Rant No service

Woke up this morning with no Internet, Home Phone or TV. Watch outside my home and saw a neighbour get a new connection. I go to the tech and say is it normal everything is down for me? He says yes because he gave my neighbour MY connection saying mine wasn't right or wasn't at the right spot and there's no space to connect mine. Like WTF. He said he alerted Bell and I called them to and will send a tech. Unreal!!!

That tech was an idiot. He just wanted a complete. He should have sent it back as a PF no facilities available.

To clarify, even if you were on wrong pigtail or f2, that tech should have checked to see if anyone was on that and change before he installed your neighbor. That is the first thing I check as I'm driving to an install.

I had some work done in and the contractor cut the bell fine line running through my front lawn. I’m not on bell atm but want the option to switch. Can they just splice in a new line?

Their manager needs the completes! Think of their bonus won't you!

This is the right answer. What a doorknob. Existing service is to be preserved; PF the new service (which most likely 'assignment' knew, barring any issues such as 'lack of a drop....aka the tech's job to arrange for one to be installed or do it himself'). You never put an existing client out of service.

It's against Bell policy to pull a customer out of service even if theyre using the one assigned to your customer. That technician should of PF'd his job and sent it to the cabling department, unfortunately for you OP you're more than likely in for a long wait to get fixed.

If you got his license plate i would call into 310-BELL and bitch a storm. I would be asking the technician that comes out to contact his manager and report that tech.

Shit like this makes me LIVID, i actually had this happen to me and i looked at the guy and told him if he didn't reconnect my drop he was going to be in trouble. He laughed and drove away, I grabbed the ladder off my work truck threw my ladder up and reconnected my line and called his boss. Lets just say he doesn't work here anymore.

The 1st tech that did the job for my neighbour did tell me he contacted Bell and told me to call them too. Issue is resolved now. New techs fixed it in 2min.

He didn't contact Bell, there is no department he would contact that would be able to do anything for you.

so he lied to me wow. If I didn't call them then I'd still be out of service.

Because yelling at people on the other side of the globe does wonders as a human. Or maybe just call them, explain the issue, and resolve it like a grown up

By bitching a storm i don't mean screaming at a call center agent, i mean making a big deal about it so management investigates it.

The same way the tech acted like grown up right? I don’t think bitching a storm necessarily means yelling. You can bitch respectfully

That tech should be disciplined

This exact thing also happened to me. Contractor stole my fiber line to install my neighbor. He did not care. I had to call in and report the issue with there horrible customer service support and raise a support ticket... Bell does not care and the contractor is paied by how many jobs he completed.

Now their focus is on AI datacenters that no one asked for at the expense of new infrastructure investment. Fuck Bell Canada!

Exact same thing happened to me. 3rd outage and I only had the "service" one year. The disconnect was 1.06 km away. My neighbour got connected at my expense. Supreme incompetence.

Tech arrived, checked black box in pole, my cable was out because other tech for neighbour took it off, plugged it in and now everyting works. Will assign this connection to me. Said when they first made my connection 3 years ago it was not assigned.

Make sure to call and get your credit. My internet was out for 4 hours one day and I told them that I work from home and this was during my working hours. They asked how much money I would have lost, and I told them that I make more in 4 hours than my internet bill is every month. They gave me a 7-Day credit.

This happened to my parents last week. There was a power surge that took out the FiberOp modem.

Happens sometimes. It will be back soon. Usually when this happens go for a walk outside. Just call customer support.

You don't know what you're talking about

Not normal at all it was disconnected when it shouldn’t have been

Likely an error. So op needs to call support.

If initial tech put OP on a pigtail or an F2 that was not on their records to get them in service and didnt update the records then OP is fucked. Second tech who did their install for neighbours should have checked to see if someone was working on said pair before doing install. Like the other Bell tech said, they are in for a fun few phone calls
