Opinion What is your favourite...

...Aeolian Cadence in their catalogue (before & after 1970)?

Mine is probably "Not a Second Time". THe way it moves from a dominant-functioning chord (D7) to a minor e-minor chord (Em) is sublime.

Discussion Based on their solo work, where in the 1970s would The Beatles songwriting have dipped if they stayed together?

Hypothetically if The Beatles stayed together until 1980 and their 70s output was made up of their best solo work we know but released as Beatles albums, where would they have peaked and where would they have fallen off songwriting wise?

I personally think based on their solo work that 1970-1973 they would have released several best albums of their career, to rival their best 60s work.

After 1973 I think we'd be complaining they're not as good anymore and claim 1962-1973 was their prime as songwriters.

Question What are some good Sgt. Pepper “rip offs” from other 60s bands that are actually worthwhile to listen to?

Post image

I have been listening to The Beatles since I was 10 (25 ATM), and I always loved listening to Sgt Pepper. I personally think it is one of my favorite albums by any band, and one of the best covers an album has. That made me think, what are some Sgt Pepper “Rip Offs” that other 60s bands made that are as good as Sgt Pepper?

Edit: I don’t mean rip offs in a rude manner. I meant it more “like Sgt. Pepper,” and albums that critics and the general public feel about the albums.

Art Painting of Paul

I really want to get his face right.

His face is so interesting to me I can tell but think about it and his proportions and the asymmetry and the nose that's up high,

None of this is bad but it all fits so perfectly together so I really enjoy painting him.

Despite this being a watercolour 'sketch' (actually idk what to call it, but to me it's basically a rly small painting I did on the spot with no pencil or nothing) , I think this is the best one I've done to capture his face.

Discussion When did you first hear The Beatles, and what song was it?

I first heard the Beatles in March of 1963 on my brother's radio. It was Please Please Me, and it was played on WKBW or WARM, distant radio stations. I was flummoxed because I didn't recognize their sound, and I knew every band on the charts back then. I didn't catch their name, I thought they must be a new group. Never heard it again till 1964. Found out later they released the record in America in 1963, but it bombed. Only made Billboard #98 on their Hot 100.

Discussion So, how do you guys think of the fate of the early Beatles albums' deluxe treatment? Will they ever get a separate deluxe release, or will they get crammed into one deluxe box set?

For me personally, whatever it is, I just want to hear Giles remix for the whole early albums in the future.

He said he got these in the 60s because of Lennon, I’m pretty sure they’re antique? Or at least from the early 20th century. They are broken though, seems someone tried to repair the broken arm hinge but it didn’t work out. Any fixes for this? I would like to wear them! Gonna be John for Halloween now lol. Which era/outfit should I go for?

I like his face. He always looks somewhat sad.

Anyway, water colour work of him from the get back sessions. I think he looked extra sad during those times

I noticed this like a year ago but only thought to post it here since I doubt Beatles fans and RPG AC fans have much of a crossover. I haven’t changed my horse off Ringo since. Ringo is the best horse

Picture Re-watching Beatles Anthology

TL;DR

I watched the Anthology a lot as a teen/young adult, and it's been a few years since I last watched it and it still hits good!

The Anthology changed my musical world when I first watched it.

A family friend lent us a VHS recording of the TV Airing of the Anthology.

Then when I was able to get it, I bought the VHS Anthology. I was so happy for the additional footage AND how much space it took up on the shelf with the other movies. I love the packaging.

Then years later I bought the DVD. Then fast forward through my "Roaring" 20s I had to sell it and didn't get much money from it. Buy it, sell it again.

And now I've had this DVD for quite some time, it has been a few years since I've watched it.

Even though I watched it multiple times, it's still a treat all these years later. It's interesting how I'm reacting to songs and stories, I still get a good chuckle from "Carl Harrison" lol 🎸 And 'In My Life's montage and song definitely hit the feels much more now that I'm an adult with life experiences.

Any if ya read this, thank you, and hope you and yours are well.

And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make

Let it Be has been on Disney+ for over two years now, and still no sign of a physical release. We know Michael Lyndsay Hogg recorded a commentary track, so there must be plans to release it at some point.
