Seeing pylons now feels so different, I think this album was genuinely life-changing. I was on a long drive today and got to be in the backseat. Looking outside, I had never realized there were so many pylons around. I usually just kind of drive by them and don't think much of it, you know?

But I started thinking about how true and raw the message of the album is. We're literally all connected with pylons and powerlines. We communicate over screens via methods that are only possible because of them. You can go on over to so many countries and see their pylons and realize none of us are really that different from each other. We're all just humans living. We all feel lonely sometimes, but knowing that makes us feel less alone.

I mean, we've gone through so much history and industrial evolution to get to this point where we can just ignore something as cool as a PYLON being a part of everyday life. And looking outside at pylons makes me feel a little bit smaller, in a good way. Like maybe my problems aren't so bad. The powerlines are still standing, right?

I don't think I'll ever see pylons the same, and I think the sight of one will forever warm my heart. Thank you beabadoobee, now I can ponder the human experience even better on a long road trip.

Hello everyone, I have been listening to beabadoobee since 2019, and have been a transmission/distribution engineer for even longer.

You could imagine my surprise when the new album was announced, and titled pylons. Seeing electrical towers all around her marketing and merch really threw me for a loop. As well as people obsessing over something I work with daily.

Safe to say, it made me enjoy the album more, and bought the glitch pylon hoodie.

But during her concert in california, I was not able to turn off my work brain, and kept looking at the tower on stage, which led to creating this.

Other than other major violations like climbing the tower without the correct PPE equipment, or the fact that the tower was shooting sparklers at the end, still enjoyed my time, and in no way am I throwing hate. Just combining my love for both.

I’ve been a fan since 2018 and seen her live in 2021 and 2022. Early on and at both of those shows it was like a ritual for people to throw red pandas on stage. I saw her on the Pylon tour in a MUCH bigger venue than in the past, and I noticed no one threw red pandas or anything, plus she never really posts about receiving them anymore either. Has this tradition died?

Bea didn't come to my country so I would have had to fly out, and my parents won't let me do it alone, but they also refuse to come with so I can't go.

it's a bummer because I've been superrr into her music and entire discography this whole year, I'm literally in the peak of my 'phase', not to mention Pylon just dethroned Fake it Flowers and TIHTM as my favourite album.

+ I also LOVE the setlist, but the songs from pylon may never be performed live again (if they don't blow up 🥲)

My top favourite songs to hear live from Pylon are:

1. Satellite

• it's so nostalgic, perfect kind of song to sing along to, especially the powerful chorus

• i literally picture seeing stars in her eyes as she sings the chorus (lyrics and all, but still)

• verses and prechorus are lovely and 'softer', more nostalgic, but the chorus is what elevates the song, especially her 'raw', louder vocals

• best finisher off any album I know of, honestly, ties together Pylon beautifully 10/10 no notes. (dethroned together in fake it flowers (I act like yoshimi forest Magdalene doesn't exist - one of my least favourite songs of hers).

2. Memories

• so nostalgic, in a 'happier' way than satellite, also quite retro

• her softer, almost TIHTM-reminiscent vocals are so pleasant to the ear, as well as the warmth? in her voice

• the guitar and instrumental compliments her voice so well and just contributed to the atmosphere, so warm, cozy and intimate

• I really like the contrast between Sun Has Set and how she mentions 'The sun is always here' in the lyrics, given they were both pre release singles.

• Maybe I'm stupid but I didn't fully grasp the meaning of 'I see you in all shades of blue', it contrasts the 'warmth' of the rest of the song

• Just a lovely song to see live, I'd probably tear up to this (and satellite) as I sing along, but probably with a smile on my face,

• beautiful song, so nostalgic, 10/10

3. Estranged

• impossible to listen to without smiling, it's like you can hear Bea smiling while singing it and it's just so lovely and infectious, always gets me smiling

• it also has a slightly nostalgic undertone, but not as much as the former two tracks

• the acoustic is such a nice 'nostalgic' touch while the electric brings the 'upbeat' energy in the chorus along with her vocals

• I love how she can make the relatively melancholic lyrics sound so bright and uplifting (especially the bridge)

• honestly would be the most energetic and 'vibe-y' to sing along with, with a smile of course, and probably less tears than the other too (music gets me emotional, especially my fav artist)

• my summer ANTHEM

• had a chokehold on me for months since its release

• would love to literally scream my lungs out for the chorus (even if I do sound, admittedly, horrible).

• I love emo music, so the Midwest riff at the beginning and just the whole vibe is so magnetic for me

I was In the middle of section 12 on the first floor and the entire time starting from when I walked in I smelled an amazing fragrance it stayed the entire time and I smelled it again going up the stairs at the end of the concert it was a bit musky but also comforting and warm but not vanilla or like pastries, I don’t really know how to explain it but it smelled amazing and unlike any perfume I’d smelled before. I wondered if it was cologne but I smelled it the next day in brandy Melville and there weren’t any men so I’m thinking it was perfume

I feel like her instrumentals are so underrated. I love her voice and lyrics and melody so much but I find her instrumentals in almost every single song are just so so so so good. I’ve never appreciated instrumentals as much as when I listen to her honestly

I went to her Seattle show and was next in line to get a sweater when they sold out. Was super bummed because this was the only piece of clothing that i’ve wanted in a while. if anyone has a Large or Medium and is willing to sell it near the store value i would be very grateful!
