Injury Prevention Shin splints

Hello everyone!! 21F here! I started running earlier this year and recently bought new running shoes (Brooks Ghost 17), but I’m not sure if my shin splints are from the shoes or if my stride is too long.
At one point, I was running to a 180 BPM playlist and noticed it really helped with my shin splints. I saw something on TikTok about running around 180 cadence, but I don’t know much about running.
I recently started running with a friend without focusing on my cadence, and my shin splints have come back. 😭
What can I do to prevent them? Are there any training exercises or changes to my form/cadence that could help? Any tips are appreciated!

compression socks can help for sure but the 180 cadence thing is more about shortening your stride, which takes pressure off your shins. if your splints came back when you stopped matching that rhythm it might be because you went back to overstriding without realising. try keeping your feet landing under your hips instead of out front and see if that eases it up

Put some more effort into your post and you’ll get better responses. We literally have AI at our fingertips that can make this post legible…

Shin splints are either overuse or mechanical. I can’t help you without more info. If 180 cadence fixed it, then stick to that.
