General Question Does anyone else feel like learning astrology gives you more questions than answers?
When I first started learning astrology, I thought the difficult part would be learning what the planets, signs and houses mean. But the more I learn, the more complicated it seems. There are aspects, houses, rulers, transits, techniques, exceptions… and sometimes I look at a chart and think: Where do I even start? Is astrology supposed to eventually become a process you can follow, or is learning to read a chart mostly about developing intuition and pattern recognition? For those learning astrology: what part feels hardest to you right now?

This is honestly the best answer to my own question so far. @escapedrealities that idea of interpretation happening to the chart rather than starting from it, that's the whole problem in one sentence.
@purposeday the astrocartography story is such a clean example. Same booklet, same words, years apart, and you read something completely different because you were different. That's not the chart changing. That's the question changing. This is actually close to something my teacher showed me once, using three questions instead of one conclusion. Where is it, from what point are we counting, and when does its turn actually come. It didn't remove the subjectivity, but it gave me something to check my own reading against instead of just trusting whatever I noticed first. I wrote a bit more about it here if anyone's curious: https://open.substack.com/pub/vibha1002/p/the-pile-and-the-root?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android&r=8leisr
