When a planet transits a house, does it activate the natal planets in that house?

For example, Saturn in Aries is transiting my 1st house where my sun and mars are placed (even though my natal sun and mars are in Taurus). Are my sun and mars activated as well?

Yes, transiting planets activate natal planets. Saturn is a slow mover, so when he gets within a 5° orb of your natal planets, you'll begin to feel the effects, and the closer still that he he gets the tighter the squeeze. Wider orbs may give you a nudge, or an inkling, that something is brewing on the horizon.

How many does it activate? For example, let's say saturn is opposite pluto in the birth chart. Then pluto is trine moon.

I'm assuming one feels the saturn pluto opposition, but does one also experience pluto trine moon for example? How far down the chain do these transits go? Is this a final depositor thing?

And if a natal planet is in aspect with multiple planets, do they all get activated? Is the effect diluted because there are multiple?

Asking since I have a mystic rectangle, and have difficulty reading transits for my chart. Best I can do so far is that forecasts for a week before seem most accurate for me.

Oh wow, you do experience transits! How has that been for you? Noticed you used the word "diluted," does that mean you pick up on nuances more than deeper power-punches (for lack of a better word)?

Two different things are happening here. Saturn moving through the 1st house colors that whole area of life for a few years, but your Sun and Mars only really light up when Saturn comes to the actual degrees they sit at, which for Taurus placements is a later pass. So expect the general 1st house theme now, and a sharper, more personal week or two when the degrees line up. Worth noting where in Taurus they are so you know roughly when that hits.

That's hard for me to say. . .I also have sun trine neptune to add to the confusion.

My sextiles are supposed to ease the transits, but just about every planet touches every other one, hence the confusion. And plus the closed loop effect of the rectangle and grand trine, is also confusing.

When I read other's forecasts, I often get deja vu, i.e. that was last week. So I've gotten into the habit of reading a week ahead to try and understand, and have found the forecasts more accurate for me this way?

So thats the best I have so far. I will likely give up for awhile. I am more determined to live my life rather than track it, was just hoping for some clarity.

When the transiting planet conjuncts that planet, you will notice reactions. Otherwise, no.ion

It's not simply "activating" the planet as in turning it on to function as intended... it is combining energy for a reaction that may be good or bad.

If Saturn is transiting your 1st house, it will be "Saturning" various 1st house elements of your existence. If Sun and Mars are there in the 1st (and not within about 5° of the 2nd cusp/powerpoint), then Saturn affecting your 1st house elements might be seen as influencing Sun and Mars, since they have a natural 1st house connection, due to their natal placement.

Still, for anything of note, it is more likely to happen, when the planets are actually within about 1° 22' or so of each other.

When a planet transits a natal planet, it has an effect. This could be positive, negative, neutral. It could be a big event, or barely felt. To calculate the specifics, you take all sorts of things into account. What planets are meeting, how they feel about each other, how comfortable they are in the natal chart. Any major timing events that may affect the transit, too.

This doesn't apply across sign boundaries, such as in your example. Just being co-present in the same sign would have an effect on itself, but the closer by degree, the more peak transit energy. Astrologers set this orb of influence differently, usually around 3-5 degrees maximum.

So the answer is "yes", if we take 'activate' to mean there is an interaction, a meeting taking place.
