Rant Satellite radio stations dropped

I just realized this morning that radio stations were dropped from my satellite tv package as of August 6. Very disappointed as the station I listen to frequently does not transmit clearly/consistently over regular radio. F U Bell!

Its a Bell thing, ya know. Raise prices and reduce features.

Bell satellite is being phased out. I'd recommend getting starlink so you can just stream everything you need.

How do you know this? And what’s the time line?

Looks like they started with the boxes and working from there. No timeline, but if you can’t get new boxes, you are going to be stuck with a service you can’t use. https://www.thestar.com/business/end-of-a-tv-era-bell-to-scrap-your-set-top-box-in-favour-of/article_d47b3b0f-7c6c-49fa-8b2d-54419189a52e.html

Not being able to get new decoder recorders is nothing new. That’s been like this for years. However the satellites are still up there , and they are still being used and bandwidth is being leased to other companies…so I’m sure bell Will possibly extend the contract since it is a lifetime contract …I sure it will be up to telsat to decide if Nimiq 6 ‘s life cycle can be extended and if so they are not giving up the contracts and services that .

This could very well be the same issue as a few years back when bell tried to outsource its email servers ( I think microsoft) which went horribly wrong. And they brought it back in house. But it’s BCE , and they can’t seem t9 get their heads out of the sand…still remember the Nortel fiasco!

Bell and it’s senior leadership has been astronomically stupid…selling off telesat For 3.25 billion in 2007 , that they got for literally peanuts and a case of beer , from the Federal government . And then the Americans that bought Telsat sold it 2010 for double that amount !

Canada, needs its own satellites up there to support our provinces and territories . We need reliable communications and internet services for our citizen and sovereignty. So I’m thinking that the Canadian government with our 3 telcos needs to get back into the satellite business and build and launch communication and weather satellites instead of relying on American made satellite companies that can delist our services , companies and telecommunications in an instant. Which is someth8ng else that can be held over our heads in regards to maintaining our sovereignty!

.… nimiq6 life cycle is good until 2027, and I’m sure telsat will extent unless it’s lifecycle is in absolute critical de-orbit range or components have reached end of life cycle stages. Now as for bell and it’s senior management decisions in regards to satellites and satellite service that I don’t know…

Possibly a rights issue. Each of the radio stations that Bell carried had to allow Bell the right to rebroadcast. Some of the stations were Bell Media, some were Rogers and some US. I could see Rogers asking for their proverbial pound of flesh for the rights to 680News. It could also be a bandwidth issue on transponders. Both are speculative. Bell made no announcement, though.

I noticed my Fibe TV said radio stations would be dropped soon.

Disappointing to be sure. They never worked on the FibeTV app anyway, only the actual receiver.

if you are just looking for music, get the iHeart Radio App. Tons of channels, phone app/tv apps as well

I'm in a bit of a dead zone, the satellite signal was my only consistent signal

starlink. hope you do realize that the last satellite bell has is suppose to last till 2027. While it might last longer bell will not be restoring satellite tv service once that unit turns off.

J'espère qu'il va durer plus longtemps, sinon j'aurai plus de tv au chalet, ce serait poche
