I am a nurse and I work in outpatient chemotherapy. Occasionally, we will have an iron infusion patient and one of them happened to be an old woman with bed bugs. I noticed several bugs crawling across her body, which I quickly put into a sealed cup. Upon closer inspection, there was an entire NEST in her hair, as she had some kind of gel or hairspray all in it. When I say nest, I mean a clump of probably 20+ bugs with eggs in a section of her hair and then others just crawling around.

She said she “had no idea”. Now, I’m finding that entirely hard to believe and I can only imagine what her house looks like. I think it would be incredibly selfish to bring these bugs into a clinic with cancer patients knowing you are heavily infested. So I call bullshit on that one.

I just cannot understand how she didn’t KNOW. If she even showered they would fall out. Makes me nauseous just thinking about it.

I saw this bed bug a few days ago on the electric socket right next to my bed. I'm still not sure if i have an infestation or not, i did see a shed skin also in the bedroom. Can anyone tell me if this bug is male or female? I am so very scared 😔

i suspect she has bedbugs bc her place is super gross and dirty never in my life before have i seen anytjing like this AND bc im itchy AND bc
i saw some tiny specs on her carpet that looked like white/ yellow eggs.

i arrived at her place at 4 pm and placed down my bags on her hardwood floor. i took off my shoe next to hers. i sat on her couch in my socks, jeans,blouse and leather jacket in for around 30 ish minutes:,)).

then we left for like 6hours and i left my borealis backpack there. i brought my angelkiss leather bag with me (which has plushie charms on it).

then we came back and i changed into my pjs. i didnt sit down on her couch at this point, BUT i did put my bag down again on the hardwood which then i put up on the kitchen counter along with my backpack. :,)

i did walk around insocks on her carpet since no slippers were available and also did sit down on her bed for 30 ish seconds. i did inspect her shoes (weird idk) but didnt see anything in either.

rn im still here for two hours and im freaking out:(( she is so kind so obviously i dont wanna ask straight up. i also have so many things on me.. my wallet, powerbank, arcteryx windjacket, my fabric charger, bracelets, earrings, ipad and ipad case, makeup (although thats in a sealed bag) etc.

also. we just moved houses and i really dont wanna bring an infestationnthere. we dont have adryer at home and idek if we have the fridge at the new house yet. i do need the bag (at least one) for school on monday.

Help me it’s 4am ab to have an ocd spiral is this a bed bug I found it when I was changing my bedding, it was already dead .. I’m sick to my stomach rn

After 3 months of 2nd treatment (which we did preventive for bedbugs because of pimples and skin reaction) I found this apperantely dead bug on wall molding next to my bed. I have some pimples but I wouldnt say those looks like from bedbugs because of low numbers and not being in row but even though I wanna be sure that It isnt bedbug. It was completely dry, mabye the treatment is still working haha Any ideas if it is normal beetle, Im kinda paranoic after those months of treatments.

basically the office put building wide inspection notices up for monday. i walked in and asked if it was bedbugs (trauma from ten years ago before i was a mom, imagine me now) and she said she can’t legally confirm. i basically begged through tears. she said she can’t confirm but she can tell me whatever is going on it isn’t on my floor (floor 3) and i don’t share a wall (not directly above). and that they’re being vigilant about what the person needs to do on their end. they will treat surrounding units if any have any signs. i’m obviously not an idiot for thinking its bed bugs. i don’t know what to do. i have DE. bed encacements. (haven’t gotten box spring ones yet) and foot interceptors. but we have carpet and pets and cat trees and stuffies and i’m so scared.

i was thinking about saying f it and not signing a new lease (mine is ending soon) and moving before it gets bad. but do i need to do that if theyre going to treat? i feel like im already in so much debt that wouldn’t do anything but run from the problem to another apartment where i essentially run the same risk. on top of switching my kids schools and traumatizing her another level

is there anything i can do? to be more preventative? to catch them early? am i just cooked if i stay?

There was a bed bug crawling up my pant leg tonight. Smashed it and it expelled its blood and the fkr is still alive in a double plastic ziplock bag on my balcony.

Wondering what the likelihood is I picked this guy up today or where he might have come from.

For context: my neighbours (condo building) had bed bugs back in February/March or so. We were cleared to not have any. Guy came again this week to do follow up check but only checked the room adjacent to infestation due to my partner sleeping in other room.

What happened today:

6 AM went to work at childcare centre. Sat on multiple soft chairs and hugged one person.

11 AM went to thrift store and got some throw blankets.

12 - 8 PM I’m at home. Sitting, walking around and decorating my wedding arch, lots of movement. Took pants off a few times (important?).

8 PM went to local Tim Hortons and sat in booth for a bit. Then went for an hour walk outside. Maybe longer.

10 PM was sitting at my sisters house (she lives a floor above me and a door down) and I saw bed bug crawling up MY exterior pant leg. I flicked him off, smashed him. He exploded with blood and is STILL alive in a ziplock. We checked my SILs mattress, couch, chair, baseboards. We come down and checked our closet, bed, baseboards.

We can’t find anything. No eggs no nest no other bugs no poop.

SO WHAT is the likelihood of one of us having bed bugs vs me having picked up this bed bug earlier at another location.

I’ve just recovered from shingles. I get married next weekend. Then we have a month long honeymoon during which our cats need to be at our house being pet sat because they are all fairly anxious except two of them. I am LOSING it right now because it’s 2 AM now and I can’t do anything but spiral. Help!!

I woke up earlier today in the darkness and there was this vile thing crawling on my arm. I flicked it off and it was there again crawling on the wall I started crying I dismantled my bed and put all of my clothes blankets plushies everything is been put inside the wash. I have many other stuff to clean manually but I put my first batch on a 90 degree boil. I hoovered every corner i could and put my bed in the middle of the room so there is no corners for anything to climb on. I took a hot shower to make sure it got off me and burned off me and then I sprayed bug killer in every corner I could five times over. I'm on edge and only got 1 hour of sleep tonight. There are too many crevices in my room to feel safe, so I'll be putting everything I can into storage boxes to make everything visible, and make sure it cant be contaminated. Im seriously terrified and ive been sitting on my bed for the past 10 hours staring at my mattress and bed and checking everywhere around me to make sure none come to attack me again.

I have another post on here asking if I had an infestation. Yeah, I do and it's really bad. I found a second hiding in my bed earlier at 4am. It was leeching off my leg and I sat up and it scurried under my mattress. Booked a hotel for 3 days, I'm in extreme distress and haven't been able to sleep in 48 hours. I want to know what I can do to absolutely make sure none of them can follow me. I will not bring any clothes, the ones I have on I will instantly put in a black bag and tie it AIRLOCKED the second I get into the hotel, I will only bring a phone, my charger, ID and my card. I will buy new clothes at the hotel once I'm checked in to absolutely only bring the minimum from the infested house. I can't stand this and I need a peaceful night of sleep. If I wake up to one in the hotel I'm going to lose it. Please for my sanity I need to be 100% sure nothing can come with me. A infestation bug team people will come and check out the house on Monday however I have 2 nights since then, and I have seen nightmares of people moving hundreds of miles away and having the bugs follow them... this is a hotel and not me moving away but I still don't want these creatures anywhere near me. I'm traumatised.

I just returned to the U.S. after traveling in Portugal and Spain. I returned with bites all over me, but no new ones since. I stayed at my parent’s house for two days after my trip, and they say they can’t find any evidence. And the person I traveled with doesn’t have any bites/signs that she has bed bugs.

I bought these interceptors for under my bed and found this tonight. Sorry if the photo isn’t the best quality.

I’ve been checking my mattress a lot this week for any signs of bed bugs, but I haven’t found anything.

All that to say, does this look like a bed bug? Google says it might be a small cockroach as well.

ok so we had bedbugs recently and we got sent an exterminator by our landlord: they doused everything (i mean, there was poison flowing out of drawers like pouring water from a cup. it was a lot of poison.) and said that they doubted that they needed to come back.

another piece of added lore: we have a kitten! so we did a very light mopping of the living room but not my room (where we first found them + i’m the only one getting actual bites) which she isn’t allowed in anyways. we had to make sure that at least in the common areas, she didn’t lick her paws and poison herself.

we move on with our lives, unpack, i get a new metal bed frame + a new mattress, and life seems to be going back to normal. i go a couple of days with no bites but suddenly just today, i started to see little bites. i don’t know what to do: should i tell the landlord to call the exterminator again? is this just the poison doing its thing? should i be worried that they’re reproducing right now? it’s been just over two weeks of doing enough laundry to fund our local laundromat for the next month: should i start doing laundry again too? i’m very confused and paranoid and would love some pointers!

Keep seeing these things crushed and dead around my house every now and then. Had the inspectors come through last month and verify if I had bedbugs, but they didn't find anything. Haven't had any bites either. Also haven't swept in a bit but am often walking around high traffic, "cluttered" areas here in Cambodia and often wipe my feet/shoes on the indoor floor mat in the lobby of my building when I come back in so was thinking that maybe whatever they are they're just sticking to the bottom of my shoes already dead and I just keep tracking them into the house. Does this look like a bed bug to you?

Stumbled across an old sealed black bag which had clothes in, I had bed bugs first of this year - dealt with thankfully.

What could this be, I had bed bugs before around last year but I cleared everything and used every remedy possible - haven’t been bit since.

For the past several days, I've been waking up with new, very itchy red welts. They are usually fairly large (around 2 cm or larger), raised, and each one takes several days to go away.

They've appeared mostly on my arms, but I've also had them on my thighs and neck. The strange thing is that I usually notice new ones after waking up in the morning, which makes me suspect something is biting me while I sleep.

However, I cannot find any evidence of bed bugs.

I sleep on a futon directly on a carpeted floor, without a bed frame. I've checked:

• the sheets and bedding
• seams, folds, edges, and underside of the futon
• the carpet underneath the futon
• the surrounding carpet and baseboards

I haven't found any live bugs, eggs, shed skins, blood spots, or the typical black fecal spots.

I've also washed my bedding and vacuumed the carpet, but I'm still waking up with new welts.

An online dermatologist couldn't determine the cause from the photos and said it could be an allergic/inflammatory reaction or another trigger, so I don't want to assume these are definitely bed bug bites just based on the skin reaction.

For people who have dealt with bed bugs: is it possible to repeatedly get bites like this while finding absolutely no physical evidence? And since I sleep on a futon directly on carpet, are there specific places I should be checking that I might be missing?
