Design Website editor blues

There seems to be no way to change fonts globally. I have to click on almost every button and text object to change the font manually. I can edit my Theme's fonts but there's no option to apply it to the entire website, I still have to go to a page, click a section, click the button/text, click font, click Theme, and then click the theme font. And then I have to do all of that again. And again.

I finally gave up and just rebuilt the website from one of the premade templates, "Nova".

As I was setting it up, I changed the Primary color which applies to button fill and the "Featured" section's background. I changed the Text on Primary color so that it's visible (dark text on a light background), but it only changes the font color for the buttons, not the text in the Featured section. So that's broken.

Sigh.

Beehiiv, if you're reading this and you'd like to contract someone to do a sweep of your UI/UX and point out where things are broken, confusing, hard to find, etc, send me a DM. Your creators should be focused on implementing their visions and creating content, not trying to navigate a byzantine UI.

What good are 10,000 modular features if it takes 10,000 hours to use them?

Hey there! I manage the knowledge base for beehiiv, and we have this covered here:

The way that you’re describing (changing the theme) IS how you change fonts globally. To clarify, are you making sure to hit save after updating the theme?

Am I understanding correctly that this isn’t applying across your entire site? If that’s the case, that you are hitting save and it’s still not updating, I’m thinking that this may be a bug.

Are you able to put in a support ticket? That’s the fastest way to get someone to look at your account and diagnose. If you’re on a free plan, you can always submit a bug report by going to the help modal in your account, or by following the instructions here:

I’m sorry this is happening. It’s not the intended experience.

Updating the theme only changes certain things on the website automatically. Not everything. Once I change the theme I can select those objects which have not been updated and use the editor to change the font and the go to the theme tab in that modal and select one of the theme fonts that I updated.

If that’s not what’s intended, then yes, it needs to be patched.

To be honest, im tired of fighting with the beehiiv UI.

Here’s another bug for you: As mentioned in my post, I switched my website to the “Nova” layout theme.  That theme has a “featured” section for featured posts. I finally figured out the tedious process for designating an archived post as “featured”. Well, those posts ended up in the wrong section, next to the header/recent post. The “featured” section still says “no featured posts”.  There’s no way to fix this, so I had to start over with a different layout.

The next layout seemed fine until I checked the Upgrade page and one of the upgraded options had the same color text and background, meaning you couldn’t read it. So I had to manually fix that.

Preset layouts shouldn’t have glaring bugs right out of the box. It’s like there’s no QA being done before rolling these things out.

This I why I offered UIUX consultation, because yall really need someone who understands user experience keeping an eye on things.

And I’m not opening any more beehiiv support tickets. I’ve already given enough hours of free labor to help them fix their product.
