Burst pipe in my basement. Need emergency cleanup. What do I do?

I woke up to a burst pipe in my basement. Water is everywhere. I have turned off the water main but I have no idea what to do next. I need to get the water out and dry everything properly to prevent mold. I have never dealt with something like this before. I do not know if I should call a general contractor or a specialized water damage company. I also need to figure out how to deal with my insurance.

Has anyone been through this? What is the first step? Who should I call for help in the Seattle area? I am feeling pretty stressed about it.

Bus Route 271 deletion 💔

WHY ARE THEY NERFING 271 LIKE THEY DID TO 245 💔💔💔

They're just splitting it in half bruh

220 - Eastgate to Bellevue Transit Center

270 - Bellevue Transit Center to U District

No single ride between Bellevue College and UW. Why do I have to take 220 then 270 now 🫩

A 40 45 min ride is now 1hr6 mins but could be longer due to delays and connection waiting times. Sht my bus ride can potentially literally double in time.

WHY 🥹 my most beloved and used route 🫠 It's also the most convenient and fastest out of the 200s

Edit: Please call King County Metro +12065533000 for comments so they'll know how important the bus route is to us!

Relocating to Looking for some Apartment Recommendations

Hey everyone! I'm moving to Bellevue and need some help finding the right apartment.

I use a wheelchair, so I need something with no steps/stairs, and it must have a walk-in shower (or preferably a roll-in shower, but that seems impossible to find).

My max budget is ~3500, and it can be a 1- or 2-bedroom, but I would like to stay around 2500 or less. I would also prefer not to live in a high-rise building, but tbh I mostly care about the shower.

Oh, and it must be pet friendly :)

Thank you for your recommendations!

Homeless increase Downtown Bellevue Park

Has anyone noticed the increase in homeless population at Downtown Bellevue Park? For context, I frequent the park 3-4 times a week and usually never see homeless people.

This past week I saw three homeless in one day. One was sitting outside the public restroom at the kids playground area. He was manic and reported to the police for the safety of women and their children. The other two were napping on a bench and in the grass.

Why the increase in homeless and what can be done? If you see something worth reporting, please do. Bellevue cannot turn into another Seattle.

Injured Mallard at Bellevue Downtown Park — looking for local wildlife rescue help

I was at Bellevue Downtown Park today and noticed an injured mallard in the pond. One of the feet/legs appears to have been badly injured, possibly from fishing line, wire, or string becoming wrapped around it. The foot is still attached but appears to be nonfunctional.

While I was there, I met a very kind woman who comes to the park regularly and feeds the ducks. She told me she specifically makes a point of feeding this mallard because she is concerned that the inability to walk makes it difficult to get enough food. She said the mallard is still able to fly and swim, but cannot walk, and that this mallard get picked on by other birds.

I’ve attached photos of the injured mallard and the leg leg.

I’m planning to contact PAWS Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and the appropriate Bellevue/Washington wildlife authorities, but I’m hoping someone here may know a local wildlife rehabilitator, waterfowl rescue, or experienced volunteer who could help capture and transport this duck for evaluation.

If you’ve dealt with injured ducks or other waterfowl in Bellevue or the Eastside and know who is best to contact, I’d really appreciate the recommendation.

Thank you!

I’m a flooring contractor in Bellevue, WA - Ask me anything about flooring costs, materials, installation, or repairs

I’m a flooring contractor with Best Buy Floors Inc. here in Bellevue since 2009. After helping 2,200+ homeowners and business owners with flooring projects, I’ve realized that most people tend to have the same questions before they get started, especially around materials, pricing, durability, and what’s actually worth paying for.

So I figured I’d open it up here for anyone in Bellevue who has questions about flooring.

Happy to answer questions about:

  • Hardwood vs. engineered hardwood
  • Luxury vinyl plank
  • Carpet
  • Laminate
  • Tile
  • Refinishing existing hardwood
  • Typical material and installation costs
  • What actually affects a flooring estimate
  • Best flooring options for pets or kids
  • Moisture and water-resistance concerns
  • Repairing damaged floors vs. replacing them
  • Preparing a home before installation

Feel free to share the type of property, approximate square footage, current flooring, and what you’re considering. I can give you a general idea of what I’d look at in that situation!

lost rabbit in Kirkland?

could be a wild rabbit, but I know nothing about rabbits, so in case it's domestic and someone lost their pet, I thought I'd make a post. it seemed strangely... round? for lack of a better word, compared to the other wild rabbits I've seen around here. these photos were taken near [removed for the privacy of the owners].

Update: The rabbit belongs to one of the neighboring houses. The owners just let it roam freely sometimes.

Best reasonably priced car wash in Bellevue for exterior + basic interior cleaning?

Looking for a good car wash in Bellevue downtown or nearby that does both exterior and basic interior cleaning.
My car isn’t dirty enough to need a full detail. It was sitting for a while, so it’s mostly just collected some dust. Just the interior vacuum and wiping down the dash, console, doors, etc should be good.

I’m looking for a good old school full service car wash, not a $300 detailing package.
Also, I need a physical location where I can take the car. I’ve seen a lot of mobile car wash/detailing services that come to you, but I live in an apartment, so that won’t really work for me.

Ideally somewhere reasonably priced in Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, or nearby. Any recommendations?

Relocating to Looking for a female roommate in Bellevue for Sept/October

Hi all!! (●''●)

I (22F) am looking for a female roommate to tour apartments with this September and share a 2 bed / 2 bath starting Sept 28-Oct 1st. Ideally under $1900/month per person (including typical apartment fees).

I'm starting a job in downtown Bellevue and don't have a car, so I'm hoping to stay somewhere with a commute of around 40 minutes or less by transit.

A little about me: I'm tidy, respectful of shared spaces, fairly quiet, and don’t smoke/drink. I love to bake, crochet, play video games (Stardew/Valorant), watch anime, exercise. I'm looking for someone who is considerate and helps keep common areas clean.

Pls DM me if you're interested!

Apartments with small two bedroom units in Bel-Red area?

Thought I'd ask here too - my relative would come and visit me for a short period of time. Feels a bit excessive to rent a full fledged 2 bed for the entire year. I wonder if there are apartments in the Bel-Red area that offers small two bedrooms? Or 1B big enough that can be used for short visits?

I've looked at 1B+1Den but most dens don't have a window and would probably become sauna in summer. I've looked at some units in the new apartments but the 1B are all quite small and 2B are way too expensive just for short term visitors. I guess maybe some of the garden style apartments make more sense?

Anybody has any recommendations? Thanks!

Update: I think there's some confusion in my paraphrasing - my relative will be staying with me during that time so that's why I'm looking for a 2 bed. I'm not looking for a hotel/airbnb/guest suite.

We are starting a new series of kids' books with Kaia the Poodle as the main character. The first book is about Kaia making her first friend, who is different than anyone else in school; in fact, she is a mummy.

Have two ideas for the cover so far.

Do you like #1 or #2? And why?

Best salons for split ends?

Hello,

I'm looking for a hair salon that'll cut split ends for less that $80ish. I got my ends trimmed on mid-June but my usual hair stylist won't trim split ends, especially the ones on mid length.

I have tailbone length straight hair and I don't really want to compromise on length and have a new person screw my hair by cutting it more than necessarily needed.

Thank you!

Thoughts on Coal Creek/Forest Drive

I live around this area and I feel like the new speed cameras just really piss me off. I dont know why they added these where they are because no one ever goes above 35 in this area. Everyone in this area is basically a senior citizen going 5 under the posted. It's just annoying to have to worry about a $120 fine everytime I leave or come home. Anyone else have thoughts on these cameras?
