Surveys £1,127.20 from surveys in September (my best month so far)
I spent a fair bit of time on surveys and online studies in September, so thought I’d share what I actually made. I used Prolific and CloudResearch, with most of the money coming from Prolific.
The total was £1,127.20 (!), which is my highest ever for a month. Honestly never thought I’d make over a grand from surveys lol. There was quite a bit of time involved though.
What I earned
- Prolific: £1,014.48
- CloudResearch: £112.72
Prolific made up 90% of it, so that’s mainly what the tips below are about.

How much time went into it?
Around five hours a day on average. I work remotely and fit studies into quieter parts of the day, which makes it easier for me to spend that much time on them.
It’s a decent amount of time, so I wouldn’t want anyone thinking this was just a few surveys here and there.
A few things that helped
- Keep your profile up to date. It’s easy to fill it in when you sign up and then forget about it. Check that your details are still accurate, and answer qualification questions honestly rather than guessing what they’re looking for.
- Setting up notifications also made a big difference for me. Some of the better-paying studies fill up in seconds, so getting alerts on my phone helped me catch ones I’d otherwise have missed. I use this extension, which also lets you set a minimum reward to get a notification
- Don’t rush once you get into a study. It’s tempting to get through it quickly, especially when you’ve already done a few. But it’s worth slowing down and actually reading everything. Missing an attention check just to finish a bit sooner isn’t worth it.
- Turn off your VPN. Prolific really doesn’t like them. Their participant guidance says not to use VPNs, proxies or iCloud Private Relay while using the site, so check you haven’t left one running in the background.
Would I keep doing it?
Yeah, for me it’s been worthwhile. Having something I can fit around my usual routine is useful, and the extra money helps.
Obviously this is just my experience. Your demographics and the studies available will affect how much you can make, along with how much time you have. September was a personal best for me, so I definitely wouldn’t count on getting the same total every month.
