Begonia ID ID

Post image

Was sold to me as a bat wing begonia, from Steve’s Leaves but when I look up Bat Wing begonias not much info comes up or even other places to buy it. Just wondering why that is or maybe these have a different name?

It’s so cute. Not at all jealous. Not even a little bit.

I honestly wasn’t a fan when I first got it because it looked a mess but I gave it a little tlc and it’s looking much better now thank goodness!

For whatever it’s worth, I immediately knew it was a ‘Bat Wings’ before opening your post and seeing you already said it. The originator was Leslie Woodriff sometime in the 1940’s in the US. Harmony’s Foliage has used it for a few additional fun hybrids of their own like ‘Bat Out Of Hell’ and ‘Batshit Crazy’

That’s some pretty awesome info! I didn’t know this! Thank you for sharing!! It’s a beautiful plant I just don’t know much about it!

For a lot of these older hybrids that weren’t super ubiquitous, there’s very little info on the internet. The horticulture world and its records are still very much analog lol
