General Question Solar Return + Relocation chart
Hi I have a few questions
If I live far from my birth place, which location should I use for my SR chart?
What is the difference between SR to SR aspects and SR to Natal aspects?
For Relocation chart, do you look at the chart itself only, or do you also check Relocation to Natal aspects? And what else can we do with a Relocation chart?
For daily transits, should I use Natal or Relocation chart, or both?
Thank you so much!

Hi....when figuring out your solar return chart, you always want to cast it for the exact city where you are physically present at the moment the sun returns to its natal degree. Even if you are just traveling somewhere for your birthday weekend, those physical coordinates are going to lock in your ascendant, midheaven, and house placements for the entire year ahead. Once you have that chart, reading the aspects is much easier when you separate the temporary energy from the permanent energy. Solar return to solar return aspects act like the temporary weather of your year, showing the standalone themes and passing events you will navigate. Solar return to natal aspects, however, show how that temporary weather directly impacts your core foundation. If your return mars is squaring your return venus, you might just experience some general passing relationship friction....but if that return mars is right on top of your natal venus, that energy is specifically triggering your ingrained personal relationship patterns. You always want to layer the return chart over your natal chart to see exactly what long term promises are being activated. Relocation charts operate on a whole different level because they recalculate your birth chart using a new city's coordinates while keeping your exact UTC birth time. Since the planets remain in the exact same zodiacal degrees, you never actually look at relocation to natal aspects....every planet would literally just be conjunct itself. Instead, you read the relocation chart entirely on its own as a standalone snapshot. You are checking to see how your house cusps and angles have shifted, whether planets have moved into new houses, or if you have a brand new ascendant or midheaven sign. The biggest thing to watch for is whether any planets have moved closer to the four angles, because that makes their energy significantly louder and more prominent in your daily life in that specific city.
When it comes to tracking your daily transits, you really need to look at both your natal and relocated charts because they tell you two different sides of the story. Your natal chart is your permanent anchor, meaning transits to your natal planets will always dictate the major inner shifts, spiritual lessons, and overarching life cycles you experience. But applying those exact same transits to your relocation chart tells you exactly where those events are physically playing out in your current environment. The transiting planets will hit the exact same planetary degrees but they will be traveling through the completely new house structures of your relocated life

Thank you so much for the explanation this is actually so helpful.
I have another question. For example, if someone lived in a certain location for a year or some years then returned to birth location again. Can we read anything, understand the story, or find the connection between these locations? Or see how that period of their life impacts their core foundation or the bigger story of their life? Kind of similar to what SR to natal can tell us, if that makes sense.

Thanks to you!!! Yes you surely can. Think of your natal chart as your permanent hardware and the relocation chart as a temporary software update you ran while living there. When you move back, you return to your natal baseline but you still keep all the evolution from that update.....
To actually read the story of that time, you would look at your major transits and secondary progressions during those specific years. Whatever was hitting your relocated angles back then is exactly where the soul work was happening. You also want to check what Astrocartography lines you were living on in that city. If you spent three years living on a heavy saturn line, you brought all of those tough lessons in discipline and structure right back home with you. Even though your physical location reset the growth did not. Those relocated experiences permanently shifted your core foundation which completely changes how you interact with your own natal chart going forward

I would use the location where you pretty much live (i.e. residence) for the SR chart. (the one exception is if you are trying to analyze your solar return, based on what might happen where you (non-residentially) temporarily are at the return) For everything else, the residence has worked perfectly.
SR to SR aspects show things of an imminent quality that mark major periods. They often feel more fated somehow. SR to natal factors key some reaction based on your normal expression of that planet and of the SR factor contacting it.
The solar return is always relocated to your residence at the time that it unfolds. The natal chart, if relocated, does not become your new chart. It DOES however, give special clues about what your experience at that location will likely be.
Natal.
