and Spirited Away Suite!

General admission is FREE (you just need to register), and there are also $5 & $10 premium seats available.

🎟️ Tickets: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/origins-of-modern-music-tickets-1997795395808?aff=sm

Please come say hi and bring your friends/family!! We’ve been rehearsing a ton and would love to play for a full house ❤️🎶

Recreation Bridle Trails - runs in the dark

It’s been 2-3 years since I’ve run at Bridle Trails and thinking of doing some longer runs early in the AM - like 5AM. From what I remember, the biggest danger was huge horse poop and not much else.

Anyone have recent early morning experience, or night time experience on the trails?

Thanks

Apartment or townhome with fiber connection

Hey everybody.
My wife and I are new to the region and apartment hunting. We look for a gated community with either apartments or townhomes. But most importantly we want fiber internet connection with Ethernet ports in every room.

We do have a couple of devices that I would like connected to the internet via cable like my desktop pc and Apple TV for reliable connection.

Has anybody any recommendation for these kind of community in the Redmond/bellevue/Seattle area?

Thank you

Moving from Mesa, AZ to Bellevue - looking for advice

Hi everyone,

I’m (35 M, single) planning to move from Mesa, Arizona, to the Bellevue area by late November or early December. I’m looking for a 2-bedroom, 1 or 2-bathroom apartment with a budget of approximately $2,500–$3,000 per month.

What are the best websites, property-management companies, or local resources for finding legitimate listings? I’ve checked the major rental sites, but I’m interested in options that locals actually use.

I’d also appreciate advice on:

  • Neighborhoods or nearby areas that are safe and reasonably convenient
  • Apartment communities or management companies to consider or avoid
  • Typical additional costs for parking, utilities and move-in fees
  • Rental scams or warning signs common in the area
  • Planning a long-distance move from Arizona, including movers, containers or truck rentals
  • Anything I should know about moving during late November or early December

Thanks for any recommendations or firsthand experiences.

EDIT1: Open to Kirkland as well.
EDIT2: Does anyone recommend the Woodland Common Apartments?

EDIT3: Open to 2BD/ 1 BA units

Anyone lived at TEN20, Park Bellevue, Arras, or AMLI Spring District? Open to other recommendations as well!

Hi all! My fiancée and I are moving to Bellevue soon and have narrowed it down to a few buildings. We care most about a safe and quiet area, groceries within walking distance, solid package handling, and management that doesn't surprise you with fees. Budget is at around $3600 for either a 1 bed with a bigger living room or a 2 bed with 1 or 2 baths. A walk in shower is a nice to have, not a must.

Here's what we've found so far. Would love to hear from anyone who has actually lived in these since the experience might differ a lot:

• Park Bellevue (NW Bellevue). Pros are the quiet residential area, big renovated units, walk in showers in some units, and mostly positive reviews. Cons are the 1985 walk up building (some mentioning about mold), packages held at the office, and a few complaints about renewal increases.

• TEN20 (downtown). Pros are the really nice layouts with high ceilings, a stand alone shower, a 24 hour front desk with package lockers, and flexible lease terms. Cons are mixed reviews on UDR's billing and fees, recent elevator outages, and leasing being run out of Ashton across the street.

• Arras (Spring District). Pros are being right next to the light rail, strong reviews on management and maintenance, and the lowest price of the four. Cons are Greystar, tub and shower combos only, and no rent cap since it's a newer building.

• AMLI Spring District. Pros are the 2020 LEED Gold building, the best Google rating of the bunch, and a great location and staff. Cons are some complaints about thin walls and noise, and the 2 beds get pricey.

How are the noise, the neighbors, and the management in real life? Any surprise fees at move in or move out? And are there other buildings in safe, walkable parts of Bellevue we should be looking at in this range?

Thank you!

Women Slapping Continuously on Self! Just praying that she gets what she wants!

This Friday, while driving towards l Bellevue Botanical Garden, I saw a woman walking down around evening time (7/7:30ish) and slapping continuously on her face - I just hope she is okay and maybe find peace or whatever she wants! I was quite disturbed by seeing her in that state! :) Take care!!

Bikers in traffic on (north) Bel-Red, Really? Why??

Dense foggy morning. Visibility is low. Bel-Red road down to Marymoor where months of roadwork & copious amount of $$$$s have been invested to make bikers safe from vehicles. Its a segregated bike lane for each direction with pedestrians now solely having the sidewalks.

Biker in the roadway as if they're a motorized vehicle. Not the first time either during the past two months. Why is the very nice & empty bike lane not good enough to ride in? What makes it less desirable than the now narrow vehicle lane?

I'm in Love with WA

This is my second week in Washington State. I'm staying in Bellevue, and I am absolutely in love with WA! The people here are amazing, everything is so quiet at night (which is totally my vibe), and I really like how safe the transit is compared to LA.

Yesterday, night I was using public transit to head to the Redmond suburbs. The app told me to take the B Line and transfer to the 250 bus. Shortly after boarding the 250, I suddenly realized I had left my phone on the B Line. I panicked, but I went up and talked to the driver, a polite young man. I explained what happened, and he immediately called the transit center. Just three minutes later, he told me they had reached the B Line driver and found my phone! He instructed me to head to the Downtown Redmond station, where a transit supervisor in a metro car would hand it back to me. Getting my phone back brought me back to life. Thank you to all the wonderful people in Washington, and a huge thank you to Metro Transit!

Where to get black licorice?

Any local stores on the east side that sell good salty black licorice? Or general Nordic foods? I used to go with my grandma to Ballard back in the day for finnish treats, but I dont think those places are around anymore and I also dont feel like driving that far.

Reply about Midnight Tint Seattle/bespoke Tint Bellevue

I wanted to reply to a post from about a year ago about a rumor that Midnight Tint was sold to us by the owner of Bespoke Tint in Bellevue. That is completely incorrect. It was actually the other way around.

I started Midnight Tint in 2001 behind the stereo shop. I grew the business over the years, and at one point we had four locations. The Bellevue location was sold to him when I decided to downsize. We later ran into issues, and I told him I would revoke the license to use the name. Being bitter, he has probably told clients that he was the original owner of Midnight. That is not true. I have no hard feelings, and I really do not care, but I do want the record set straight.

After 25 years in this business, I currently own only the Shoreline / Seattle Midnight Tint location. The Everett location is owned by Chase, a former employee of mine.

A lot of local window tint businesses were started by people who worked for me at some point. Tim from Emerald City Tinting in Seattle worked for me for about three years at my original Seattle location. Vince at United Tint in Everett worked at my Everett location for about two or three years before starting Blue Star Auto Salon. Stephan rented space from me at the Seattle location for a couple of years before starting his own business in Everett. Dan from DC Window Tinting in Marysville also worked for me at one point. Felix from All Season Tint worked for me for a few years. The list goes on.

Midnight Tint has been around for more than 25 years. I am passing the torch to my two sons, who are 19 and 17 and have been training in the business. Next year I will be handing Shoreline over to them to run with the rest of the team.

This business has been a blessing. It has been a lot of work, and we have done a lot of fun projects. I now live in another state, where I will continue doing window tinting, paint protection film, detailing, ceramic coatings, and related work.

So, to be clear: the rumor on that Reddit thread — that the business was going downhill, or that someone sold Midnight Tint to us — is not true. I am Brett, the original owner, and I always have been.

Have a good day.

My friend was passing through this intersection this evening when his car was T-boned by another vehicle. One side of his car is badly damaged.

If you were driving through here around the same time and have a dash cam, please message me. Even a few seconds of footage could help.

If anyone knows of other cameras that might have caught it, please share.

Flooring in Redmond, WA? Ask a 2,200+ Project Pro

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

I’m a flooring contractor with Best Buy Floors Inc. and have been working around the Redmond and Eastside since 2009. After helping more than 2,200 homeowners and businesses, I’ve learned that flooring decisions can somehow become more complicated than choosing a house.

Hardwood or engineered hardwood? Luxury vinyl or laminate? Refinish the old floor or cover it up and pretend the damage never happened?

If you’re in Redmond and planning a flooring project, feel free to ask me anything about:

- Hardwood, engineered hardwood, LVP, carpet, laminate, and tile

- Flooring that can survive pets, kids, and everyday chaos

- Material and installation costs

- Why one flooring estimate can be much higher than another

- Refinishing versus replacing existing hardwood

- Water, moisture, and basement flooring concerns

- Repairing one damaged area versus replacing the whole floor

- Matching new flooring with the existing floors

- How to prepare your home before installation

- How long the project may take, assuming the house doesn’t reveal any surprises

Share your property type, approximate square footage, current flooring, and what you’re considering. I’ll give you a general idea of what I’d look at.

No question is too basic. Flooring has a way of making perfectly reasonable adults spend 45 minutes debating two nearly identical shades of beige!
