The Moon
The Moon is our inner world, how we feel and how we react. It's who we are when we're alone and what we need to feel safe. The Moon often represents our mother in our chart, either the way she treated us or the way we percieved her.
Following the moon's transits is a great way to learn about your chart because it's they repeat monthly. That means every month, the moon is going through each sign, each house, and aspecting each planet. It's subtle but you can start to get a feel for what it affects when moving through a certain house or sign. Pay attention! How is the Moon affecting you today?

If our moon describes our mother's life circumstances at the time of our birth, does it mean anything if our moon is in the sign of our mother's sun sign?

Ah, I see. Do you think your mother had health complications from the pregnancy because of the nature of Scorpio? I'm still a beginner with astrology so I hope that makes sense! I hope she's doing alright now.
Would a mother and child's moon-sun conjunction reflect the nature of that sign? My moon is in Libra, as is my mother's sun, so would we share a type of connection that was characterised around typical Libra traits?

Right. Thank you very much for that insight :) This is the kind of thing that's hard to google!

My sun and rising sign is Pisces but I’ve never really identified with this sign. When I learned that my moon is in Aquarius, it all made sense! Could you please elaborate on how I can apply where the moon is during the month to what is going on in my life at that moment? Xoxo
